- There are four diesel and three petrol engines to choose from for the Skoda Yeti - all turbocharged and with direct injection. The performance spectrum ranges from the 1.2 TSI with 77 kW and 105 hp to the 2.0 TDI with 125 kW and 170 hp. The fifth generation front or all-wheel drive with Haldex coupling is fitted depending on the engine specs. As an automatic transmission, the ŠKODA Yeti exclusively uses the modern six or seven-speed dual clutch transmission (DSG).
The Yeti GreenLine version with 77 kW 1.6 TDI, front wheel drive and a manual gearbox produces CO2 emissions of just 119 g/km. This corresponds to a consumption of 4.6 litres of diesel per 100 km (61 MPG).
Additionally, there are three Green tec engine variants for the 103 kW 2.0 TDI engine with manual six-speed transmission, 77 kW 1.6 TDI with seven-speed DSG and 90 kW 1.4 TSI petrol engine with manual six-speed transmission. The Green tec package includes the start-stop system, brake energy recovery (recuperation) and low rolling resistance tyres.
The diesel engine 2.0 TDI with 125 kW is now available with the fantastic combination of all-wheel drive and automatic six-speed dual clutch transmission. I have had a bmw, mercedes and a renault before yeti and i can honestly say that this car is not just a hype, it is the best car from every point of view, in my opinion. It is rugged and that is exactly what i want a car to be, most of the luxury is hidden, this is a car that does not have a need to boast... I love it

Have 4x4 terracotta orange yeti for 41/2 years. Love it. Don’t plan selling. Rugged with hidden luxury. Great sound system
can the 4x4 feature be turned off or disengaged?, or it is a permanent 4x4, like an all wheel drive.
The 4x4 system in the yeti (when the optional 4x4 button is fitted) is very capable and coupled with some good all season tyres has surprisingly good traction, I used my fathers during the heavy snow this past winter (heavy enough that we were cut of for a few days) and it was only let down by the lack of ground clearance, the only other vehicles about were true off-roaders and it held its own, great car, just needs to be 3-4 inches higher.

A very cleverly form-factored and seat-configured 4x4 cross-over/SUV at affordable prices. And that's a very nice coloured Yeti in the video. Nuff said.
I have a Yeti, same Muscavado colour as the one in the video, and 2 litre turbo diesel. It is an excellent, practical, economical car. Good tow car, and superb in snow,ice, and mud. It pulls very well from a little over 1100 rpm.

@@Lüfnarki The Yeti is a first class vehicle. I regret selling mine even now. Its 2 litre VW TDI Engine was simply fantastic. Its Electronic Diff Lock and Haldex 4WD system is very good indeed. Skoda really should have allowed the little Yeti to continue its life. The first generation was the best generation, all things considered.
This is a nice car when I buy this car I have climbed many mountains because of his engine

Not bad. I have drove trails like that with my 1997 and 2004 RAV4's. The 2004 has excellent off wheel traction like this one shows. I was wondering if any other soft roader out there could match my old RAV besides Subaru. Now I think I have found a worthy replacement.

If you are thinking about buying one of these be aware that they fall to bits after 3 years. I have a 59 plate yeti and both front doors had to be rewired as the wires split between the A pillar and the door. The heated seat elements needed replaced as well. Sadly the electrical systems and build quality are not up to much.
Mine is the older model which is 5 years old. It has run 1 lakh 45 thousand kilometers and not a single problem. Seems you haven't maintained your car properly!
The new 2014 yeti should be a hit. Already starting to make its way though to customers.

New iety will came with all the problems from vw. Fuel pump, injectors, all tipes of senzors, stearing computer, doors computers, comfort computers, in maximum 5 years you have to change something, and they are note came cheap ! Skoda build the name on the back of tha passat 5 !

Alexander Erdmann Mazdas are great, but I didn't buy one of these only because of its off-roading ability. It also happens to be built like a little tank. If the worst should happen and I'm in an accident, I know which car I'd rather be in compared with a Mazda 6. So the funky off-roading design of the Yeti isn't just cosmetic, and when you're in the Yeti you can feel the strength of build.
And btw Yetis are even more heavy than Mazda's CX5 SUV, which are far bigger than the Yeti.
Alexander Erdmann no. You couldnt. I had a rally car with a locked diff and lift kit AND mud tyres. It wouldnt go where that yeti was taken. I also had a short wheelbase pajero for many years so i actually know something about whats needed. Your mazda 6 would have gotten well stuck on the first set of bump that had the yeti cocking its rear wheel in the air. Over. And out. Then it would have skittered down that slope and smackedd a tree sideways at about 15-20kph. Then it would have drowned in that stream. Then it wouldnt have gotten out again.
And just about everywhere after the first 2minutes youd have rippedd your sump off and probably half the steering gear.
Same goes for all the other bellends gobbing off about how their two wheel drive woulda done that easy.
I have a fabia RS. No chance in HELL id take it anywhere near that road.

Меня всегда авторы удивляли своей фантазией к названию роликов. То дастер внедорожник , то етти офроод. Длин как маленькие дети.Честно слово.Если водитель в машине без резиновых сапог =то это полная хуетеньь а не покатушки. У нас в Москве такие дороги в некоторых районах. И люди умудряются каждый день ездить на работу и явно не на кроссоверах.

I absolutely agree!I can do the same with my Volvo P 1800 here..But I have a Skoda with Haldex,and it performs very bad...in 20 cm. snow I can drive 2-4 meters,and then I can´t move on...Even with best tyres money can buy..

I wonder whethr VW make sure all SKODAs are uglier than VWs. Yeti is a pumped up stretched golf but look a lot uglier due to bread loaf shape rear end. Look has been scarificed for practicality and although I am not a badge snob driving a santa fe myself, I would never go near Yeti.
Well then you're clearly missing something.. The Yeti doesn't try to express in looks, plus, I really like the shape of it, specially the front. I guess that's just taste.. But the practicality, low consumption, space, power and low costs in combination make this car so awesome. And if you're trying to compare a Golf with a Yeti then I guess there's no hope.

Hannah Gillatt I may be uglier than you are Hannah. As for German engineering, I know so about VW giving older gerneration technologies to it's subsidiaries like SEAT and SKODA and it is well known. SKODA SUPERB is a stretch out VW PASSAT. Yes it has it's own inguenuities but the engine is VW older tech. SEAT EXEO is an AUDI underneath. VW has to make sure it's subsidiaries do not out run it's own. A dirty motor industry trick which keep your own above it's step brethern. Learn it before commenting on strong and reliability blah balh. By the way you know SKODA is CHECZ, NO?
