SATIE "Gymnopedie No. 1" (for Solo Flugelhorn with Piano)

Springtime in Western Pennsylvania is basically rain and gloominess, interspersed with moments nicer weather, and occasionally one of those incredibly beautiful days that makes you remember why you live in such a cloudy and overcast region! Here’s some “rainy day music,” as I like to call it. Erik Satie wrote his "Trois Gymnopedie" for solo piano. They are simple at first glance but are deceptively difficult in terms of phrasing. The marking at the beginning, oddly enough, translates literally to "slowly and painfully," but I think it would more aptly be "slowly and with sadness."

That and MF2 and The Chicago album and The best of Philip Jones etc just captivated me.
