As if the Elves of Rivendell sang a lament to the passing of Thorin Oakenshield.
Goddamn right it is!
gives me the same vibes!
Exactly, what I thought.
Just Rivendell?
Thorin would be lucky to get the Rivendell elves to sing him a song. Dude wasn't famous for his ability to make friends.
Exactly

Colm, loved your duet with Rachel. Also your channel is excellent. Thanks for all the great music 😊
Are we gonna get a nother duet with Rachel.
Santiana?
Same here, love your channel. Really loved your duet. The contrast of Rachel's and your version of Misty Mountains is amazing.
Why do I do that?
Whenever I open Rachel's recent videos: "there must be Colm's comment somewhere"
Whenever I open Colm's recent videos: "there must be Rachel's comment somewhere"
You both should made another duet soon I think..
This was stunning in every way, and I love the arrangement! You look straight out of Rivendell, of course.
Big fan of your channel, thank you for stopping by and for the kind words!
I second Rachel, your channel rocks my world and i try to spread the word of Bardcore everyday!
@@RachelHardy ok
Rachel Hardy well done u smashed this song love it and the Skyrim song u did as well u smashed that as well.
@@RachelHardyyou did well. Keep up the great work. Do you ever think about singing other songs from Lord of the rings ?
It’s like watching a beautiful Elf sing the Dwarven song, with such a lovely voice.
In the words of a wise man: “I’ve been looking forward to this.”
I think it was a sith lord actually... but that's a whole other discussion
@@tonybuk70 A Sith Lord of a more... civilized age.
Automatically read that with Christopher Lee’s voice lol
In the words of a young man: “My powers have doubled since the last time we met, Count.”
@@georgeofhamilton Good. Twice the pride, double the fall.
Anyone else “hit the like button” before even listening just because you know it’s gonna be incredible?
Everyone*
Me too :D
I admit, i did that.
And many more times before that.
yap
Yup
That was incredible! Would love to collab
Id love to collab Peter!
I Love and Admire both of your works So Much
Can't wait to see what you guys come up with :D
@@RachelHardy Can you sing rdr2 songs?
Oh man, I cannot wait to see a collab between you guys.
Woahh i cannot wait 😍
Imagine having her voice in the trailer for the battle of the five armies when the trailer first came out!
" Who is she ? "
" She's an Elf. "
No she is an angel
THAT EXPLAINS EVERYTHING!
my wife
@@evilsonic9999 lucky bastard!
Congrats brother 👌🏻
Sounds like an elf was singing it. Amazing, like other songs.
You don’t think I could pull off a beard?
@@RachelHardy I believe in you Rachel! Lol
@@RachelHardy I heard a few other covers of this, but your is one of the best. I'm thinking it could be overlaid with the Peter Hollens and Tim Faust, to have a Soprano, Tenor and Bass or have you heard their version yet?
@@RachelHardy THIS was your chance to pull off a beard without anyone even raising an eyebrow. You might never get such a good excuse for a beard again. (Which is kinda sad. I would have loved to see a Rachel Beardy.)
Elf doesn’t do her justice, I think Tolkien would describe her as an Elven Maiden. Tolkein's Elves are ethereal, beautiful creatures in touch with both heavenly as well earthly attributes. I also think Tolkien would be amazed to see so many beautiful renditions of his songs. Absolutely beautiful.
This is exactly how I imagined a dwarvish song would be like if it was sung by an elf. Loved it!
Ever since your cover of Toss A Coin to Your Witcher, I have been following your progress with glee. Seeing you progress is such a joy, the hard work you put into your videos really pays off.
Thanks so much for coming along for the ride!
Screw all those "pop stars" promoted by big labels. You and people like you, independent artists, are real stars to me! I bow to your talent. Every upload is absolute pleasure!
Thank you so much!! I’m glad you are enjoying the music 🙏🏼
I can't list how many better musicians I've found on CZcams who deserve so much more than actual industry people
you don't have to take down other artists to favor one. I'm just saying it
Bien d'accord avec toi ;)
But then we wouldn't have the songs in the first place. Like Enya Annie Lennox. For these other brilliant artist to sing there songs.
Ahhh I love Rachel's songs! Especially if it's the middle earth themed 😌
Anyone else get chills listening to this? because I sure as hell did! Great cover! I loved it!
You perfectly captured the haunting and mournful quality that makes this piece so powerful. I feel it's best performed when the arrangement is kept simple, and you did exactly that. Absolutely stunning, Rachel!
This cover is worth at least 2 Arkenstones 🧙🏻♂️
omg TWO?
@@RachelHardy That's the bare minimum. Maybe add the 7 rings of the dwarves and we can get closer to the actual value?
@@franciscloutier6343 the rings made the dwarf even more greedy for gold ect. don't think it's a good idea to give someone all 7 xD
Maybe the three elven rings and all the gold in the Lonely Mountain
@@azriellynch9043 the five wizards staffs
I don't understand why people dislike this. I really don't.
Almost nobody disliked. Only 8 trolls ^^
8 Orcs, that's all.
They cried in joy and missed the button through the tears
@@naomiuchiha0906 that makes sense.
Sauron, Smaug, Azog, Borg, one troll, and three other orcs and possibly Melkor Morgoth, Nazguls, and five more uruk-hais that's all.
Are you an angel? Elf? or something else? because you and your voice is clearly beyond our world.
She's the Demi-Godess of singing
Honestly clicked because I'm a LOTR fan, also because she is beyond beautiful. Her voice is ever more beautiful!!!
If Bilbo baggins heard this rn, he would again be inspired to go on the journey😀
This is one of those songs that I can't imagine sounding good with female vocals. But that's what I thought about "My mother told me" until Rachel changed my mind on that one, I guess I will realize how wrong I was about this one in a few hours.
I was a little nervous about this one for that reason. I tried to change it up and give it a new vibe, we'll see how it goes over.
This may sound crazy and a very different genre but I think hurt by Johnny cash you would kill an I would love to hear
Natydredd has a Gaelic Scottish accent and it’s incredibly well done.
@@RyanJuliaWhitney23 Considering that Tolkein referred The Hobbit, LOTR and The Silmarillion from Beowolf, it's not surprising he imagined the accents with a Gaelic lilt. Such would the Dawrves and Elves singing be, but the Hobbit songs have more of an English West Country (Somerset, Devon and Cornwall, with a dash of Welsh - all Celtic) to them.
This voice and the choice of the songs is nothing short of brilliant. Dear Rachel you have a lovely voice. Thank you for singing to us.
I'm so addicted to this version!! Absolutely the best!
I closed my eyes and imagined myself in the middle of a forest sitting on a tree and singing this while looking into the sky. You made my day!
Maybe she's a nymph??
Even a siren?
Already liked it and I haven't even heard it yet. Nice job Rachel 👏

Your profile pic is distracting
I thought an eyelash fell on my screen 😂
Far over the Misty Mountains cold
To dungeons deep and caverns old
We must away, ere break of day
To found our long-forgotten gold
The pines were roaring on the heights
The wind was moaning in the night
The fire was red, it flaming spread
The trees like torches blazed with light
The bells were ringing in the dale
And men looked up with faces pale
The dragon's ire, more fierce than fire
Laid low their towers and houses frail
Far over the Misty Mountains cold
To dungeons deep and caverns old
We must away, ere break of day
To found our long-forgotten gold
woooooow!!! she has dreamy voice! her voice like an Angel
Ok, this probably will be the next cover I'll have on repeat for weeks. Anxiety overflow.
oh boy those are some high expectations. I'm feeling the pressure.
@@RachelHardy hahaha I have faith in you!
@@RachelHardy amazing job as always
@@RachelHardy did NOT disappoint
Youre just my kinda guy.
Welcome back Rachel Hardy, it's been far to longe since we had a new song, from you.
I took a short hiatus! Happy to be back! :)
@@RachelHardy you seem tall, are you tall?
Me after reading the title: "Huh this could be interesting idk how it'd be the same with a woman's voice tho"
Me after 5 seconds: "I think I'm in love with this woman"
That is exactly what my thoughts were as well!
Ten times more soothing than any type of sleeping pills...
This is a pure example when pure singing and ASMR collide in an perfect balance.
Yeaaah, you took my suggestion. This is 100 % going to be the song i listen most to this year on Spotify. Last year it was your cover from the Witcher (642 times). But i think this cover will beat that
We all have to agree it cant get any better than this...
Wow, never thinked in my life I could listen an angel singing like that
Far over the Misty Mountains cold
To dungeons deep and caverns old
We must away, ere break of day
To seek our pale enchanted gold
The dwarves of yore made mighty spells
While hammers fell like ringing bells
In places deep, where dark things sleep
In hollow halls beneath the fells
For ancient king and elvish lord
There many a gleaming golden hoard
They shaped and wrought, and light they caught
To hide in gems on hilt of sword
On silver necklaces they strung
The flowering stars, on crowns they hung
The dragon-fire, on twisted wire
They meshed the light of moon and sun
Far over the Misty Mountains cold
To dungeons deep and caverns old
We must away, ere break of day
To claim our long-forgotten gold
Goblets they carved there for themselves
And harps of gold, where no man delves
There lay they long, and many a song
Was sung unheard by men or elves
The pines were roaring on the heights
The wind was moaning in the night
The fire was red, it flaming spread
The trees like torches blazed with light
The bells were ringing in the dale
And men looked up with faces pale
The dragon's ire, more fierce than fire
Laid low their towers and houses frail
The mountain smoked beneath the moon
The dwarves, they heard the tramp of doom
They fled the hall to dying fall
Beneath his feet, beneath the moon
Far over the Misty Mountains grim
To dungeons deep and caverns dim
We must away, ere break of day
To win our harps and gold from him!
The wind was on the withered heath
But in the forest stirred no leaf
There shadows lay be night or day
And dark things silent crept beneath
The wind came down from mountains cold
And like a tide it roared and rolled
The branches groaned, the forest moaned
And leaves were laid upon the mould
The wind went on from West to East;
All movement in the forest ceased
But shrill and harsh across the marsh
Its whistling voices were released
The grasses hissed, their tassels bent
The reeds were rattling--on it went
O'er shaken pool under heavens cool
Where racing clouds were torn and rent
It passed the Lonely Mountain bare
And swept above the dragon's lair
There black and dark lay boulders stark
And flying smoke was in the air
It left the world and took its flight
Over the wide seas of the night
The moon set sail upon the gale
And stars were fanned to leaping light
Under the Mountain dark and tall
The King has come unto his hall!
His foe is dead, the Worm of Dread
And ever so his foes shall fall!
The sword is sharp, the spear is long
The arrow swift, the Gate is strong
The heart is bold that looks on gold
The dwarves no more shall suffer wrong
The dwarves of yore made mighty spells
While hammers fell like ringing bells
In places deep, where dark things sleep
In hollow halls beneath the fells
On silver necklaces they strung
The light of stars, on crowns they hung
The dragon-fire, from twisted wire
The melody of harps they wrung
The mountain throne once more is freed!
O! Wandering folk, the summons heed!
Come haste! Come haste! Across the waste!
The king of friend and kin has need
Now call we over the mountains cold
'Come back unto the caverns old!
Here at the gates the king awaits
His hands are rich with gems and gold
The king has come unto his hall
Under the Mountain dark and tall
The Wyrm of Dread is slain and dead
And ever so our foes shall fall
Farewell we call to hearth and hall!
Though wind may blow and rain may fall
We must away, ere break of day
Far over the wood and mountain tall
To Rivendell, where Elves yet dwell
In glades beneath the misty fell
Through moor and waste we ride in haste
And whither then we cannot tell
With foes ahead, behind us dread
Beneath the sky shall be our bed
Until at last our toil be passed
Our journey done, our errand sped
We must away! We must away!
We ride before the break of day!
I’m gosh I love this
Thanks! I was wondering how the whole song went, wanted to listen to it. Now I think that's a bit too time consuming...

This was a pure masterpiece. I've been hoping you'd do this one for a long time!
This song gives me chills. And you sing it so beautifully. Keep touching hearts with your voice.
This song sounded really good in the higher notes. I'd love to hear this with you singing and at the same time having that deep baseline. This was awesome ❤
Don't do this to me!!!! Thorin singing it was emotional enough. I'm about to break down darn it
I just love the way different voices are shown if multiple frames. Excellent performance!
Such an angelic voice! ❤❤❤ Honestly made my heart melt just cuz it almost sounds like a lullaby to me! 🥰
Wow this woman has the magical voice of a siren! Beautiful cover and self-harmony!

Goosebumps an tears, it's the whole emotional package for me. Already listened to it several times and it's definitely going to be one of my all-time favorites. 💖
Hauntingly beautiful, thank you for this rendition of the misty mountains.
This was amazing! I could picture in my head the dwarves signing this and I wondered what you were going to do when they all joined in. Absolutely nailed it!
Full body chills listening to this. Beautifully done Rachel
Thanks for this cover, its simply amazing
I really love how her voice is so clear and tranquil, no extra fuss and stutters.
It reminds me of a clam lagoon, with depths of mystery.
Out of all the covers for this song I've heard this is by far number 1 keep up the great work 👏 ABSOLUTELY 💯

The voice of a true angel, I can't believe I was lucky enough to stumble across such a magnificent and beautiful sound ❤️ all the best for the future!!
Discovered you 6 years ago with the last goodbye. As a big fan of Tolkien and everything attached to it, I just want to thank you for making the songs even better. You are clearly underrated, but I have no doubt you will get everything you deserve ! (sorry if there is mistakes, english is not my first language =) )
Love your voice so calm and peaceful
A voice that reaches the soul, pure, magnificent, harmonious. A blessed voice. Congratulations on your work and may everyone hear the emotion that emanates from you, thank you for sharing your gift.
Rachel, You are truly an angel in every way: music, appearance, presence! More than appreciation! 👋👋👋👋👋
I love how you've brought through a different pitch to the song but it still has the same emotional tones. It still has the pain and sorrow that made the song from the Hobbit a stand out moment in the hobbit trilogy. Definitely earned the sub.
Absolutely beautiful, well-done Rachel!
Wow... I.... just wow. I have no words for how beautiful this is.
I cannot express what it feels like listening to your angelic voice.
Unimaginable, thank you so much.
Thank you for your great performance of this song. It´s my new favorite song
Wow! What a beautiful cover of this song. I never thought I’d find one I liked more than Peter Hollens’, but this might be it. Well done.
I love the way you craft your own voice accompaniment... wonderful fully thought out processed an obvious thoughtful and loving manner.... Great job Rachel...
Beautifully. It gives me the shivers.
Not at all what i expected. I've listened to it twice and now i feel like the original does not at all hold up to this. Great Job Rachel!!

There a lot and good singers and then there are gifted singers. You definitely fall under the latter! Such a soothing and relaxing cover! Love multiple harmonies. Adds so much... Keep up the great work!
Love your cover, love the expression in your voice. This version will stay in my head as the version sung by Tauriel, when she thinks on Kili. Thanks once again for a great cover, CHEERS!
I could listen your voice forever. You have the voice of the trees, forest, mountains...
Chills just went down my spine. A true masterpiece Rachel!

You have the voice of an angel. This was a beautiful rendition of Misty Mountains!
These songs... these are the only thing to show for Tolkien's genius. And people are still ready to spread his music. This makes me happy.

I just found your content through this video; not having heard you sooner is now a massive regret. Your elegantly magnificent voice literally gave me chills and brought a tear to my eye. Hearing you sing is an aural euphoria the likes of which most "major" artists can't even approach in their wildest dreams. I truly hope things are going well for you, not only professionally but in the wider aspects of life. Thank you for gifting the world with your amazing singing! :D
