FS17 Timelapse, Rattlesnake Valley #1: Moving In And Getting Started!

- In today's Farming Simulator 17 time lapse video, which is set in the 4x map of Rattlesnake Valley-
We have arrived at last! Once we actually manage to find our house, we hit the ground running here in RSV. We get all the small old machinery at the farm and sell it all off at the scrap merchant, then get ourselves some brand new CR10.90's, Draper headers, a Fendt, chaser bin, Manitou loader, grass equipment to feed our sheep, self propelled baler, bale trailers and more. We also get Wesley a nice shiny new special edition Challenger with triple wheels and an Anaconda snake paint job! He seems quite pleased with it... We've got land to plough, a small field to harvest and several other things to get done so we can get properly settled in. The main issue we've got though is that it's not very easy to get round some of the very small back lanes here!

The big bud dlc will fit perfectly in this map, apart from the narrow roads.

The narrow roads are certainly a challenge, but I find myself particularly enjoying them, feels more immersive for me having to carefully plan my route for larger machines. The only thing I don't like is the limited access to the barn for selling bales!
Frithgar yeah it is a bit of a pain but then again the best maps like Knaveswell and Sandy Bay are all narrow and twisty. So will you be adding the big bud dlc to this map?

This was definitely among my favorite series of yours you've done so far, been watching for quite some time in my free time since I own and drive my own semi, this map has been updated since you've played on it and quite a number of things have changed. Would be very cool to perhaps see another go at this map from you, especially if it winds up getting converted to work with FS19! Love the videos Frithgar and I'm with you, this map is a nice challenge, definitely challenging with larger equipment and also extremely hard without using it.

The 747 big bud is if you include dlcs which is in the "hole" game
we have Valtra T 173 -180hp -2015, Valtra 8850mega 265hp -2001, new holland ts 90 turbo 120hp -1999 and International 675 -67hp -1976 and over 150cows and 180ha field... it can sound a bit small but here in Finland it's a lot. I love your videos, and sorry my bad english.

i would unload the bales in the straight parts near the farm then move them with a telehandler and the kerfab forks ftom blacksheep modding. would make it nice and easy

if you started in hills of slovenia that would take a LOT of getting used to
may I suggest an s6.90 with the big 17.2. meter header but then you need a combine with auger extensions and the only good one I found with that header is either the s6.90 John deeres or the claas lexion pack with all the models of the 700 series
I wonder whether the shorter auto-load bale trailers would be easier to maneuver on the tight roads/gates? You could use more of them to achieve an equivalent capacity.
They might, although I don't think I'd get them into the barn still, the extra pivot points will still have the trailers catching on the gate posts getting in. Selling bales might have to be limited to just two trailers, or we will need to split the train to sell the bales
You should bought an quadtrac so when the big bud dlc is coming you can use the biggest seeder, and its narrower than the challenger.
I'll probably end up getting several large tractors

Nice Video. But "Roads Trains" are highly illegal FYI in the States. And Impractical at that
Some areas of the states allow a double trailer like we've been using, I don't think more than two trailers are allowed though. That being said, we're going to get a special licence from the local governer for some nice big road trains :)

Hi Frithgar, i have just a question, the money came with the map? or you just gave it?
We added it in, our last timelapse series ended with us getting 5 million for our farm and machinery which is what we brought with us
so, you decide to continue with money from Goldcrest Valley? seems legit. :)

Hey Frithgar I dont seem to be able to launch this map with any mods/dlcs loaded. I love the the map because of the sugar beet factory and in general but its killing me not being able to launch it with the sugar beet mods. Did you have any issues with loading mods?

New map!! It looks good, but it's just annoying how small the roads are. As someone who lives around that area, I can tell you that it's not realistic at all. Roads are nice and big, to accommodate the large vehicles and traffic...
I quite like the roads like this, big roads for moving around the map with smaller back roads, makes moving the machinery a challenge as you've got to plan your route each time. Are you talking about roads a little wider or are they wide enough to drive the combine down without removing the header?
Most roads around here are multiple lanes, so you can keep a header on while still driving in the same direction lanes. Usually drivers will have a truck drive ahead with lights to warn other drivers, just to make it safer

I know you try to keep non mod hub mods to a minimum, but might I suggest Courseplay. Or have you ruled that out?
Not ruled it out yet, but will see, I'd rather not use it yet as I prefer not to automate things too much

I do, because we did a LOT of ploughing with it for contracting jobs to earn money. I also don't like that it's not a reversible plough, however I thought it would be ok for the hired helpers to use, and we'll be getting the bigger one with the DLC in a few weeks time :)

Matt Grover putting triples is not unrealstic they use those up north west in the us with huge 84 ft air drills.

I'm hoping to get at least one of each of the large articulated tractors, also maybe a couple Big Buds when they come out. We're going to need lots of tractors and hired helpers to run this map!

Man maps like this make me really want to buy a gaming rig so I can play demanding simulation games like this, atlas for the time being I only have a Xbox... Any suggestions for affordable PCs?
I personally use places that custom build rigs for you as it's usually better value for money than an off the shelf rig, especially if you want a gaming rig. However, if you want something that can handle more demanding maps, you're going to be spending a lot more than you would for a new console, so speak to the people that build them for advice on what you'd need for your particular rig.
Frithgar ya that was at the back of my head but my friends are always saying get a Alienware or digital storm pc and my brother always making up stupid reasons not to get a custom but getting a upgradeable rig has always been a idea I’ll start looking for some of these sites, see if get a starter for the 1k-1.2k range, move up to a demanding vr capable rig
Depends what country you're in, £1000-£1200 here in the UK will get you a very nice rig, however if you're in the US that's about $1500, not sure what currency you're using! Personally, I think Alienware used to be really good, however in the last ten years the quality has dropped slightly and they're now about the same as many other premade rigs. Good, but not fantastic. I always go for a custom rig as it can be built around my specifications and I've often found the places that build such rigs have better customer service than places that sell them straight off the shelf. If you're looking to future proof it somewhat so you can upgrade later, I'd advise getting the most up to date motherboard you can afford, as that will simplify buying replacement components down the line.
Try out the mouse steering mod. It helped me wonders with driving articulated tractors!

you can't get much bigger comines than the cr10.90 because the cr 10.90 is the biggest combine in the world.
I rember you being so fed up with the Salford plow in goldcrest I was surprised to see you use it now.
The Salford is really the only option for this map because the roads are too narrow for any other one.
not really. there is the vaderstad topdown 700 with someone converted to a plough. and also a 50 ft Disk harrow which i think would fit nicely. i already know it fits on this map because i used it on this map ^^.
I went for the Salford as we don't actually need to use it ourselves, we're letting the hired help do it for us. Also, it's only a temporary job until the Big Bud DLC, we'll be using the plough that comes with that :)
