    About the book:
The only life Tress has known on her island home in an emerald-green ocean has been a simple one, with the simple pleasures of collecting cups brought by sailors from faraway lands and listening to stories told by her friend Charlie. But when his father takes him on a voyage to find a bride and disaster strikes, Tress must stow away on a ship and seek the Sorceress of the deadly Midnight Sea. Amid the spore oceans where pirates abound, can Tress leave her simple life behind and make her own place sailing a sea where a single drop of water can mean instant death?

The original Mistborn trilogy for sure. Mistborn and Stormlight being the major Cosmere series also mean that there'll be the most easter eggs for these in other books. Like Dr. Ulaam from Tress is from a race that originates from Mistborn.

From your goodreads, I don't think you've read Mistborn era 1. As a series, I think it might be better than Stormlight, although the first 2 Stormlight books are my still my faves in terms of character depth and pay off. Mistborn has a YA feel. The magic is interesting, the twists are very good (as you'd expect), there's a bit of romance, some politics and lots of emotional ups and downs. I really liked the found family aspect. I hope you enjoy it of you decide to pick it up.

I read the first one a really long time ago and loved it! I remember pausing reading it because the ending was SO SAD. I think I’m mentally prepared to reread the first so I can read the rest!

The end of The Hero of Ages is just my all time favorite.
You can also go for Yumi and the nightmare painter, or The Emperor's Soul if you prefer some stand alone

If you’d like More insight into the sorceress at the end of the book you should read Elantris

You are a fun person and this is a great video. I wish you all the success that doesn't amount to the selling out to the CZcamss. Satire!

After hearing your thoughts, I'm very tempted to pick this up. I like Wit, but don't think humour is Brandon's strong point. He can be a bit dad-jokey. I was worried about the secret projects being standalones, as his strength, IMO, lies in being able to tell a vast yet immersive tale in 3 or 5 books. That said, what you mentioned makes it sound very interesting.

It’s a really fun read for sure! I’m a huge fan of dad jokes so that may have been why I liked this so much 😂 I agree though larger stories spread throughout other books are definitely his best! I think if you go into it knowing it isn’t a super serious read you’ll enjoy it 😊
