Great pictures of Elvis in the fifties at Graceland. He was so happy when his Momma was with him. In the photo's it shows what a simple person Gladys was drying the laundry outside cause you know that Elvis had a laundry room to with the best appliances that money could buy. He even bought two mixers so Gladys wouldn't have to walk as far in the kitchen. I truly believe had Gladys lived longer that Elvis would have lived longer, George Klein said that anything she said Elvis was on it. Thank you so much for these great photos.😢

Wow, so interesting in seeing all the changes that Graceland and land has went through. Just like any home, things get remodeled, updated, etc...Love the photos showing it all. Yes, I can't even imagine trying to grieve a loved one who just passed with reporters up in your face, taking your picture. That was such a sad time for Elvis and Vernon and don't understand why it had to be captured. It's a double edge sword, on one hand we love having this documented, but on the other hand your heart breaks for them as you can see the pain in their faces and the privacy they so needed to have but didn't. Graceland....how can one pic a favorite in this video?! It is all amazing and I thank you for all your hard work in bringing these videos to us Ashley, you are the bomb my friend!

Beautiful Graceland!Back then Gladys and Vernon had to feel like it was not real!Now it is even more beautiful now. How proud they had to be of their son! If Gladys hadn't got sick think she would have liked it more😢 Wasn't long before Elvis had to leave for army. Think she was so lonely and worried she probably didn't enjoy it any more😢 He was such a good son to them!It holds such sweet and sad memories❤

This is hot photos from the 50`snd most exiting and happyest time in Elvis life until Glady`s pastaway in august 58. Not often we see so clear photos from Elvis beloved Graceland from the 50\s. This video shows so much I love from the 50`s. its hard to pick one favorite. love the ones that shows how it really was inside and outside at Graceland at 50`s and see fans outside the gates when Elvis stand in the gates and when drive out on his motorcykle and when he embrace Caty just inside front door. Cool to see that the dining room in the 50`s almost was still intact from 1939 when it was built. Thank you Asheley for the tour back at the happy50`s for Elvis.💪⚡

Those beauties were Parker's idea, i read. He did not want Elvis to get serious with one girl, which he had in the summer of 56 with June Juanico. I read she said she was not invited for Christmas. This must have been hard for her and Elvis but his career always came first, thanks, great video, loving the vintage pics😊

Wow Ashley it seems like this video was so full of different things that it is impossible for me to say what was my favorite part. But what stands out to me is looking back at the past, seeing Gladys on the front porch seems so out of place for today. I’m sure no one would sit out there in front if it were still being occupied by famous people! Also, about the bed sheets that you pointed out, can you even imagine that happening in today’s society there! It seems like there were so many more people who visited the home. One thing that I did learn however is that picture of Elvis and Vernon sitting together in grief, have seen it many times, but never from as far back as you showed it, I never knew it was taken right there on the front stairs! It makes it an even sadder photo for me knowing that they were sitting right on the front porch steps. Now it really makes me wonder who and why those photos were taken?? Just plain sad!

You were right, even though I am subscribed, I missed this video and cannot recall YT suggesting it. Thank you for recommending it, awesome research and photos! In the second magazine picture you show, there is a boy in a motorcycle jacket standing near Elvis on the motorcycle. I just can't believe it is coincidence the boy has on that attire and feel he must somehow be connected to Elvis. Do you have any idea who he is?
Later in the video, you mention the basement was finished for entertaining by the previous owners, which corresponds with several pieces I have read in the past. However, in Gene Smith's book "Elvis's Man Friday" in a chapter titled Graceland, Gene states "right away he had a floor put in the basement and had that below deck area built to house a pool table, a jukebox, a movie screen, and a 16mm projector where he could show rented movies when he didn't want to rent a theater in Memphis for the evening." I always assumed this meant the basement when Elvis bought the house had a packed dirt floor which Elvis had finished in concrete, but I guess it could have meant the floor was concrete and Elvis had a sub-floor placed over it. Gene also seems to be indicating the basement was open and Elvis had it split into discrete rooms. What do you think?

A while back I created a video 'Graceland Before Elvis' (czcams.com/video/XsqZ3QvPoWM/video.html) with info from the book, 'From de Soto to Elvis: A Brief History of Graceland Farm' by Chris Miksanek. I think that is where I learned about the basement being used for those purposes by the Moores. I don't think Elvis added the walls, so he must've added the flooring. I'm not sure, though!

Q. When Elvis passed the carpet inside the front door and stairs was red. Do you think it will ever be turned back to how Elvis had it. I believe his estate still has that carpet.

I have a question, however I could not put it on the actual video that I watched because the comments were turned off. This is about the Palm springs honeymoon hideaway that was posted 3 years ago. You talked about them sitting on the long couch and you trying to sit in the same spot that Priscilla sat in which is awesome I wish that place was still available. However, I'm pretty sure and I could be wrong that this was after they were already married. It looks like in the picture that they have their wedding rings on. So are we 100% positive that this was taken before the wedding and not after the wedding? And if so how do we know?

I know what you mean - in that footage they're showing off their rings like they just got them. I can't remember how we know that's the day before, maybe Priscilla's book? All photos and footage from that day is labeled April 30th.

@@ashleysadventures Yes apparently a reporter leaked the fact that they were going to get married in that house so they had to jet off to Vegas to do it. But I was just wondering if this was afterwards because they were wearing their rings and back at the house with all kinds of family and friends.
