      Kekman jx25 it’s actually the shortest leg, there’s a lot that goes into it. Fastest is usually second because that tends to be the longest but personalities play into what leg you run too

      The order is typically second slowest, fastest, slowest, second fastest but some other things matter too like who starts the best, who runs better on curves, etc.

    • @idealrunner5043
      @idealrunner5043 Před 5 lety

      Karl Marx that’s a common misconception and I can respectfully prove you wrong just by watching this race. Take a team with ideal handoffs (towards the last third of the zone) and you’ll get what I mean. Due to the way the race is structured, each athlete is required to cover at least 100 meters (or whatever is left on the track) with the baton. So for the first leg, a hand off cannot even occur until exactly 100 meters; however, to be as efficient as possible handoffs are most practical late in a zone to keep it moving as fast as possible (as the race is not won by the four fastest runners but who gets the baton around the track the fastest). So the first leg will usually run 110-120 meters. The next leg will then run around 120-130 meters (but usually 100-105 with the baton) and the third leg will do the same thing. The final exchange zone runs from 110-90 meters from the finish line. If the relay team has yet another good handoff, the anchor leg should get the baton with around 95 meters left, maybe less if they’re lucky/late. Thus, the runner has the shortest leg of the three

    • @zombie-bv9pr
      @zombie-bv9pr Před 5 lety +1

      @@username8644 110m is literally the longest distance that the anchor can possibly run (with the baton) if the 3rd leg gives it to him RIGHT as he enters the exchange zone

      I ran the 4x1 in highschool. We never worked on passing the baton. There really wasn't time in the season to do so. You have to figure, the coaches want to make sure all of their sprinters are training and peaking at the right times. IF they pass the baton decent enough to win meets or place, then 90% of the work is already done.

      Teenagers are hard group to work with in that regards. You can tell them, hey you have to do this and this to improve their performance but some can't seem to grasp their heads around what you're telling them. I'm certain his coaches have told him about that but he figures he's "comfortable" like that and he doesn't need to make any changes.
