    Thanks for the great tribute! I remember the American issue of Vogue that came out in 1970 which featured Audrey at home with Luca! That photo of her with him on her lap was in her lovely serene blue and white bedroom with the white wicker accents/furniture! She lovingly and deservedly created a heaven on earth at her great beautiful home in Switzerland. May she rest in peace~ she is sorely missed here on planet Earth. Thankfully, she left a lasting legacy!

Your beautiful documentary on her homes enlightened my soul, as it is wondrous how a famous beautiful gift from God lived after the camera stopped rolling and relaxed away from the demands of Hollywood and a busy world. Thank you very much……. please continue this journey.

    I was in that house when Eva Gabor owned it for a photo shoot back in the 1980s when I worked for her publicity agency Rogers & Cowan. But I never knew Audrey Hepburn and David Niven owned it before EG. It's a corner property next to the Sunset Blvd. I remember EG had a white baby grand piano in the den between the kitchen and backyard where the swimming pool.

    Audrey Hepburn was a woman of my own heart. I love rooms that are very spacious and light and airy with loads of natural light and the sun beaming in those beautiful French doors. Huge white kitchen. But I love the inside of the Swiss home and those pictures of her in the pink room we'll call it, cuddling up to her dogs. That's my idea of pure bliss as well. I love Audrey's taste and would very happily live in her Swiss home and also the last one you showed. Wherecshe played Sabrina. Gorgeous. Not too keen on the dark rooms though. I always feel claustrophobic in dark wooden rooms but I would want something that is Cosy for the winter but not quite as dark. I'd have warm earthy colours like a warm gold long curtains and cushions and rugs with deep gold, deep reds and deep forest green. Something cheerful but warm light gold coloured walls with white panelling. That would look warm and cosy in the winter but also lovely and sunny in the summer. Rugs with the same tones. And a huge big cuddly soft deep red sofa to curl up on with the dogs and the fireplace alive with warmth and beauty. Wooden floor. OR dusky pink/ pale pink/ biscuit and cream. Colour scheme. Dusky pink walls with cream doors cream panelling. Pale pink silk covered sconces on the walls. Large cosy biscuit corduroy coloured sofa. I had one and I got a dog that loved it too. And made a job of it with her nails at the back on the leather look material. It's far from leather look now I can tell you, but it was the best most comfortable sofa I have ever bought. It was beautiful. It had these huge chunky cushions on it and the back was the same material chunky big cushions to just melt back into. It was pure bliss to curl up on. My dog made the most of it too. She' s passed on now. But she loved to jump up on top of these back cushions and lie across the top to look out the window. She'd be there for hours looking out watching the cars pass by. She was a beagle and I did not have the heart to stop her. That was her joy and SHE was my joy. I loved her. But the sofa suffered for it. It kind of got worn and lost its shape on one side. I have a recliner chair to match it and that's still in good shape. She had no interest in that only the sofa to stretch herself out and gaze out the window. She used to wait up there for me when I'd go out and love to see me coming home. It wasxbeautiful but it also holds beautiful memories of her. If I could even get it restored. If not, I would get another get another one just like it if I could. I loved it. That with loads of cream and pink cushions. All the colours mentioned in the rugs. Dusky pink/pale pink biscuit and cream wooden floors. Pink and cream flowers in ceramic cream vases. Dusky pink floor length curtains for doors and shorter ones for windows. And deep arch canopy shelves built in. Painted in cream. And a special place for a large beautiful Christmas tree at Christmas aaah. Heaven. Now I'd better go but I hope Audrey has another beautiful mansion up there with her furry friends. I think we'd get on great because I hate city life as well. I cant stand it. I used to live in London. I feel the same as Audrey on that one. I hope she's happy up there she certainly deserves to be. I always liked her. Thank you for your time. Susan. Xxxx❤❤❤

Sadly it has been demolished.

At least from what I've heard/read, it appears it no longer holds any of the original history from its previous owner Betsy Bloomingdale. I do understand the need to bring one's own look and interests into one's home, it is still unfortunate when so much of history is lost.

      Agreed. For Holmby this is a tiny house. I think the narrative tries to impress viewers with "gated", "private", "brick motor court", etc. but the adjectives don't work because this property is located on busy corner (Sunset and Delfern--with a bus stop across the street) and can't help but be more exposed to view than what was preferred. Perhaps it the narrative could impress by pointing out how modest the house is, at 7000 sf, for a great star and how the architect was able to inject glamor and style with his signature curved staircase, well proportioned rooms, and placement of windows for best views and daylight.

    I wonder why is so important to highlight Paul R Williams's African-American ethnicity while Mott B Schmidt is just "American". They were both born in the US, so the fact that one was black and the other white is irrelevant and slightly racist.

    • @antoniahamilton3201
      @antoniahamilton3201 Před 2 měsíci +17

      Because Paul R Williams is a renown Los Angeles architect that designed many Hollywood estates. Known as the "architect to the stars", his homes are highly coveted and desirable. They command a high price and are considered legacy architecture. He broke racial barriers, becoming the first African American member (and later, Fellow) of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), as well as a civic leader. Perhaps they exist but I'm not aware of any Mott B Schmidt's excellent designs in the Los Angeles area.

      @IMAInteriors Před 2 měsíci +13

      I see your point, but I don't look at it that way. It must have been incredibly rare for an African American interior designer to reach such heights in the 1930s. He must have been exceptional. I'm glad that the narrator pointed it out, and I am DELIGHTED to finally get a good peek at Audrey Hepburn's homes.
