  • This is mostly just me working on the bunker project,, mostly all the boring stuff, that I normally do off camera. Finishing up the putting in of the empty 40mm pipe,, and then putting through the power and fiber optical,, messed up putting in a SFP+ in my 10Gbit, and struggled to make any connection to the rest of system from the bunker because of it.
    Please do help he find new homes for some of all my 10Gbit SFP+'s : www.myplayhous...

    Probably a little late, but you should have pulled a pull through string along with the wires/fibre. That way if you needed to pull anything else (especially with the corrugated pipe) you could easily pull it. I am not sure if you could still use the plastic bag (or small piece of cloth) and a vacuum...

    this is pretty major progress - the only productive things I have to add is to use fused connections and also add pos pressure hepa with humidity control and remote monitoring - you probably have to extend series and get a mini pc running with home assistant and a few controls for env and power, you want to have redundant connections to the bunker and out of the bunker, a mini cluster would be nice in the bunker - redundancy and failover - good poc content - the use of the tools to install and verify fiber was great - tuborg gold award! I would have tried to use dac just for ease of use and price - i have had bad luck with tranceivers - they get hot - trying to stick with rj45/cat8. try to put foam boards and then plywood pieces for floor of bunker - maybe even shag carpet. good ending to this one, try to do more cable mgt - most of it is good but rem this is a bunker - everything has to be perfect and orderly

    @DavidBezemer Před měsícem +5

    Not sure what your peak amps are for those power cables, but I would measure the voltage drop over those cables under load as they may be way smaller than needed for the length that you have. If you're looking at staying within 5% voltage for a 20m cable length and 10A you'd need 8AWG (or ~8mm^2) wire to do that, this cable looks smaller than that.

    • @AndrewStrydomBRP
      @AndrewStrydomBRP Před měsícem +1

      Definitely don't need 8mm2, 2.5mm2 is fine for 20a at 20m even including the current carrying capacity reduction for cables in underground ducting.

    • @MyPlayHouse
      @MyPlayHouse  Před měsícem +2

      It's fine a 6mm cable, can handle 55Amp. The Allpowers power station in the bunker can only handle 18A or 500W max.
      There is like 12 meter,, I will probably see a 3% drop in voltages,, (Worst case 500W, 18A and lowest possible voltages of 27,8V)
      If I can get to 70V comming in (Max. of the S2000) we are down to like 7,1A,, that would be less than 1% voltages loss, with 6mm cable.

  • @Crftbt

    I have been testing that 'chinaswitch': It has ~450k buffer. It also has a bug: If you need flow control on the fiber, force the port to 10G, don't leave it auto. And I may just get a few SFP+'s, I have been - testing them for work?

    Hey Morten,
    after using a couple of those "china" 10G switches, i got to the conclusion that the SFP+ port does have problems with modules that are drawing to much current. I bought modules with lower current spec and they worked fine. Maybe you got the same problem.

    • @MyPlayHouse

      Okay,, I will keep that in mind,, I do have a SFP tester that shows how much power they uses. soI can use the best ones I have.

    @Whothefuckareyoutojudge Před měsícem +1

    The unifi sw is showing -40dBm output power. That pretty much means that the Unifi switch doesn't support that module..
    You will need to reprogram that module to support the Unifi switch.
    You're getting RX on the Unifi side, so the small cheap switch is all good.
    EDIT: Another option you can try is to set the link speed manually and turn off automatic negotiation. (I've had to do this to get a 10Gbe link working between a Dell switch and a Mikrotik router)
    EDIT2: Also could be that one of the fibers is broken. Try the modules with another patch.
