Man. Pure Legends in Japan, and even outside of it.
It's going to *_HURT_* when they retire
god true
absolutely 😢
After my brother showed me a video of Jimmy Onishi's English Lesson segment on No Laughing High School 10 or 11 years ago, from thereon I never stopped watching Downtown and everything they do from Batsu Games, Kiki Series, Absolutely Tasty, Silent Library.....to name a few! Long live the Legends and also to all the cast most notably Cocorico and Tsuketei Hosei.
Where do i download the entire episodes subbed
It's funny how many of these I see.. I was the same. I just happened upon that exact segment of the High School batsu game and almost died laughing, I just couldn't believe it. I showed it to my grandfather and even he thought it was hilarious and I never saw him laugh... I had struck gold. But over the years the gaki no tsukai games have gotten a little stale, which is understandable.. Kinda sad they seem to be retiring it entirely though.
My favorites are Matsumoto and Onishi!
18, 19....
Ten-ten
Im from saudi arabia
I graduated from highschool in 2005 and went to japan in the summer
I met Matsumoto in a restaurant in osaka he was so funny when he was trying to speak english and making jokes he was so so nice
It was one of my best moments in my life tbh
I literally grew up watching their shows, and when I first visited Japan, at the age of 30, I saw their faces everywhere on billboards, TV commercials and everyone knew who they were. I really felt like home :D
It’s crazy how they do not consider each other friends, but the respect and understanding of their business dynamic is admirable
I love these guys. Simply the best. Add in Hosei, Tanaka, and Endo and you're guaranteed too laugh nonstop.
Downtown is legendary.
I accidentally stumbled onto these guys about 5 years ago and have been a big fan ever since. Once you acclimatize to the fact that they can get away with so much more physically than comedy shows in the US, and gain a little understanding of their frequent satirical references to Japanese culturisms, it is clear why they can have worldwide appeal and get a larger fan base every year.
well said!
Good point. In America, you can't even have comedy anymore without being criticized. In Japan, they just don't give a shit, and I love Japan for that. Life is short; we need to learn to laugh more.
Thank you for this video. I remember watching some Downtown videos as a kid featuring idols like Morning Musume and stars like Utada Hikaru. I also noticed Downtown’s discography has been recently uploaded on streaming services and I’m really liking it so far.
My favorite comedy duo
Agree
I hope they release an English subbed of all their shows
Agree
Legends
💯 💯 💯 fact
They are the reason I got so intrigued with Japanese comedy and the whole psychology of comedy in general.
The only problem is that Downtown has built up these incredible boots that nobody will be able to fill once they retire or pass away. They're true giants. The combi best positioned to be the top after Downtown is maybe Chidori, but I don't think Chidori has it in them to be as influential as Downtown.
They're truly the gods of Heisei-era comedy. Nobody will come even close.
Chidori are rising pretty well but nowhere near DT
@@yirk1 you are very familiar with Japanese comedy lol. Why?Are you Japanese?
i would say they are the best in japan
the best in the world
world no.1
Wow the history is amazing. Never quit
I'm loving all these "The History Of" videos you're making. Really learned a lot from the Egashira and Deluxe! Keep up the good work!
That really made my morning. Thanks, Ted Hobgood😀 I’ll do my best making more “The History Of” videos👍🏾
absolute legends
Thanks for uploading this video. I'm not good at English, however ur Summary & English are very understandable for me. I really enjoyed it, thx !
Thanks for the comment, DEar 3075😀
Hamada was sent to a boarding school? Well that explains the cruel behavior
Love it! My all time favorite comedy Duo.
One thing that surprises me: all the young girls who came to the shows, and screamed like they were The Beatles.
Can you imagine a bunch of 14 year olds clambering to see George Carlin or Richard Pryor?
downtown is yoshimotos gold mine
I'm glad they never gave up! I don't understand Japanese at all, but all the guys in Downtown Gaki No Tsukai (Jimmy Onishi included) are so good, I don't have to know Japanese! They are as funny as Hee Haw, Monty Python, and Saturday Night Live! Keep up the good work, and PLEASE release the show on DVD and bluray in the United States!!!
Thank you for this episode!
Thanks for watching, vandette91😀
Probably hitting close to 50+ yrs of these two being friends. Downtown for LIFE! #outto!
Great historical account of Downtown!
play the video in 1.25 speed, it sounds a lot more smooth...
I wish it would be on cable here. They play mxc sometimes but these gaki no tsukai shows are unheard of with most in my state. Never happen, gotta face it. :(
I love Downtown 🙏 Matsumoto is my favourite
These two are brilliant!
The video sounds better in 1.1x speed haha, good video nonetheless!
I absolutely love Matsumoto and Hamada
Matsumoto is the second most followed Japanese on Twitter
Whos the first?
BTS japan official
@@kintaroicoc4020 BTS isn't Japanese tho..?
i love this. Thank you for educating us!
You gave very good informations, but maybe for the time speaking a little faster :)
I will definitely try to speak a little faster in future videos, nope Dickvutt😀 And thanks for the comment.
I love the speed. It's entertaining and not forced as Yamachan :D
Hamada at a boarding school with that goofy haircut looking miserable made me LOL hard.
Also, Matsumoto went to a technical high school in Hyogo? I taught at a technical high school in Hyogo! Too weird
Dude looking like, really? what the hell am i doing here
They have to not like each other in order to soften the blow of eventually loosing each other..neither wants to die second ,can you imagine having to live your without the one person you've counted on for many many years..😔.long live downtown legends.
Great video
Omg. The suprise or Hamada with very short hair. And seeing those 2, holding hands and smiling surrounded with flowers lol.
If you watch their shows enough / their interviews etc. They do respect each other, but don’t call each other “friends” exactely.
Dude, please make a video on Shin Oni. This guy cures my depression lol.
It’s amazing that if, at any point, they decided to quit, there would be so much missing from TV and film.
Sadly Matsumoto and Hamada's relationship soured and are not friends when off stage
Really great analysis. I first seen Matsumoto Hitoshi and Masatoshi Hamada in a variety show, Hey Hey Hey Music Champ when I was in high school. They have interviewed all kinds of musical talent there, including my favorites, Tommy February, Namie Amuro, TMRevolution, Ayumi Hamasaki, Whiteberry, BoA, EE Jump, Move, and, not to mention, GACKT, and so many others. I've always loved that show and I still love it to this day. But the one thing that always shocked me is that Hamada is known for slapping people on the head. Men and women alike. I really didn't like that at first cuz I thought to myself who the heck does this guy think he is?! But then I did some research on why that type of humor is hilarious to Japanese audiences, and it says that he is regarded as "Super Sadist Hamada" and I understood a little bit, but I had to get used to that type of humor. Other than that, I've had very fond memories of that show. That was my first introduction into the wonders of Japanese variety shows.
I subbed to your channel. Great job!
@@user-vo6yc8dh5n Oh, great! I'm glad you felt the same way about Hamada's type of humor! Regardless of whether or not this gets any laughs, that's still shocking to me. You don't hit someone's head like that! If it's towards Hitoshi, who has been his friend for decades, then that's fine to a degree since they're both comedic veterans and play off each other very well. But don't slap everyone else on the head, especially women! That, to me, was never funny at all. That's assault. It's just my opinion.
Exactly ,Exellent japan of legends comedian Matchan and Hamachan combinations lovely's👍👍😻😻
Good story 👍🏻👌👏
Thanks🙌🌞
0:18 heart
It's actually very difficult to keep focus on one thing for 5 years. Besides, they are funny.
Watching them work hard for 5 years to create success. Its tear me up..why dont i have the courage to be like that.. Please pray for me.
Niiiiice!
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Zerg Toss. And thanks for the request😀
And i thought Borat was the first one 6:01
They are real heroes to Japanese boys. They’ve built value of comedians in Japan so now most Japanese boys wanna be a funny man not cool or smart
1:18 says it all
RESPECT
Very good thanks!
Downtown are 2 😂 funny, you are right!
👍🏾👍🏾
It's sad that these two aren't close friends in real life. They avoid to be in contact nor meeting outside their personal lives. Even Matsumoto met Hamada's son once. They even fought violently before making a show minutes later
is there a way too see it with subs ?
Hamada said they won’t quit till their about 80 yrs old
Hitoshi Matsumoto is the most followed Japanese on Twitter right now
Matsumotto. Matsumeauteaux. Hahaha. He not French, is Japanese
DOWNTOWN has 2 billion yen.
need that sauce for that 6:50
Controversial Manzai couple....
LLLOOOLLL li adoro
Even though they are the best combi but they fell apart in real life
Fakhrur Ruzi it's the price they need to pay to keep their performance

松本一族 日生学園 紳助竜介
この三つを語らずしてダウンタウンは語れないよなぁ
絶対笑っちゃあは行けない
浜田 out...!!!
松本out...!!!!
Downtown suck. Why can't japan have comedians like Doug Stanhope and Bill Burr. Their comedy feels really juvenile like slipping on a banana peel.
causerDAguv そんな浅いレベルで笑いやってないわ
causerDAguv Why can't we have more people who understand what 'manzai' is? Mainly because they are ignorant?
Maybe japanese comedy isn't suited to your taste? I, for one, don't like American comedy, but british and japanese comedies.
causerDAguv are you per chance a japanese?i feel like, if you are a Japanese then your comment about japanese comedians and japanese comedy is valid. Something funny in japan does not necessarily need to be funny outside of japan. And vice versa. I'm indonesian, and the comedy here have a very different taste compared to american and or japan. I have tried other japanese comedians' manzai, they have the same kind of taste. And yet some of them i find funny, and some dont. And downtown is one that is very funny IMHO.
That sounds like something who doesn't understand Japanese comedy would say
