    I fondly remember my Astute and Super Astute. The Super Astute was a real step up.

    I just built my super astute on my two days off from work (roll on for normal days again) the body I did light gun metal and runs a 10t brushless and 2s ! It's a bit of a rocket but suprisingly controllable! Good vid again looking forward to the second instalment👍

  • @smellurfingerrcdejesus9176

    I think this has to be one of my favorite videos now it is I like in the beginning and how you were jumping around and then the music oh man that was awesome

    That really is a very special RWD Tamiya, Gavin. I have been looking at this one for some time, just costs a few pennies - Nice going my friend. BTW I did reply to your Tag video and explained that I was one of the first in the chain! I know notifications ain't working properly at the mo. All the best mate. :))

      I had one back in 89, Mark. As Gavin said, it was a bit fragile....
      CRP and Lunsford Racing made some stout replacement parts for it, which then made it strong... But HEAVY! 😖
      They were very limited then, I doubt any still exist today...
      I Raced a Team Associated RC10 B1 in the Semi Pro circuit... But I absolutely LOVED this Buggy for just bombing about at a local dirt track! It was awesome for practice.... It HANDLED just like a pro Buggy, not as precise, but it didn't hurt as bad if you stuffed it, as opposed to my $350 (IN 1990!!) Pro car!! 😲
      This rere looks bloody FANTASTIC!!
      Cheers 🍻 Mate!

      You are most welcome lol. I left the camera recording and found the footage when editing up hehehe. It was lovely and sunny yesterday in the UK so I can the window open and the music on.

    Absolutely love your video's, but I admit I did laugh when I saw your servo! I have just bought a Super Astute to build (no idea of the issues until I did some more research) and literally one day before your video slapped my own head and realised what I needed to get was something that I'd never had before. I went with the Savox too as it was the cheapest available and seemed like a good choice. I also had to go with PS-57 as I couldn't get PS-1 and buy the extra ball races! Great work sir. Cheers.

    I'd love to see a video showing the progression of Tamiya buggies, especially ones that might be somewhat suited towards racing... like what different ones followed the Asute, etc... I'm looking to build a Neo Fighter for trying on the track a bit, but also wondering if there might be a few others that would be suitable for the track some...
    Looking into possibly trying to get a Sand Viper, Dark Impact, Zahhak, etc...

    Hiya Gav. Just subscribed to your channel. Thanks for this video, very informative, and "influential". I've not long received a Super Astute kit, it's one I always wanted as a kid, but like most of us in this age group, I could never afford one.
    I've already built and painted it, but like you I don't have the right servo, or even an ESC or motor. Now thanks to your "influence" hahaha I now know exactly what I need. I'm going on the www to search for those much needed electrics now. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do a running video of the Super Astute.
    Keep up the fantastic work.
    Cheers

    I ran an Astute in a comp once but it was not good so i got an RC10 :)
    Astute and S Astute are my all time fav Tamiya cars.

    I had the original at launch, the only real weakness was the rear hubs. They had toe in / out adjustment but where they attached to the hub they would snap off. The answer was fitting madcap rear hubs without the adjustment. Wish I still had it !

  • @CarminesRCTipsandTricks

    Gavin, what a fantastic bit of Kit!! 😎👍👍 So far it looks as well thought out as the Original, which I had in 1990 (first Astute). I mentioned in a comment below to my good Friend Mark Bryan, that CRP and Lunsford Racing made some stout replacement parts for it, that I'm certain wouldn't exist today.
    Still, what a NICE Buggy!!
    Though in TYPICAL Tamiya fashion, all that goodness - and they FAILED this Kit with those SLOPPY Rod Ends!! 😡😖 Nobody need cost savings like THAT on a top Kit.
    Regardless, I predict that it will be your BEST driving 2WD Buggies!
    Please stay SAFE! 😷

    That's a nice buggy and thanks for another great video. I just don't get the price Tamiya claims for it. It is quite expensive in my opinion!

    My first buggy. still got it but with a random replacement wing. always had problem with rear shocks grinding on the body shell. other than that it is a great buggy.

    What's the flashing red reflection on the plastic trees?

    • @dannyseville2543
      @dannyseville2543 Před 4 lety

      I was wondering that. Probably just a recording light?

    • @RCKickschannel
      @RCKickschannel  Před 4 lety

      I have an autocue and the red light is a reflection on the glass from the inside. I need to cover it up as it can be seen in the footage I know.

  • @dannyseville2543

    That thin plate flat chassis does look very fragile. I'm guessing it's not going to take much punishment?

  • @garyrussell1749

    In my re re I fitted a standard steering servo, but you need 2mm spacers between the servo mounts and the servo, I used a futaba S3010 ,just fits,and i mean just , also fitted a Technigold motor too.

    • @RCKickschannel
      @RCKickschannel  Před 4 lety

      You got a full size servo in, nice. Well I’ve ordered one now but that’s for letting us know.

    How did you mount the tires? The rears are impossible to mount!

    • @Fluterra
      @Fluterra Před 2 lety

      I mounted them but they are far too soft. The rears stay compressed for a few seconds when squeezed! I’m adding sponges.

    • @RCKickschannel

      Yes but it has some bushes in the arms that I guess can be replaced.

    Great video thank you. I’m in Australia and I’m wanting to get into building and cannot buy a kit as no retailers have any in stock. Do you know if Tamiya will be releasing any kits like the hornets or boomerang?

    • @RCKickschannel
      @RCKickschannel  Před 4 lety

      Tamiya have already rereleased the Boomerang and the Hornet before. The boomerang is getting harder to find NIB now so you beat hunt one out ASAP 👍🏻

    • @RCKickschannel
      @RCKickschannel  Před 4 lety

      I have Traxxas TRX4, Schumacher CAT K1 Aero, four Kyosho Mid vintage cars, RC10 Gold Pan, Kyosho Optima Turbo and I’m about to get a Kyosho Tomahawk. I’m also looking for a Kyosho Mid SE. I get the cars I like, but Tamiya cars are popular and a lot easier to acquire in the UK. In my childhood it was all Tamiya and Schumacher.

    I like the videos but that music is enough to drive someone insane. Stop playing that type of music and focus on the builds. JMHO.
