Thank you Rose. No need na mag-study ulit. Just apply sa mga companies na hiring ng Software Test Engineer. Normally if fresh grad, they will conduct trainings naman para knowledgeable ka sa Testing process bago ka nila ideploy sa project.

I'm an IT student and graduating this year. Software Engineer is one of my dream job kaya ng take ako ng IT course. I hope as a fresh grad nkapasok agad ako as Software Engineer. I hear malaki din pong factor ung nging thesis/capstone sa pag apply especially fresh grad. There's a chance to get that job since in our thesis, I'm the programmer of the team ??
There will be tons of opportunities in years to come, especially in fintech industry. I got an offer that i rejected 2 weeks ago at a healthcare industry. 160k offer for mid position. I turned it down kasi i will be going down from senior to mid which doesnt make sense to me. Plano ko talaga maging solutions architect đ 4 yrs of exp na ko ngayon. I started back in 2017 and my salary back then was 11k. Worth it yung pagpupuyat ko. Invest in your skills talaga priority muna kesa magreklamo sa sweldo cos it will ruin your career kung demanding agad kayo sa simula pa lang and you dont want to mature into a toxic employee. I know a lot of very skilled programmers/ developers with more than 5yrs exp.. and mas malaki pa sahod ng ibang kilala ko na QA sa kanila. depende talaga yan sa company na pinasukan mo. dapat piliin . dont settle. know your worth. yan rin mali ko nuon. 12k salary ko sa first company ko and testing is just like almost secondary basic skill for a programmer ..

To be honest, I dont have idea po on the salary of a semicon engineer and what you guys do. But what I can suggest is, if you are not happy on your current role then look for something else. :)
In addition, there are lot of companies who offer free trainings when they hire you as Soft Test Eng.

Hello Com sci student here in UP know the basics of python po invest sa learning in c or python . In college ksi they don't teach you in highschool manner na parang spoon feed. Para d ka mahirapan advance study...

Hi Ivy, Lyceum ako graduate. For the recommended schools, cguro for me the school wont matter as long as you do good in interviews. Though may ibang company na they prefer graduates of: Lasalle, Ateneo, UP and UST.

Hi po nahired po ako sa isang company as handset tester lang and now our manager want us to escalate from handset tester to Software Test engineer po.
I'm worried kasi di po ako IT field which is business ad po natapos ko, mahirap po ba yung trabaho ng software engineer?
Wala naman madaling work for me.. But if I am to compare it sa ibang work, mas okay ito kasi hindi ganon kahirap but the pay is very competitive. :)
Ate does the university you graduated matter po ba pag mag apply as Software Engineer. I am choosing between PUP Manila or UMak po kase. Malayo po samin yung PUP pero kilalang school then yung UMak is malapit samin pero di sya ganon kakilala compare to PUP. Sana po masagot, thank u.
Meron pong mga company na tinitingnan kung saan kang school graduate. Sometimes they pay higher sa mga top schools like LASALLE, ATENEO, UST, UP. In my experience parang mas mataas ang offer sknila ng 5k. hehe.

Depende po yan sa company and sa client. If mga foreign companies po, most likely ma-assign po kayo sa graveyard shift. Pero if not willing to be assigned sa ganong shift, pwede mo sya sabihin agad during interview. Just so you can set your expectations din.
Ask ko lang po kung same ang path ng IT at CS? Sa CS po ba magagamit ang mga tinuturong mga Maths like Calculus? Kasi po may mga self-taught na software engineer pero hindi naman nila pinag-aralan ang mga complicated maths.

Yung test cases po ba sa manual testing is sa company mang gagaling or sa project manager? Or QA employee mismo gumagawa? Ang nasa isip ko po kase is bibigayan kayo ng part example per modules tetest lang passed or failed ganon po.
QA po ang gagawa ng test cases based on requirement provided by the client.

Hello JM, sa work ba ang tanong mo? If sa work di masyado po. If sa course, yes po merong math subjects. As for the semester, meron po mga schools na trisem ang IT. Check mo nlng din sa preferred school mo if they do that.

Ate Kiela, di po ba kayo natatakot sa issue about ageism sa tech field? Balak ko po mag com sci eh kaso baka pag 50 nako or may edad na is alisin sa company dahil sa edad po or palitan ng mas mga batang employee. Or it is something I should not worry about. AHAHHAHAHHAH

There's is nothing to worry about. It actually depends on the company. If dumating man sa point na ganon, they will give you separation pay naman or other benefits. Pero as far as I know, konting company lang ang gumagawa nyan. If you are an asset sa team, kahit 50yrs old ka na.. they will never replace you. :)
Worst case scenario lang cguro if bumagsak ung company na pinapasukan mo and they need to lay off, baka unahin ung mga matatanda. haha! Sa company naman na napasukan ko, meron pa pong oldies. ;)

It depends actually kng anong career ka galing. If from dev ka and would like to be a tester, i think starting would be around 35-40k. If from other career naman, junior ka papatak na salary.

Nung panahon namin matagal, that was 10yrs ago. Cguro kasi sa dami ng gustong makapasok sa ACN. Pero what I can suggest, if gusto mo talaga ACN, wait mo lang result, super worth it if un ung 1st job mo. đ

Depende sa interviewer. I also conduct interviews, pero mostly ang questions ko ay experience (if meron) and also checking ako kng paano maghandle ng situation ung nag aapply. For fresh grads naman, dapat alam nyo ung thesis nyo.. kasi usually un ang tinatanong. đ

Oo naman. Yung kaklase ko nung college hindi rin nakatapos pero nahire naman ng isang company sa alabang. Ngayon, freelancer na sya. Pero take note na most companies talaga strict sa education level. Unfair talaga kahit may skill ka naman pero ganun talaga screening. Masyado pang bata ang industry natin to adopt new screening process. Kaya mo yan, makakahanap ka din. Mas mahihirapan ka maghanap kung feeling mo hindi ka qualified. Mindset can do you worse and great things. Choose to be a person to always bet on yourself kasi mararamdaman ng tech interviewers yan on how you deliver your words. Goodluck!
One more thing, its better to mention your education level sa recruiter screening pa lang. Highlight mo skill mo instead of reasoning why you didnt finish your studies.
