- Here are 4 things that I think ICP Internet Computer does incredibly well in the crypto space. Not only does the ICP crypto push boundaries in decentralized web 3 infrastructure, but they are improving the seamlessness of web 2 to web 3 interactions.

Anyways, I watched all your criticisms on icp. While some of them were overblown by you, they're still valid criticisms. ICP is only getting started and for all I care, its technology is years ahead of the rest of the space....so when people don't understand it, I don't take it on them. Welcome to ICP.

Thing is that it took a long time for people to understand Bitcoin too. ICP is not just an other token in my opinion. IC is the future of the Web. Im actually more or less a Bitcoin maximalist. I don't look for gambling even if the odds are good. Im an investor, so I buy future tech. I hold ETH once as well, as it was The closest to Web3. But now there is no point as it turned out ICP was the first True web3 blockchain and protocol
I don't mind if people dont understand ICP, but to many content creators & comments create FUD and don't do enough due dilligence before making an erroneous opinion like it's fact. I'm not harsh on them or even rude, but I'll batter them with facts. Good to see Dawson took the comments seriously and kept researching, I've been into icp since Feb 2023 and I still keep learning more about ICP nearly daily... it is endless.
@@thorazine0076 i totally agree with that comment. Be respectful and Nice to people, even if They don't know what They are talking about. As I have put in hundreds and hundreds of hours into learning and understanding ICP I more than often watch a video some content creator have done, speaking of things not researched properly. Just educate them, or ignore them, how irritating it might be.

In my opinion, the biggest innovation that ICP has to offer is the new type of DAOs. I think DAOs will replace public limited companys as a form of organisation in the long term. The reason why is simple, DAOs are much more efficient than a traditional company. ICPCC is the first DAO to prove this, as it is officially registered as a legal entity. This means that the DAO is also capable of acting in the real world. Only possible on ICP so far !

@dawsonallen inflation? How is ~4% a problem considering that icp is just 3 years old? Older chains are still on above ~4% annual inflation.
What don't you like about the staking?
Node wise, icp has more decentralised Node than many L1s in the industry including eth. Decentralisation-wise, icp nakamoto coefficient is well above 130. That's almost 2x more decentralised than anything else in the space... I don't see problems there unless if there's something I'm not seeing that you're seeing...
@@dawsonallen I don't see the inflation as a bad thing 4%, check out Zero to Hero' very acredited background, he has heavily been discussing inflation lately in last few videos, ICP will almost certainly be deflationary within 5yrs imo. I like the staking for many reasons, it's up to you how long you want to stake for, personally I only have a small 8yr bag, most of it's unlocked in 2025, I'll have gained approx 450 ICP by then. I'll re-accumulate in the bearmarket. I hear what you are saying about who controls the nodes, there's still a long way into the future. Mining, Nodes, etc..all have this issue, imo.

Brilliant analysis - however ICP is also very serious on solutions for setting up DAOs - Also the very large Intelligent contracts (canisters), that can store everything, are unique.
You can also do HTTPS outcalls with ICP. The smart contracts can directly access web2, so you can retrieve market data, send emails, etc without bridges.
What L1’s cryptos do onchain, transactions mostly, use centralized hackable Cloud. What ICP does 100% onchain, true Web3, Transactions, AI, smart contracts, NFTS, Social Media, Messaging apps, Music Streaming, Videos, Metaverse, Gaming, Blogging apps, Ordinals, Defi, Layer 2 for BTC ETH SOL, Email, RWA (gold, diamonds, etc.), Data storage, Back, Front end hosting, Interoperability, Utopia Security and AI for Web2, Solves a 10 trillion a year cybersecurity issue. Since ICP is full stack it covers nearly every narrative in crypto you can think of… this is the start of blockchain singularity. Chew on that for awhile.

@@dawsonallen not at all actually the current inflation rate of icp is less then most cryptos and they do have a burn mechanism and as more people use icp it will be like ethereum and become deflationary

The other thing about ICP having everything on chain is that it's un hackable too and Devs don't need to invest in legacy IT security costs, this opens up a whole new market for software that needs this s extra security layer.
The RGF Model is the future. It rewards people for holding ICP. In addition holding ICP secures the NNS. In addition , ICP can not be hacked because it is a closed circuit. A World without Hacks. Can you imagine what that is worth ?

@@dawsonallen sure, there are some knock offs of ICP tech out there already. But none has it all. The most important parts of ICP as far as adoption, no other chain will have in many, many years. More and more developers like myself will move over to ICP, I'm sure of.

What about filtering out the majority of garbage??? Like anything in life only the top 5% of ideas/projects are great but the 1 thing I keep seeing on ICP is a ton of mediocre ideas. I would love to see icp implementing some sort of filtering system where the best of the best ideas projects gets visibility. I really wish icp flourishes as I believe in this project but there's needs better implementation of certain procedures which seems lacking right now.

The question about devs - "How do they make money?"
They get paid by either the DFINITY Foundation selling your ICP tokens (dumping on you)
or by other investors who are speculating and trying to make some money until the market is hot.
That's it.

I guess the devs get paid in the same way that any other devs get paid? They create a product and sell it to people through subscriptions or one-off payments. ICP just covers the cost of running application in a distributed way. People running nodes get paid in ICP and people using those nodes to host their apps pay in ICP but they make their money from users in fiat or whatever other currency.
ICP as a currency is basically the fuel to pay for running apps/websites on the ICP network. The question is whether running something on ICP is better than alternatives like AWS. It is better for various reasons but perhaps not for every use case. One advantage is that it isn't owned by any one company (like AWS) housed in various data centres/compute centres and is distributed across many nodes run in independent data/compute centres. Other than the decentralised and transparent aspects of blockchains the question is also about costs. AWS can be very expensive and if the other aspects of blockhain technology aren't what you care about the cost will be the main factor. If they can handle runnings generic websites e.g. online stores, blogs, social networks, messaging apps etc. cheaper than AWS it'd already be pretty useful, even if they don't support more specialised apps.
