  • The October Revolution gave way to Yugoslavia and Yugoslavia gave way to a satirical, puzzling band: Laibach. Elif Bereketli caught up with one of the founding members to talk about the band's controversial ways, forgotten dreams of Yugoslavia and being the first Western band to perform in North Korea.

Laibach is only controversial if you are oblivious to satire and blind towards politics.

I met Ivan Novak several years ago at a Laibach concert in Portland, Oregon. He is a class act and a true gentleman. I hope he and Laibach are around for many years to come and I look forward to seeing where the future takes them.

Looking at Novak's shirt, I wonder when Laibach will cover "Jailhouse Rock". Or maybe "American Trilogy"?
