My friends learned sign language so they could "talk" during class without the teacher noticing. Instead of passing notes, kids would pass signs. LMAO..
my boyfriend is 100% deaf and can read lips. He says he's fine reading my lips but I can tell it's hard for him. I'm learning ASL so I communicate with him better and learn his language. ❤️
I’m learning sign language so I won’t have to talk to people at my school
I'm 13 and have nobody deaf in my life whatsoever. However, I'm making an effort now since it's shown that kids learn faster than adults (since we're in a learning environment every day) and I want to pick up my language ability now. I'm learning basic German, Italian and Spanish as well as ASL. I want to learn ASL because I want to, should I ever meet someone deaf or hard of hearing, be able to communicate with them as best as I can :) You're helping me a lot and I look forward to more videos to help me and others learn.

Y'know, I had learned the sign language alphabet in school. It was a substitute teacher for English, and since we already knew the topics, she decided to teach us the alphabet. I found it fun, and a way to talk to my friends without getting caught in class. So I kept practising. Soon enough, a year had passed, and I was one of the last two people who remembered it, the other being my best friend. But as time went on, we started talking in sign language less and less, as the teachers had stopped changing our seats. I still practised the alphabet in my free time so I don't forget it, but I never really thought I'd ever use sign language again.
There’s a deaf person at the mall and I love the cookies she sells so I’m learning this just for her :)
I'm not deaf, but my girlfriend is beginning to go deaf so we're learning sign together. My dad is fluent, so he teaches us sometimes, but these videos have really helped.

I'm not deaf but when I was in the 5th grade my teacher let me come early in the morning everyday so she could teach me some sign language. I loved it. the tiny bit she taught me has stuck with me all my life.
