I could listen to this all night! Beautiful sound! It's a shame we don't see many 757's at LHR now since BA got rid of theirs and not many other airlines frequently fly 757's into LHR.
Bit of trivia: The nose "bullet" of an RB-211-535 used on the B757 aircraft is actually a 2-inch long rubber cone. If you look carefully in the video, you can kind of see it; The tip is slightly lighter in color. This is done for anti-icing reasons. When the engine is operating, the rubber naturally moves around a bit [wobble wobble wobble!], and as such, any ice that would form is quickly SHED. This part is a green rubber that is very soft- you can easily move it with your finger.
i love that ROOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAR sound .. when u hear it inside a real airplane 'not a video' it gives u a weird feeling that makes u start asking ur self 'who am i?' 'where am i?'
Just remember if you go anywhere the most risky bit is actually going in the Car, your safest in the plane. The saftey involved in aviaion is huge! More than pretty much anything else

may I ask, why do you fly so often? and all of your videos are amazing! you have a great camera! and it always seems like you get first class, or at least business, if there is one! I'm so jealous!
Its to do with the canals in your ear, the fluid in them moves as if you'd moved your head creating certain sensations. Its the reason pilots fly on instruments in cloud, these sensations can easily disorientate you, with no external references acceleration can feel like climbing, deceleration like descending, returning to straight and level after being in a banked attitude for a while can feel like banking in the opposite direction.
normally when you hear the growling noise very loudly. The pilots are not peforming a full thrust takeoff. If you don't hear the growl as much, its a full thrust takeoff

Awesome videos mate! I like the spool of the RB211-524 G and H on the 747 and 767 but the 535's on 757 have an amazing Buzzsaw. Don't have any 757's in Australia apart from the occasional DHL cargo's, so this is as close to the sound as I get to hear and its damn good! Got some engine run vids you may like also so feel free to check them out :)
Hey!!! ur vids are nice!! why do we actually feel some wierd senstaion like some one is pressing our head... or like that... when we are @ take off?? Especially... when the jet engines at the ground begin to operate at full power.. (before running fastly on runway) we tend to feel something wierd... Also the same was felt by me during the bankings(i.e. to turn left or right) made by the plane.. (onto my side. i.e. when the side where i am sitting is lowered and the other is lifted..) ??
Like that buzzsaw. Once all 757's are retired, the closest sound we'll have to this is the IAE V2500, I call the V2500 the baby RR RB211 as they're virtually the same or sound wise anyway 🙂
@mah584jr You must live in Arizona or North Carolina because every plane is US Airways. Where I live its Delta everything to fly another airline would be going out of the way to connect

Notice the Throttle positions on power down the runway, there are lots that have different pitches to others.

Quite normal, take-off thrust can be de-rated by different amounts at different temperatures and weights to preserve engine life.
