I wouldn't even pay $35 to eat with James Hetfield. I used to love Metallica but this dude lives in a mansion, he is said to own HUNDREDS of high end guitars that cost thousands, made fun of Kurt Cobain when he died, and copied many European bands such as Mercyful Fate, Stone and countless others while still profiting and gaining fame FAR GREATER than MANY artists who work harder and have more skill and originality. I respect that he does charity work, but many people do far more than him and he still gets more recognition. This fundraiser is kind of a huge slap in the face because he gets to look like a great guy while his FANS are the real heroes, and you never truly know how much ACTUALLY goes to charity in these kind of fundraisers
I don't know about spending 33 grand to spend time with this guy. I would rather see someone spend 33 grand to buy a truck load of good guitars, which would be given to a music school or several music schools.
Just give to charity and screw the rest. They just do things like this to make themselves look better. If he double or tripled the winning amount, maybe.
Dave Mustaine's the man. He was at Foxwoods in CT last year and was just shooting the shit in the mic and talking about conspiracies ths whole time. 😂😂
$35,000 to eat with Hetfield?!?! The sorry sap that wins will probably be paying off Hetfields credit card debt?!?! Genius for Hetfield, not so much for anyone else!
I think by now most should realize those seeking to be a celebrity, for the most part, have zero issues raising YOUR money for causes THEY care about, but not so eager to spend their own.
Not just that.... most people cant afford a metallica ticlet now a days and they still get sick and like a princess they cancell the shows and offer no refunds, a simpple sorry and well honor your ticket for the next show .... regardless if its in europe, you dont go, you lost your ticket money. @@honigdachs. Metallica took the credit for the donations and that gives them financial benefits. Its no different than Mrbeast donating to give himself clout.

If it was Lars Ulrich they would have to pay me. I have met that guy on a few occasions and every time he was a 100% a-hole!!!!! I have never met James but I have met Kirk and he was always nice laid back soft-spoken. That was at least 15 years ago. I live in the Bay Area and James used to live in the same town I lived in Novato California. Yeah the day of the rock star is dead! Great video as always See you on the next one bro......🤘
Dude if you have 35k to give them paying for dinner is a drop in a hat. I am a fan of Metallica but for 35k I can find better options plus I’d rather eat dinner with someone down here with us normal folk. Hell I’d rather hangout with I’m sure we’d have better conversation
if i was very wealthy i would do it BUT! i’d want to go back to James’s house and have him show me his guitars 🎸 collection and i get to jam with him,and hopefully Kurt stop by,but in all seriousness that is a ridiculous amount to do anything like that i don’t care if it is for charity
I’d rather hang out with Dave Mustaine. My brother met him after a show in Birmingham, AL and said he was very approachable and friendly and didn’t charge money for autographs or anything.
Why would eating lunch with rock star be worth any amount of money. Now, if you casually happen to be sitting next to a rock star, and some sorta conversation strikes up, then that could be interesting. But paying or winning to hand out, ugh And what is there to talk about? Did you really kick the dog and that's why Mustaine punched you, then Mustaine was kicked out? ahah
Im sure there are multiple people who would jump at the chance just like the folks who can't wait to spend $$$ on a relic custom shop guitar or PRS core model. If my bamk account looked like that I would just spring for a band i oike to play at my birthday party and enjoy a real rock n roll last supper 🎉
You know that my band has a contract and I would NEVER expect a fan to pay for my meal. It's sad but true, I wouldn't bid anything for that. I would be happy to donate to the cause but no celeb. is worth that.
I have no problem with this. James is lending his celebrity and time to a charity and if someone wants to make a sizable donation to that charity for a couple hours with him, good for them. I agree they should have partnered with others for the dinner, airfare and accommodations (charitable tax write offs). That is pretty lame those costs are on top of the winning bid.
Tbh I’m sadly not surprised or shocked. We live now in a World were the artists we support and contribute to their careers (tickets, Merch, music etc etc) charge their fans to meet them (Meet & Greets) when it should be the other way round. It’s all just a rip off now. Here in Europe you’re looking at a concert ticket for €150, t shirt for €50, beer for €8 and a meet and greet from €100 up. They can shove it where the sun don’t shine. And the irony is all these big bands would have told you that too back in the 80’s etc. Now they are the cowboys charging the extortionate prices 🤦♂️
If thi is all so legititmate, it seems to me the charity would organize everything including the dinner and hold a raffle, probably selling the tickets at $50 each.
To begin with, I will repeat something that I have probably put in previous comments, Max. I’ve been legally blind my entire life, and I have no dispute with charities focusing on people with physical or cognitive setbacks. That’s one reason why I don’t play mega millions but I do play Powerball, taking note at the part where half the jackpot proceeds go to teaching charities. Having made that clear, I will viscerally say, even if I had $35,000 USD to my name, I don’t know if I would spend it even to have dinner with Neil Diamond, my first mainstream Pop hero, let alone with James Hetfield. That would probably change if I struck the Powerball jackpot myself, but I would probably be more likely to spend that kind of money on dinner with Neil Diamond to help promote the treatment or reversal of Parkinson’s disease. Aside from Neil )as well as Linda Ronstadt) having been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, my therapist from December 2021 to July 2023 (his last 19 months of life) also had to deal with it. I’ve also got a relative, Dr. Ben Segall, doing breakthrough research in the reversal of the effects from neurological breakdowns such as Parkinson’s and dementia. Of course, I can’t leave this part out. I did decide to participate in the Sweetwater sweepstakes for the 40th-anniversary celebration of the Def Leppard LP *Pyromania.* Not that I need a single piece of equipment offered in the sweepstakes, but it was still fun to create my entry and enter it.
I'm all for supporting charity but I'd argue that 99.99999999% of Metallica/James fans don't have deep enough pockets for an event like this. Especially in this economy. So... Hard Pass.
The guy who can pay that kind of money just to meet James Hetfield has probably enough money to pay for the dinner. That being said, I must admit that I just can't understand why people would pay to meet musicians in those meet and greet (I know, it's not the case here, but I have to put my two cents)... I mean, if I love a band's music, I'll buy the album and go to see them live. But that stops there. Keep in mind that they are no gods, but human beings who've been lucky enough to live their dream.

I don't think much of it at all, but I am aware that Metallica often donates for different charity organisations and causes, and I'm also aware that the mere mention of Hetfield and $33k will inevitably re-trigger a bunch of moronic metalheads' "money good, Napster bad" trauma.
$5 best I can do, man.
Seems like at that price, they could at least throw in a signature guitar.
