Just wanted to say that I have never trapped previously, but have always been interested in it. Because of your videos I finally bought a handful of traps and am getting going. Without your instructional videos I likely would not have had the confidence to start doing this. Obviously I still have a lot to learn, but I appreciate you sharing your knowledge. I know there have been recent changes in CZcams monetization, but you are doing a great thing in keeping North American culture alive by educating others so that we can carry on our great past times. I started trapping in 1981 but it was 2003 when I discovered the "Blue English" fleshing system. I'm glad I gave it a shot because it made my work a lot easier. It's excellent and I can't imagine a better way but doing what you find comfortable is what's important. Great videos, by the way, I just discovered your channel recently.

Enjoy your videos. I’m 75 now but sure wish we could have got this kind of information when I was 12. Looking back I don’t see how I made it back then with the fur handling equipment I had. I learned by reading books by E J Dailey, Pet Sedlak and others, and by trial and error. My Dad wasn’t a trapper but he skinned my first Muskrat. He got it down to the eyes and cut the hide off before I could tell him NO. I knew he did it wrong so from then on I skinned my own. Lol. Thanks for posting these videos. Like you said, you know what you’re doing. Many posting videos on trapping do not know what they are doing.

I would really like an in depth tutorial on making the PVC system. I made one but the curve of the 8" PVC(biggest I could get my hands on) is so steep, my knife contact area is very narrow(using a Necker 600). Thanks Stu keep up the great work! Jason M

Great videos. On some of your fleshing videos, you talk about singing the hair when too much pressure is applied to the fleshing process. Particularly with otter. I'm not familiar with what a singed pelt actually looks like from one that's not singed. Could you show us the difference at some point this winter? Thanks

So im just learning about this, I was wondering if you could explain more the difference in a fleshing board thickness vs. stretching board. Obviously seems like they are different.
Just to be clear. When the beam is in its bracket and angled up, the point of the beam and the pelt's head is at your chest and you are scraping, or more accurately, fleshing down and away from you. Is that correct? Additionally, you mention a flat sweet spot down the center of the wooden beam. I assume on the PVC beam there really isn't any flat center as it is continuously curved. Is that right? Maybe you've got a vid on making a PVC beam???
What I’m curious about is how much more your making from skinning vs carcass? Are you going through a buyer, or sending to auction? For me personally, going through a buyer, it doesn’t pay to skin anything to sell as finished fur. I did first starting out but, maybe it was just the buyer, but he would dock us if it wasn’t done his way and even if it was you didn’t get maybe $10 dollars more for finished vs carcass. So why go through the extra work ya know? Let them do all the work. Plus I wasn’t catching the numbers to make it worthwhile either I suppose. Just curious to pick your brain on that topic I guess. What your opinion was. Thanks
