This process should be similar on the following vehicles:

    2003 Ford Explorer
    2004 Ford Explorer
    2005 Ford Explorer
    Tools you will need:

    • 5.5mm Socket
    • Trim Tool Set 1aau.to/oa/1AXX...

Great video. For anyone doing this, you may want to also buy a lock to have on hand. The sensor pin is held in place by a plastic retainer integrated into the lock. Rotating to remove may destroy the plastic so that you cannot get the new sensor to stay secure. I wound up replacing both the lock and the sensor because of this issue (plastic retainer shattered when rotating the sensor for removal). Note that the actuator separates from the lock by pressing a black tab. Look for videos on it as it isn't intuitive. Also, the locks are sold bare so you will need to transfer all of the plastic clips and bushings from the old lock if you are unlucky and damage it.

Thank you for a video that FULLY stated and demonstrated the steps without unneeded hyperbole. Now I'm off to throw more parts at the problem because that's how this truck is for me lol.

The part at 5:16 where the door lock rod is disconnected is missing. You can see it sitting above a certain hole when you inspect the window channel, next thing you know there's a camera cut, and then its well below that hole, disconnected. Whoops.

Would this be the same for an 06 expedition? Nobody at all shows how to stop the annoying dinging

Hi. Would you happen to remember the color of the wires for the door switch sensor? They look like yellow and black. I know i can be wrong. I have an 02 Ford Explorer XLT 4.0. TIA
