i attended the kumbh mela in ujjain, m.p., in 1969. a young saddhu took me around to all the temples, and we hung out in a dharmsala by the river at night...i smoked a lot of shiv ki pod, but he was not a smoker....he was so kind. when i was leaving ujjain he walked beside the train as it was slowly leaving the station and said to me, "remember me". i can still see his face clearly and know that his guidance is still with me. bhom bole shankar bhagwan.

The British claim that they have united a divided India. But they forgot that the spirit of the people of this country is same north or south, east or west and what ever language they speak. Kumbh has been proving this over centuries.

Today many Native Americans still follow these sacred traditions- it is the organized religions that has separated the people from their ancient sacred traditions.

Thousands of people gathered there and the place was full of activities.....not one time somebody touched or pushed me.....I was walking at 1 meter off the ground .....sacred fires....chants.....temples bells....we entered the Ganga at 3.15pm just behind the Naga babas.....according to jotish the most auspicious time occurred at 3 17pm......forever in my heart it shaped me profoundly 💜

Born in Spain but indian in my heart. I ve been in your blessed land 9 times and I feel at home in India. I feel so deeply happy and at home every time I get there. I started reading The Bhagavad Gita, Ramakrishna, Swami Sivananda, The Srimad Bhagavatam, listening to Hariprasad Chaurasia, L. Subramaniam, Sachdev, etc... when I was fourteen (now I m 53). I have travelled all over India by train (sleeper class) and I have never felt so happy and free, (except for the time when my daughter was born), discovering and revisiting towns, cities and villages of your wonderful country. (I have already taken her to India 3 times, first time when she was 5, now she is 16). In short, I love my beautiful India. The greatest and most blessed and beautiful place on Earth.❤🇮🇳🇮🇳

omg ! I am in tears. I was in tears multiple times ! What a great civilization this Hindu civilization is !
Imagine some 6000 years ago when they first started this kumbh mela. The rishis went to the village after village, street after streets and invited all kinds of people irrespective of any caste, to gather at one place one in 4 years. And these people followed it for 100s of generations till this day. What kind of intention those rishis held in their hearts ?! What kind of efforts it took to assemble people in this scale when there were no facilities like we have today. And those sadhus, who spend their eyes closed most time of the year in remote places doing severe yoga sadhana. They also come to the venue at the right time without a proper sense of time keeping ! Omg ! This is truly mind boggling.
And Sanatan Dharma is a spiritual free market. The greater the ideas and philosophies, the better and farther will be its reach. you can go to one tent and hear their version of "truth" and same way you can walk to a dozen tents and get dozen truths. Then you sit back and work it out whch version of truth is correct / suits you better ! This is pinnacle of wisdom and maturity we had few 1000 years. The kings spoorted such things, spent all their money in feeding these people. and our Sadhus saved these kumbh mela from islamic invasions. Oh Hail Bharat mata. Hail Hinduism.

The atmosphere is so surreal and peaceful and silent... very unlike the temples in other parts of India. Another beautiful facet of Hinduism...which embraces all types of worship. Try liking/following pages like Ernakulathappan Temple Complex on FB... you will see worship of 3 different deities by 3 different sects in 3 different ways..all in a 25-30 metre radius!!

@aah a Just like how most animals cannot understand the reason for a human to make art, similarly, you cannot understand the reason for these great men to be naked.
Most animals would think that making art is a waste of time: it doesn't give you anything; it makes you look stupid.
But, you don't think so, at-least I hope you don't.
There's a difference in your consciousness compared to the animals'.
There's probably many reasons for this, but I've only been able to understand 2 (main) from my limited interactions and understanding.
Firstly, these men own NOTHING. And I mean nothing. No land. No house. No money.
And, of course part of owning nothing is not owning clothes.
They live by begging for food from others, and that's it.
      Why do they own nothing?
If you don't own anything, that means you have no control over anything. No dominion, no lordship over anything. Meaning, no ego (Ahamkara).
If you want to know why destroying Ahamkar is important, then read the Upanishads.
      Secondly, they own NOTHING.
Yes, the same outcome can have more than one reason for its existence.
They own nothing so that they're not attached to anything. No house (as I said already), no attachment to house. No clothes, no attachment to clothes.
Again, if you want to know why attachment is bad, read the Upanishads.
And lastly, because of attachment again.
This time, it's not attachment to materialism, it's about attachment to what others think - shame.
You would feel shame if you went out naked in the streets. But, these men don't. They're not attached to what others think.
But it looks like you're Muslim, from your channel. So... You're probably not going to understand any of these reasons in much depth, similar to how I can't understand more (of what I'm sure of), profound reasons and effects.

This particular thought and belief Swami Vivekananda also tried to portray about the Sanatan Hindu Religion..
where there will be no cruelties of casteism and unity despite a lot of differences...but at the end the rituals are being performed to unfold the quest of the god and to purify our soul with divine goodness and serve the mankind with selflessness and sacrifices for the betterment of the society.....Simply amaizing....I take pride in being a Hindu....

Even I being a Brahmin; I don't like people calling us Hindu. Our dharma is Sanatan dharma as rightly envisaged in the this video. Basically "dh" means dharan (to wear) "m" means man (mind) hence dharma denotes wearing of good thoughts in one's mind. Just as the body needs cloths the mind also needs a good thoughts to look beautiful.

Hinduism /Sanatan Dharma (The eternal principle) has survived onslaughts and persecution for past 800 years when Indian civilisation fell for the first time to foreign invaders. But they all found it hard to eradicate. The culture was driven by the people. There was variations and pluralism.... Which is difficult to weed out. You cannot teach one rule one rleigon to such people. They broke down temples, but they never knew that for us the temples were not a place to worship, we Hindus worship while walking on road, the temples were our cultural centers. So the philosophy contracted back to the homes and villages and small communities. And few years ago India became free after a 1000 years of slavery and within 70 years.... The resurgence has begun, the culture, the civilisation, the religion has survived some of the worst and most unimaginable atrocities. It was all because this civilisation was not driven by a church or central figure, it was driven by the humans, they decided what they want to pray to. The basic tenets of Hinduism has been very clearly mentioned in Rig-Ved :who we are, who we are not, is to be discussed and found out, and the old gods and the new gods and all the future gods have to find a place in this discussion table. How do you eradicate such a civilisation?

Thanks for making this documentary. I am Indian living in West for nearly 2 decades, one day soon planning to be back to my mother land Bharat. During these 17 years, my views took different shapes, at one point I even declared myself atheist. But as I grew older, realized that Religion is not about proving the point or comparing Gods, but it is about what it inspires oneself from within.
A person finds what they seek, Swami Vivekanand found Sarvdharm Sambhaav & concept of Universal Religion/Brotherhood in vedic texts, while there are "Scholars" who write books or tweets on how ugly, oppressive, hateful Indian culture & Sanatan Dharma is, (for example recent tweets & publications from Rutgers University Professor).
I wish Kumbh Mela gatherings keep inspiring present & future generations to live in harmony, stay connected to nature, selflessly help those in need & respect all forms of life. No God needs to tell human what is right and wrong, each mentally-able human being comes with this coding. Yes, but Dharma can bring people closer to good instincts, help them validate the voice of inner being. So, for me, my religion is inward looking, deeper you dive more valuable gifts one can bring for outer World.
