Just picked this machine up today. Was a little hesitant with the "static" issue on the grinder after watching this video and your comparison to the Breville Express. Almost went with the Breville but decided I just liked the look of this machine better, liked the tamper better, it was little cheaper than the Breville, liked the two year warranty, and the Phillips I picked up had a dual bean hopper. I'm happy to say my Phillips does not have the "static" issues you were having. Such easy set up as you described and the espresso is so much creamier and less bitter than the espresso we have been getting from our Nespresso Vertuo. We are very happy, so all good, thanks for the amazing reviews. I love how much detail you go into with these reviews, it's really helpful!!

I got mine and really liked it. No static issues on mine! The only ‘complaint’ is that the grinder has to be on a veeeery low setting - like 2. I wish I could be more on the mid point of settings. Not a lot of wiggle room left. Am doing 19g on the porta filter, which even at a very low grinder adjustment makes it go a bit over the max line in the basket, and still get a ‘low’ pressure indicator - I acknowledge to focus on the output of expresso more than on the pressure indicator, but I wonder about having things more ‘balanced’ - what grinder settings has ECS Coffee used??

I have another of the "clones" with the same 58mm portafilter with the rubber foot. I found accessories compatible with the Barsetto BAE01, BAE02, Calphalon Temp IQ machines will fit. I found a couple portafilters including bottomless, and a single dosing hopper w/bellows. Also using the portafilter with just a flared magnetic dosing funnel helps a lot with the powder issue. I do like the dosing adjustment and single button americano functions on this one.

This looks a lot like the Smeg machine, are they made by the same manufacturer?

Average machine from Asia that is rebranded by multiple other brands..
I would go with the new Ninja Espresso machine called The Luxe or spend a little more and get that newly released Kickstarter Espresso Machine that has two boilers and a rotating pump.

As a drinker of Americano myself as well, I have a Philips 5400 which is great but looking to dive into semi automatic machine for better test, what machine would you recommend for best Americano drink? Thank you 😊

Very good review of this machine. Also, I could not find it on the website link included here (even after searching for it). Thank you!❤❤

How do you know how many grams of coffee are dispersed without having to grind, weigh, and adjust often? I assume you use single dosing. Is the extraction timer set by the factory or adjustable?

If you are using the machine as stock you won't know how many grams are being ground. You would have to single dose to know how many grams are being ground. This machine will pour volumetrically, and it is programmable :)

What would cause the static problem with this machine that you don't get on other machines?

    • @ecscoffeeinc

The burrs, how fast they move, and other materials around the grinding chamber will increase a static issue!

How would you rate it against breville barista express??
