What we see here not fully fit maradona at 33, he still magical though..back then player above 32 consider as old player, now we can see modric, messi, ronaldo, lewandowski still playing great at 35 + . fitness is on another level by today's standard. RIP Maradona

Agree, but not the greatest in WC94 (defense weak point, despite Sensini, was not that great.) Italy had Maldini, Baresi just to make a comparison......and then R.Baggio who was the greatest back then, Donadoni. Anyway surely better than the today Argentina.😊

Non sense, both central defenders were a disaster. The midfield was absolutely inferior to WC 2022.
Robbed? They got beat fair and square. Maradona got done for drugs, which he shouldn’t have been doing and as usual they imploded.

Such a shame that Maradona got himself disqualified from this tournament. He was taking a banned weight loss supplement, apparently. I don't know if he even knew it was illegal, but it's just a shame that he took such poor care of his health from the late 80s onward and thus put himself in a difficult position (needing to lose loads of weight naturally). Argentina were on fire in this game, the one touch football was brilliant, I remember seeing the goal highlights and being pleased for Maradona that he had got himself back into decent shape (he had ballooned in size in the early 90s).
Apparently, Maradona was taking "Ripped Fuel", but in Argentina and in Europe, was without ephedrine - which was the substance detected in the doping test -. In the U.S.A., one of Argentina's staff went to buy "Ripped fuel" but in America it contains Ephedrine due it's was not a banned substance in main sports there. The sad thing was that Ephedrine was taken from the banned substance by the FIFA for France 98, except for an amount quantities, which in the case of Maradona in 1994, was minimun...so with France 98 regulations, Maradona won't be banned.

Greece 2004 actually a solid team. I have been playing CM01/02 for a long time and Greece players are some of the most dangerous players. I didnt feel it as too much big surprise when they won Euro 2004.
Since then Argentina has been World champion and Copa America champion , Greece has been European champion. England still blank since 1966🤣

Maradona became aggressive at the 1994 World Cup. If not banned, Argentina would have been given the champion trophy for sure. It was understood only by his opponent

After first round I said Argentina caught my eye, like Italy 90 after first round when Germany demolished Yoguslavia I said they are going to win it but 94 Argentina was entertaining. But FIFA president was Brazilian and Brazil has not won it for 24 years so they decided to end Argentina as the only rival. Germany was ageing England and France didn't qualify. Italy was struggling and Portugal was absent and Netherlands was not a contender after the golden generation of 88 till 92
