- A quick look around the site in Walton Street, Hull in the UK, the lo action of Europe's largest travelling funfair and the world's OLDEST travelling funfair, starting in the 13th century the fair is over 700 years old now.
We just take a look at the area which is usually used as a car park for Hull City football club supporters on matchdays, and it's also a Sunday and Wednesday Market.
We will be making a follow up progress video in a few days, and we will be there on open night 😁.

nottingham goose fair started today cos of covid for last 2 years its bin on for 10 days ,thats crazy really ...,near on million folk pop down from all over the uk,, the streets are lined with coaches its bizarre really .the atmospheric noise is amazing tho ,hull fair is really good never bin my self but if you get chance pop to nottingham to video goose fair pop down ,,, I did like your video tho keep em coming mate 👍

Hello, nice vid 😊 But can you say why you claim that this is the biggest travelling fun fair in Europe? What criteria do you use? I ask this not to attack you but I see many claims of people saying this fair is the biggest and I am just curious. In England you also have the Hoppings in New Castle, is Hull bigger? Some people say the Hoppings is the biggest.
In Germany you have some huge fairs (called Kirmes in German) and the one in Herne (the Cranger Kirmes) is huge with over 500 attractions and stalles. Then there is the october fest in Munchen, it is also very large.
In France you also have large fairs (called foir, or foire) and I don't have examples at hand at the moment

No it's marketing hull depending on what metric you use isn't even the biggest in England let alone the massive fairs in Germany and France.
Hi, thanks, jm just repeating what's been published in the hull daily mail and articles I have found online stating that it is indeed the largest travelling funfair in Europe and the oldest dating back to the 13th century, granted the Internet can always offer conflicting information though 😅
Is the fair free to walk around? I've never been so might actually go this year.
Hi, it is free yeah, sometimes it's worth just walking around without spending a penny just to soak up the atmosphere 😁

Largest in Europe? You not been to Goose fair then which covers more ground and is more spectacular.
Covers more ground , but i do believe hull fair contains more attractions than goose fair, there are different claims from different fairs as someone has already pointed out in other comments 😁, im just relating information stated by local media and posters etc 😁have a great day, thanks 😊
I will not be going to Hull Fair... Expensive hell hole
It can be expensive if you let it, however the fair is free to walk around, take in the sights, sounds and smells of a historic traditional travelling funfair 😁
Hull is not the oldest fair in England let alone in the world. Both Loughborough 800 years and Ilkeston, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, and a few more are much older than hull fair.
Also not the biggest fair in Europe. That's marketing. Depending on what metric you use both Nottingham goose and Newcastle Hoppings can also claim to be the biggest in the UK but also a lot of the fairs in Germany and France are much bigger and longer than hull fair.
Brilliant pull on coverage tho. Don't believe the marketing tho.
I was only stating what has been published in the local media and on the Internet, think the fair started in 1278 so it is still a pretty old fair but thanks for the information, didn't mean to upset anyone, genuinely just a video to show the site before it's made into the fair 😊
