Pp indeed, my friend
Great build, Sven! Even though the brass didn't turn out like you had envisioned, I think it looks really cool like that! Really nice! 👍🏻
Thanks Denis! I was bummed at first but after taking some pictures it really grew on me.
Agreed it doesn't have to be perfect in that respect. I enjoyed it not being perfect!
It's looks unique in its own way
@@NjordArtisan just a bit more work polishing it and you could have a STUNNING blade. looks great as is though
With your limited timeframe, risks you took, rework involved, and storytelling skills you earned my vote. Nice piece!
Thanks a lot! I really appreciate that!
You have earned my vote. You did a design that is realistic and unique without being over-the-top, and tried some crazy stuff in a limited timeframe. Big respect for this build!
Thanks a lot!
I honestly think your's is in the top 3 for sure. I like the design and proportions. The handle is cool. It looks like it would stab super good and that's what daggers are for.
Thanks Christopher! It does stab really nice and leaves nice diamonds 😄
Thanks for watching!
I really like that you are showing the mistakes as well. I would asume mistakes are a big part of this line of work. Very good job man.
Yess!! Loving it! Hats off to you for pushing things this far considering your time. I can imagine how tough it's been but I'm glad you pushed through! And so nice to see all the brass muffin you used around. Congrats!!
Thanks!! It definitely was a challenging but very fun competition. Can't wait for the next one!
Filing a file with files, as opposed to filing a file without files.
"Everything that fits is the right amount." You get a subscribe for that.
Thanks! 😄 I really appreciate that!
love that philosophy...Everything that fits is the right amount. Nice work by the way.
Thanks! 😄
That is a thing of beauty! I'm impressed, which is saying something as I've seen a lot in my almost six decades on this Earth.
Really cool. this might be the dark horse in the race. i
Id love to see what you can do if your not on a severe time crunch. Good luck
Thanks! Hopefully I can participate in the next challenge as well and then you‘ll see that 👌🏻
Your knifes and daggers are keep getting better and were already pretty insane to begin with. Love your videos :)
Thanks brother ❤️
Loved the brass and steel guard, didn't know you could just forge weld them together like that.
Thanks! It’s basically like brazing, but instead of a welding torch, like I tried the fuller, you can stick it in the forge and melt the brass that way. I think you can do that with every alloy that has a lower melt temp than steel.
I liked the hands-on approach to making the knife. I also enjoyed the filming and story elements you brought into the video. The handle turned out great and the overall design is really nice. Thumbs up!
Thanks a lot! I know many people rather like the „silent movie“ type for knifemaking, so that’s really nice to hear 🙏
@@NjordArtisan I do like the silent videos but often find them boring. Your approach was similar to my own which is more of documentary style.
@@RainyDayForge ah right, I saw your dagger on IG. I‘ll check your vid later when I‘m back from work!
all done by hand.. amazing. you get respect for that!
Thanks a lot! I‘m glad you like it 🙌
The brass loks amazing. That dagger is just awesome
Thank you! The brass turned out better than I expected. Thanks for watching 🙌
Great job getting creating that dagger - nothing like making a knife under time pressure! The handle came out really well - sorry the brass inlay was such a pain... nice looking dagger in the end though!
Thanks! I would’ve loved to do a CuZn-mai for the blade but I also think it ended up quite cool as it is.
New sub, and you'll get my vote. Love the dagger, but the descriptions and walk through of process was refreshing to follow. You've done really well.
Thank you! That’s really nice to hear!
A very adventurous build. We'll done. Subscribed
Thanks! I really appreciate that! If you thought this one was adventurous, just wait for my current build for the fantasy challenge in October 😄
Thanks for your video and share of your dagger build, Sven. You earned a subscriber. Great job on the details of the dagger in the short time (and long distances) you had for the build. You should be proud of this blade. Good luck in the Challenge !
Thanks a lot! It's been really cool to compete besides so many talented people. I hope to be in the next one as well😄
I think the imperfection of the brass in the groove really added to the look of the dagger.
Been watching all of these challenge videos. From the guy who forged his blade by first smelting the metal from powder, then a few videos later, a guy didn't even bother forging the point on his blade, and now this, a guy who just took a file to the grinder.
Well, there’s more than one way to skin a cat.
Thanks for watching.
And here I was bummed out when you started with a file…. How wrong I was!! Great dagger!
I feel you on that 😄 I’m not a huge fan of file knives myself and really wanted to do that brass layered blade as well, but I‘m glad you still liked the result. Thanks for watching!
This is such a cool dagger ! I love it! I know it wasn't the exact look you were shooting for but it came out wonderful!
Thank you Airin! And thanks again for creating such a cool competition with Denis 🙏
Spectacular effort, man!!! With more time and better luck that thing would have been a show stopper!!!👍👍👍 100 thumbs up!!!
😄 Thanks a lot!
G'Day Sven first I had a laugh at how prepared you were for the day all in your work kit lol. Outstanding dagger it is very beautiful so a big Shout out to your skill 😁
Glad you enjoyed it, Rodney!
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful work of art...You are amazing!)))
Thanks a lot, I really appreciate that 🙌
If you liked this challenge, definitely check the one that goes up later today 👍🏻
This is some really great work. Love to see the experimentation, failures and all. Great format for the vid too.
Thanks! Failure is definitely a big part of making. At least when I‘m the one making stuff 😂
Destination was worth the journey! Great job!
Thanks a lot!
Nice work, I’ll remember the tip on coffee etching 😂
Thank you! But put a tray under your jug so you don’t have to clean up as much as I did 😂
What a beautiful piece! The video editing skills are pretty great too haha
10/10 would get stabbed by this dagger
Thanks! I‘m glad you liked the video as well
I am really impressed! Amazing work, especially on such a short timeline!
Thanks a lot!
I love the guard and the brass accents in the fuller look good.
Thanks! Mission failed successfully on that, I guess 😄
Can’t believe you’ve only been doing this since 2020! 👏🏻👏🏻 Great job! Earned my subscription 👌🏻
Thanks a lot! I‘m sure you won’t regret it. I‘ve got a lot planned for the future 👍🏻
Great job, I really liked the overall flow of the blade with the brass/steel transitions!
Thanks, David!
Brass Look of the veins of blade , details also looked good. opinion from a normal guy.Keep up
Thanks a lot!
Flame from tempering is hard on gloves. The mix of steel and brass is unique and looks great. Beautiful job.
Thank you! I definitely have to put some kind of handle on there for quenching 😄
Brother that’s insane you are a mad man! Great work!
Thanks a lot!!!
One.very.nice.dagger.craftmanship
Is.a..10..BRAVO
Thanks a lot! If you liked this build, you‘ll love the one I‘m doing for the current challenge on 14th October
I’m extremely impressed man! Gained a new subscriber here!
Thanks a lot! I‘m almost done with a new video 👍🏻
Watched them all. Voting for you.
Thanks a lot! That really helps my chances to be in the next one! 👍🏻
Awesome work man! I love the hustle. Great looking knife with a lot of creativity!
Thanks James! Can’t wait to watch yours and the other half once I‘m at home!
Nice work. When you try to do things and they don't work out, you are my spirit animal!!
(btw: did you use any kind of flux when you were trying to put the brass/bronze into the fuller?)
Nice to hear I‘m not the only one 😄😄
Yeah both with the pour and brazing I used borax as a flux
Thanks for watching!
That's beautiful! What an elegant design you have!
Thanks!
Mate that's an absolutely gorgeous piece!! Even though the brass didn't turn out as you wanted its still beautiful! For sure an item I'd be very proud to own if it was mine! Well done!
Thanks a lot 🙌
Another Masterpiece
My respect & admiration of your craft an work ethic has gone to an even higher level.
In particular with the amount of travel work/study you do, without a workshop/forge at hand.
Bravo Sir, truly remarkable 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
..
It also answers my question why you don't have a shop page to purchase your amazing creations.
Something I am absolutely convinced will happen in the future, given your talent and craft 👍
Thanks a lot 🙌
I definitely plan to sell the stuff I make in the future, once I am certain that all my heat treatment is up to par.
Hey man awesome build! I was wondering what you used to darken the blade and crevasses and how you applied it?
Thanks for watching! I‘ve used a cold bluing solution. You can find it as either cold bluing or gun bluing. ✌🏻
Great build. I very much appreciate your efforts given your busy life. Oh, I just subscribed!
Thanks a lot and thanks for subscribing!
Right on man!! Great work!👌🏻
Thanks! Can’t wait to watch your wootz dagger build this evening ✌🏻
Beautiful work! one of my favorites so far :)
Thanks a lot!!
Beautiful work! Love the layered guard!
Thanks! I definitely want to do that again with the blade aswell.
Beautiful blade man! I wish you made one with copper Damascus patterns ;-,
Thanks! Definitely on my bucket list for the future 🙌
What a great looking blade. Top 3 for me
Thanks a lot!
Great job. Despite the troubles, you created a masterpiece. Love it and wish you the best of luck with a true dagger. 👍👍👍
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Your channel is amazing! Keep it up and you will definitely grow!
Thanks! I've got a lot planned for the future. Hope you'll like that as well 👌
Great to see the Subs goin' up my man, and awesome job on this bad boy! They can't all come out the way we see it in our heads all of the time, but between school, family stuff, and the commute, I think it all came out really bad ass....... but please invest in some heat-resistant gloves 👍🏽😉
Thanks for always watching, man!
Ironically I bought a pair for this exact problem but I misplaced them 🤣
@@NjordArtisan No worries, of course I gotta support you! You have the knowledge and the tools, you just have to tap into that part of you that brings it all together, and you'll be winning these competitions soon enough!
Great design. One my favorites
Thank you!
Dude amazing blade looks like it should be in a game like elder ring 🔥
Thanks a lot! 😄
That handle is amazing!
Thanks! I really like doing carved handles 👌
This is truly a one-of-a-kind dagger, great build🍻
Thank you! I really liked your build as well!
Nice file work! I really like the guard and handle!
Thanks! I had a lot of fun with that!
Wow, this dagger looks sick! I wish I had the time to learn and the tools to make something like this, absolutely amazing, keep it up!
Thanks! You certainly can! I started off with just a file, workbench and CZcams tutorials 3 years ago and build up my tool list from there
@@NjordArtisan For 3 years of experience your videos feature quite advanced stuff. CZcams tutorials are amazing hahaha, they're like uni but free.
Very cool, one of my favorites for sure.
Thanks, Erick! Right back at you mate!
Really love your handle. That's ace!
Thanks a lot! I really liked carving the handle, definitely will do a lot more of that in the future
Great job looks amazing
Thank you!
Sven, everybody start from the guard, Cmon :P! After I watched your build I think we say in one voice: brass don't like us :P. I love this nordish style! And I agree with Denis- brass drops looks good- like intentional
Thanks Dawid! Yeah brass was definitely the problem child for us 😄
Great job, it looks awesome!
Thanks!
Man you went beyond imagination, impeccable work congratulations
Thanks a lot!!
Absolutely excellent!!
Thank you!
I love your dedication and think the dagger came out awesome.
Thanks, Martin!
Really cool build! Good luck!
Thanks a lot!
I love the carving on the handle!
Thanks! That wood is really hard and worked perfectly for this
Love the handle and guard they are amazing
Thank you!
Sorry that brass didn't work out the way you wanted but that dagger is still awesome!
That’s how it goes sometimes, but it still was a very fun build.
Thanks for watching!
Awesome job, well done
Thank you!
you guys making it really hard, another great built
That was the plan! 😂 But I haven’t decided who to vote for yet as well
Thanks for watching!
file on file violence ...... lol
well proportioned coffee pour
gorgeous looking knife
Thanks! Filing a file is certainly a unique experience 😄
Was für ein schönes Messer! Hat unfassbare freude gemacht, dass Video anzuschauen. Da wird gleich mal abonniert
Vielen Dank! Das freut mich zu hören 🙌
The brass inlay looked like a disappointment but i believe it surprised you in the end with the accidental beauty.
I certainly had worse fails before 😄
Thanks for watching!
Turned out super well! Love the design
Thanks a lot, Drew! I‘ve got the Dagger Playlist loaded up and am excited to see yours ✌🏻
nice, die gleichen schönen Redneck-Messerbautechniken wie sie bei mir in der Werkstatt stattfinden;) Cool dass du hier mitmachen konntest, ich werd deinen Kanal weiter verfolgen;) LG Chris
Vielen Dank! Ich hab mir grad dein Integral Kochmesser angeguckt. Mein Abo hast du auf jeden Fall 😄
If you add brass to a stack for a billet don’t weld it role it up with 3mm stainless steel wire it will handle the forge weld and it won’t turn to scale in the process
But wouldn’t the melted brass just drip out while hammering it?
You are far better than all the CZcamsr blacksmith may be your subscribers are less than them but your skills are of top level
Lots of respect and Love from an Indian Black Smith (but i am not a youtuber😑😑)
Thanks a lot for the compliments but I definitely still have a lot left to learn 😄
@@NjordArtisan no one is perfect in this planet
No matter how much you learn it will be lesser so keep learn and keep improve your skills 👍👍👍
I like the drippy not-perfect look of your brass fuller infill, it gives the blade a more organic feel to offset the hard geometrical angles of the hilt.
I also really like the discoloration effect. Definitely a happy little accident 😄
Man incredible work!
Thank you!
looks well good, love the brass
Thanks Andy! I do love working with brass 👌🏻👌🏻
Fun one. =)
But, The handle is a bit too bulky for the thin dagger blade... If you made the base of the dagger the same width as the handle, then it would look much better.
How ever, i like they way you experimented with the brass. Experiments are fun.
Thanks! I guess that’s up to personal preference, I really like how the handle turned out
Bro made the guard out of Dabrasscus
😂😂😂
I have to write that down 😂
Try under cutting the fuller then hammer the brass in cold like if your where installing gold inlays
Does that work with such a wide fuller? I had a couple of instances where even peening a brass rod made it crack.
Thanks for you suggestions and for watching 👍🏻
Very nice, well done.
Thank you!
You got less views than most and I voted for your dagger, that knife bad a##. subscribed!
I really appreciate that! Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Beautiful!
Thanks!
Its beautiful!!
Thanks a lot!!
Have you considered making Narsil from LOTR, shattering it, as in the film and then reforging it as Anduril? I think the process of making, breaking and then re-making would be interesting to watch.
Das Teil seht echt super aus werde für deinen Dagger stimmen
Vielen Dank, Michael!
I don’t do any smithing but maybe for melting the brass you can just lay a brass rod or something to that degree in the divot and heat it up while it’s in there instead of dripping it in
This looks much better than what I think my 300 Spartans inspired kopis sword that I'm making at school will look. Very beautiful piece!
Thanks a lot! That sound really cool! I wish I had courses where I could make a sword in my school 😄😱
@@NjordArtisanYeah I had to get special permission from my Design and Productions teacher, the blade and tang section will be made out of mild steel because its cheap and I want it to be more of a decorative piece.
@@3dwrecker_4660 Very nice!! That's just a challenging as high carbon steel and many things I made just ended up on the wall without getting used aswell, mild steel would have sufficed there too 😄
@@NjordArtisan If I remember to get some footage, I'll put it on my channel some time between now and the end of the year :)
@@3dwrecker_4660 I'll check it out 👌
Vielen Dank!
Spectacular!
Thank you!
