Nice not see the MK one coaches great memory s of the MK 1 corridors in servive Liverpool lime st to Penzance with my grand perant s a few hours on that journey
@@DougPaulley It's a generator car. It has a diesel generator inside to provide heat and power to the train. Being freight locos they cannot provide this themselves.

I made that 12 coaches, so somewhere between 400 and 450 tons. Those locos would regularly haul freight trains over 2000 tons, and some stone trains in the UK can be over 4000 tons, so I don't suppose the locos found that train too difficult. Great to see a passenger train taking that route to/from Southampton Eastern docks.
Go SAINTS!
Great content, well filmed.
Nice footage of the trains 👍
Saw this at my town, I think it was one of the last DBs in Service.

Apart from the brown and cream restaurant car, that train is made up entirely of various Mk2 coaches, not Mk1's.
@@mybeasty3560 sorry my bad ment the MK 1 the joys of marshal sight have a great night
What are the green coaches?
I think they are debranded Ex Anglia but still in that livery
2 DB locos? I thought these were only used in GB for goods trains.
Railtour
they are freight locomotive only but occasionally do get used on the odd shed railtour nice 1980s mk2/3 carriages! massive train also. 😎
@justinobrien3593 the leading carriage appeared to have louvres at the front two window positions, was this some form of electric equipment?
