    I don’t know why people obsess over the weight of a bike. I’ll be going out on a 200 plus km 5,000 meter climbing day for the summer solstice on a steel bike today. If you’re that kind of rider then you should be riding a rim brake bike. They claim 800 something grams for the frame weight which is fine. This bike is “heavy” because of the disc brake format, build kit, 30 mm tires and so on. This is easily a sub 6.8 to 7.2 kg in rim brake - and a MUCH smoother ride! I know I sell Basso. You buy this bike because it’s beautiful to look, it’s responsive, it’s made in Italy 🇮🇹 and inspires you to just ride bikes!

      @@paulhowell7103 Question: I like precision. Exactly when is the summer solstice in 2021?
      Answer: Sorry to complicate things for you, but the date you celebrate this year depends which side of the planet you live on.
      It will happen precisely at 03:32 UTC (Universal Coordinated Time) on Monday, June 21. Your time zone in relation to UTC determines the date the solstice happens for you. Here's how 03:32 UTC lines up with local time in select places around the world: The long day of summer solstice provides plenty of light to explore around Istanbul, including the grounds of the Hagia Sophia. Turkey's largest city will have about 15 hours and eight minutes of daytime.

    I owned a 2019 Diamante (frame is still the same) until a crash has separated us about a year ago. While writing this comment I get emotional, cause this bike was an absolute stunner. Fast, stiff, responsive and an eye-catcher.
    For the 2022 Season i was looking for a new bike. I looked for other brands and bikes etc. But nothing came close to the beauty of the Diamante. It is an absolut classic bike.
    Regarding your questions. The cut out at the steerer tube is a critical point and limits the use of third party stems. By using the original Basso stem, the handle bar hits the top tube first - so no contact wir the edge of the steerer tube - the Deda Stem is a bad choice for this frame.
    The weight of the bike was ok. I got an Ultegra Di2 build and it was just about 7.3 kg (without pedals). I guess the Chorus group is more on the heavy side ;).
    About the ride quality and feel. Well this bike is demanding. When you feel that you're slow, you are! In the beginning I had exactly the same thoughts - the head unit says I am fast but it does not feel like fast. And I believe, that at the end of a ride/race the bike looked at me in a reproachful way telling me "It's not my fault that you're slow keep on pushing!" 😁. Luckily that has changed.

      Could you let me know that what Basso says is a zero degree stem is measured against the floor (i.e. parallel)? Thanks. Their options are either 0 or -11 degrees.

    • @80robs92
      @80robs92 Před 2 lety

      @@CZcamsfana it is not measured against the ground, it is according to the steering tube angle. -11 degrees is nearly parallel to the ground whereas the 0 degree stem points the bar to the sky :-). If you want the aggressive look, take the -11 degree stem (pretty much standard). The 0 degree stem gives you a more upright and comfortable position.

      TECH NOTE:
      HEAT: the racers treat......... but ya, as soon as you hit 24C:75F , tire micro compounds compromise considerably, creating density resistance, more so on 28s and 30 ml. To counter that either pressure up 20%, or better yet size down to something 23,24 if speed is your drug of choice . ALSO , note your tire casings stretch more rapidly in heat, leaving the tires feel sort of dead, so use fresh tires for any events you care about. YOU may still have tread, but your tires are dead, Amiga / Amigo!
