  • Tim Lerch's website says Taste, Tone, and Telecasters. That sums up Tim Lerch to a tee. Even though Tim plays guitar professionally in various settings, including Pearl Django, a Northwest gypsy jazz group, and a duo with guitarist, Jamie Findlay, along with many solo guitar dates, he is a teacher. And a good one. All of these elements is what makes Tim Lerch a guitarist's guitarist. Perhaps it's his long involvement in meditation is what creates his zen-like wisdom when it comes to advice on playing and learning guitar. One can't help but think it has something to do with the zen "flow" he has when he improvises on guitar. And he is just on heck of a nice guy. All of these these components are what make Tim Lerch a sought after player and teacher.
Adam Smale interviews Tim Lerch and get into great detail on a vast array of topics including his early beginnings with guitar, his influences, people he has studied with (Ted Greene, Joe Diorio, Lenny Breau), why he likes the Telecaster, his favorite guitarists on the scene today, and much more. Tim even turns the table and asks Adam some questions as well.

I had so much fun interviewing Tim Lerch! It was like we'd known each other for years. I know it ended up being a long one, but let me know what you thought of the interview.

I remember watching a video about guitar and reading one of the comments where they mentioned that Jay Roberts and Tim Lerch were super awesome. I've been hooked on Tim ever since.

Adam - Thank you so much. I can't say enough about Tim as a teacher and human being. I'm glad he turned me onto you. Now my support and appreciation for you is also immense. Like Tim said, "Always go for beauty". (or in Canada, "beauty, eh!"). Pease keep up the great work.
