De Gaspé Street in '' le quartier Villeray '' at that time was 99 % catholic French Canadian ( Québécois ) mainly lower class a little bit of middle class . My father told us how sweet was '' Madame Robinson '' she charmed the whole street.

To a certain extent, Rachel Robinson was equally - if not more -- accomplished than her husband: BA from UCLA in 1945. Masters in psychiatric nursing from NYU in 1961. Professor at Yale in 1965. Phenomenal for a woman, let alone a black woman, for those times. A trailblazer in her own right.

Kennan, We used to cover the San Francisco Giants for radio when they came to Montreal it's true what Jackie and his wife Rachel said about Montreal it's day and night from America. We don't feel the racial tension when we came to Canada like we do in the US we feel very welcome in a place like Montreal and it's like taking a fresh breath of air. How we wish we could live in a place like Canada.

What a great documentary. There's still lots of baseball fans up here and I'm pretty sure we're all incredibly proud to have had our city host Jackie and Rachel during that pivotal year. I wish I could have been there to cheer him on.

I understand what the narrator wants to achieve in this video. However ,as a person who grew up in the Bronx and Westchester County in the 40s and 50s ,as a Yankee fan, no one I knew ever “underrated “ Jackie Robinson .Rather he was constantly regarded as a great ball player who was dominant in baseball for about a decade. His great talent was manifest and he was one of the most exciting players in the game.

yes your speaking of Robinson after the exploits he achieved, what your missing here was about Robinson before becoming the player you knew, and the barriors that were broken,

@@enzodellacorte1909 Utter nonsense. Robinson was known to be a great athlete and baseball player before he made it to the majors. I doubt there’s anyone who knows more about the barriers broken than yours truly.
