One of the top three albums of the year, so far. Amazing release.

I've been a fan of Laurence's since his Lautrec and Stampede days, I've met him on a number of occasions and he is always affable. I was a Grand Slam fan back in the day, I've lost count how many times I actually saw them live, it seemed to be every week. How Grand slam never got a record deal is something I still can't fathom 40 years on. It was great to finally hear all those songs Laurence wrote with Phil given the production they deserved on the Hit the Ground album. The new album carries on much in the same vein and is superb, there isn't a bad song on it, much like the debut. I'm hoping for some live dates in the not too distant future. Their cover of Whiskey in the Jar came out on 20th August (Phil's Birthday) and they knocked it out of the park, they've done the great man proud. So Laurence, Mike, Benjy and Rocky hope to see you out on the road for some more slammin' evenings !!!

I remember seeing Grand Slam with Philo and Laurence, a night of mixed emotions of seeing Phil on the decline.
I always felt sorry for Laurence as he seemed to get shoved out of the limelight so good that he didn't give up.
    I'll be buying the vinyls.

I absolutely love this album, not a bad song on it, don't know if SOT will review this one, but I'm glad you're talking about it.

Great interview. I still have the Stampede live bootleg max EP on vinyl from 1980something. I think it was their debut. "There's gonna be a stampeeede!"

Great interview and love the new album too. I recall seeing Grand Slam on their 1984 tour and being right up at the front just to one side of Phil. It was a small venue. I remember the floor of the stage was just below my knee and the crush of the crowd made some of the songs more than a bit uncomfortable. Didn't once move from my prime position though!!! 😂
