The marine carbon cycle consists of the biological pump, the carbonate pump and the physical pump. The biological processes of respiration, predation, death and decomposition, along with physical processes such as the thermohaline circulation, work together to remove carbon from the atmosphere and sequester it in the oceans. In this video we'll explore what makes the oceans a net carbon sink, and why the marine world is so important to the global carbon cycle.

I wonder if this is a one man production, it's so high quality. Exceptional job on this piece. You don’t see many videos explaining Earth’s carbon cycle in such great detail like this. Very relaxing tone, a soothing and somewhat spiritual viewing experience, ideal for multiple play throughs.

If you hear the words and see them at the same time, your brain will have more clues to put together an interpretation of them. That's what I'm doing with my studies .of Japanese. I hope this helps!

Carbon is what makes life on this earth thrive, without we all die. This video shows how vital it is for all life.
Too little and the basic building blocks of life are unable to form.
Too much and the planet’s atmosphere becomes too unstable or too extreme to support life.
It’s a careful balancing act, fascinating stuff!
Removing all carbon from the air would create famine, both ocean and forests of grass need it.
Your channel has been binge watch material, with me having seen every. Single. Video. Probably about 7 times over. I'm chronically ill and disabled, often ending up in the hospital or stuck in the house. Right now I have pneumonia (3rd time this year) and here I am, back to my comfort channel. I was that "weird" kid (I'm not weird, they just found out that I'm autistic :) ), i never liked cartoons. It was animal planet (specifically the shows "i shouldnt be alive" and "untamed and uncut"), HGTV and food network. This channel, for as long as it is going, will always be so important to me. You probably wont even see this but you get plenty of praise that I see you acknowledge. Never feel like you dont make an impact, because you are doing more than you will ever know. You have great talent, man. I think we are close in age, I hope to one day be showing my children your future internationally-recognized documentary on the television. David Attenborough couldnt have a more fitting successor- I hope you meet him.

I can't understand at very first watch , if I have to understand this I need to watch it at least three time, first time I got nothing, second time very little , third time most of the English word being spoken here need to be searched down then I can understand the concept of how .

This is what so many climate change deniers need to understand. I've actually seen the "fast carbon cycle" used by one denier as argument that CO2 levels constantly fluctuate. It took one google by myself to find major problems in his argument. Then there's content and creators such as this channel, thank god!

I hate trying to have a conversation with either side. Both are ignorant. We are having an impact, is it so imperative we fix it at the cost of the world economy trying to stop it? No, let's invest in clean energy. Not solar or wind. We don't have the battery technology to make it worth it yet, but geothermal, and nuclear energy that's something I can get behind.

Fossil Fuels come from the Carboniferous period of the Paleozoic era, plants that had lignan were brand new at this time so decomposers that consumed lignan had not evolved yet to consume the dead trees, so the remains compacted into the sediment and stored carbon while the C14 isotopes started to deplete.
The half life of the radioactive Carbon 14 isotope is 5,730 years. Fossil Fuels don't have C14 because it already depleted. Since the industrial revolution we've seen an increase in C13 and C12, NOT C14. Natural recent release has C14 and the increase of the ratio between C12 and C13 found in the atmosphere was the same ratio found in plants. This is how they knew Climate Change is anthropogenic, they saw that trend and knew there was absolutely only one thing it could of been, a plant older than 12,000 years that was depleted of C14...fossil fuels.
There has been no increase in the level of Carbon 14, but there has been an increase in Carbon 12 and Carbon 13, fossil fuels don't have Carbon 14

This is such an important topic. Everytime someone says to me, 'who cares if whale's go extinct' or 'who cares if the reefs are dying' or 'who cares if a little plastic gets in the ocean' I get so amazingly frustrated. Most people have no idea what what carbon cycling is or why it's so important. Why don't people know?

This was very well done and I enjoyed it a great bit, but I do wish you had touched on the other side of the process. The calcium required to bind to the carbonate and make it into rock, and where it comes from.
