  • Welcome to my fielding drills for First Baseman's video. In this video I do numerous fielding drills that young kids can to inside there house or backyard, when they don't have the opportunity to go to a field. We do a lot of groundballs on our knees to isolate our hands and work thru the ball. I also do some random groundball drills with him so he doesn't stay in a routine.

Why would you bring your opposite leg into the runners base path?

      True

I’m assuming this is the fielding aspect of first base though, not just like taking a throw from shortstop

@@cj32pull2 I'm pretty sure he's talking about the third drill of the video. He's using his foot as a pivot to keep contact with the base, as he should. Then proceeds to kick back his attack foot towards and even behind the baseline, which is wrong for so many reasons.

How many Baseballs do you have?

Not enough. It's like clamps, a carpenter can never have too many clamps.

why would you teach a kid to throw his foot back? Absolute no-no here.

He is fielding not taking a throw from 2nd, 3rd or short

@@dreamslayer5310 He's keeping his right foot as a pivot to maintain base contact, he's definitely taking a throw, not fielding. You never attack the throw striding toward the baseline, even worst, jumping across it. Best case scenario, you get called for interference, but you can get stepped on, runned over, or sent to the bench and told to get a coach who can teach you 1st base fundamentals. In the drill after that, he's fielding and setting up a throw towards 2nd, but the one before that, he's definitely taking a throw.
