Some big omissions Bro! Drum and Bass, UK Garage, Goa Trance and Psytrance! The last two are very different from Trance but not THAT different whilst I am shocked you haven't included Garage (also known as Two-Step) and Drum and Bass which is the world's fastest growing genre, especially in Liquid form. I hope you do a part 2 to address the omissions I have mentioned!

Sounds a lot like TNT, especially similar sounds in Darren Styles & TNT - DLMD. I'm not sure which track is used in this video though, or that it even is TNT. If you really want to find it it's a place to start.

I am looking to open a discotheque in about a year. It will be a non-alcoholic and am thus expecting three waves of patrons: teenagers, college students, and adults. Teenagers when it open until midnight (local curfew law) then under-21 college students from midnight to 3 am and then over-21 when the bars close at 3am. The club closing at sunrise. For such a club, what about "vocal-driven" (Top 40 stuff) until midnight then "tech house" until 3 am then then "techno" until sunrise?

I’m going to be harsh with my criticism, but I’m not trying to be mean because ... maybe you will succeed and prove me wrong. But i’m going to tell you what most people will, because it’s worth considering:
That will never work (without some adjustments), and here is why:
      1) The primary reason most people go to clubs is for the alcohol and social gathering first, and the music is secondary.
      2) How will you be able to control who goes in and out at what times ? Kicking people out at a certain time and having to ID all the next guests will cause some mix-ups, confusion, and is pointless if there’s no alcohol to begin with.
      3) Music shouldn’t be separated between age-ranges. Every age should be able to enjoy and experience a wide variety variety of different music. Also, it could be nice to have different genres depending on certain events. Maybe Wednesdays are hip-hop / trap music, Friday is a mix of everything and maybe Saturday, late night is Techno ? Or switch it up depending on who the DJ’s are.

@@JonZarlengz First, I assume you meant to say "what most people won't".
Second, thanks for the reply. Don't consider the following as a counter-attack or me getting defensive but merely an explanation of why I'm doing what I'm doing.
      Having said the above....
      In reply to:
      1) Possibly, but not for those under the age of 21 here in the USA. They cannot enter such clubs. They are my focus market. Yes, many do get fake IDs to enter such booze establishments but not all. And the younger they are, the less they'll even try to pass themselves off as old enough to enter.
Also, I am glad you said "most people" as I don't think it is everyone. There are a lot of people over the age of 21 who don't like alcohol and especially don't like drunks but do like to dance. I believe a lot of them also would prefer to just dance minus gawkers. As the Men Without Hats song says, "Ah we can dance if we want to, we can leave your friends behind, Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance, Well they're are no friends of mine."
Additionally, a lot of women like to dress up and go out dancing. It is so common it is basically a natural law. Girlfriends begging their boyfriends to dress up and go out dancing with them. Not boozing. Dancing. In fact, many women HATE it when their boyfriends start drinking and get drunk. Thus it is my position that if I can attract the women, the men will follow. Do guys just like going out and getting drunk? Some do and they can go to places that sell booze. But some guys are more interested in women than booze and will want to go where the women are dancing their asses off. Booze or chicks? I know which one I'd pick.
Oh, and as for socializing, behind the discotheque will be an outdoor food truck foodcourt where you can do just that. ;-) Six food trucks with each specializing in a different cuisine.
      2) I am not going to kick anyone out who is already in the club nor mark them in some way to later kick them out when a certain hour hits. Not at all. But legally I cannot let them in if they are under 18 and past curfew (that being midnight here). If they're already in, they can stay in. That's fine. I won't be fined for not bouncing them out. BUT if they leave and try to re-enter, I cannot let them back in due to curfew law.
      3) The club will only be open on Friday and Saturday nights. It will be a massive club and for it to feel like it is hopping, it needs maximum attendance and thus will only be open on the two most popular party nights.
And do understand that until you are old enough to go to clubs, you really never hear any EDM. That's just a club thing. Music created in the moment by live DJs. In fact, I've never heard of a single radio station specializing in just EDM. Again, it is a club thing. Given this, I won't want young people to be totally shocked by this typical club thing so I plan to have the first three hours be heavily influence by vocal-driven music. Top 100 Upbeat. Not playing songs end to end but a good deal of healthy sampling, re-mixing, and such. As the night progress, it will become more and more EDM. When it hits midnight, those under 18 will phase themselves out (due to curfew law) and the college crowd will take over. That's when house techno will be played. That will go on for three hours. At 3 am is when the bar crowd will arrive (bars closing then) and I think a shift to techno would be good at that point in the night.
As for hip-hop, trap, country, and other genres, I just don't feel those would be right for this club and who I am trying to attract.
As for variations due to different DJs, that is what I am planning to do. This club is meant to be the first of a chain and with the second club, I plan to rotate DJs duos every weekend. The DJs being salaried and flown around to inject variety into the clubs.
Again, thanks for replying and giving me your input. It was truly appreciated and I thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me.

Jack Decker Now that I hear your points ... okay, you’ve thought it out much better than I assumed ! Alright. Fair points. Solid enough plan. 😎
I wish you the best of luck, and I actually do hope that a place like that works really well.

@@JonZarlengz Thank you for saying that. I have been working on this idea off and on for the last thirty years. I've scouted numerous locations over those years for the first club location and I've written so many business plans for it that I cannot honestly recall how many I've written. I haven't pulled the trigger in the past because the business models that I came up with just didn't seem right to me. Then a year ago, I think I finally cracked that nut and have been able to assemble some angel investors who agree with my plan. I am right now waiting on an accounting firm to crunch the numbers. If they come back and say it will be wildly profitable (which is what I believe it will be and I will only do it if it is), I will start talking to local economic development corporations and banks. Saying things move at a good clip, you might see the first club in a year and a half from now.
