Lara is no Mariah in terms of agility, but considering her great technique and fluidity/ seamless transitions and all she can easily do agile runs and melismas, but she would of course need to practice first, her runs get sloppy because she rarely does them in her songs, she's more of a classical ballad singer, like Barbra , she likes holding notes and all rather than running around, but her agility is not as bad as it seems.

Lara has no trouble with having very talented backvocals singers... what this one did here was nothing like disrespectful! Lara always give them "their" moment in concert... and Celine does the same with hers. They have fun together, they do the show together. Lara and Celine know that they need backvocals to do the show... so they treat them well; no competition or disrespect.
This was just a song in the middle of the concert. Not an appearence in a tv show where she could sing 5 minutes and then rest her voice. She keps her register for an entire hour.

I believe she is a mezzo thus the heavier sounding, especially in the early fifth octave. Céline is a full lyric soprano if I'm correct. Mariah Carey seldom belts up to a quality G5 live (except the Daydream Tour), although I remember a best live vocal video (that you actually reacted to) does show her singing that G5 after a powerful whistle note. That's a show in early 90s. It seems like she's more confident up to F#5. People say her vocal nodules hinder her support mostly (plus partly her techniques) while giving her easy access to the whistle register. It's a double-edged sword.

I'm a huge fan of Lara since the 90's, I have all of her albums in all the languages on my phone, but I completely disagree with you, this song is one of her worst performances, she was just tastelessly loud, she can't really compete with 90's Mariah at all to be perfectly honest here.
i've seen her almost a dozen times live in concert and i adore her, but she should stay away from r&B or at least those Mariah songs... she's way better off with those italian ballads and french songs.Of course she can technically compete with Mariah, she might be even superior technically and yet there is something missing on those songs that Mariah can deliver. But in reverse i can not see Mariah singing Je suis malade or Perdere l'amore at all.
Lara is a great Singer but she's nowhere near close to a Mariah Carey Level at her best. This is Flat at some parts, that run at end was messy etc. Mariah's Vision of Love performances at her best were VOCAL OLYMPUS, VOCAL WONDER no one could touch. And for the recording Mariah is doing amazing (mid range belting) in 2018 while Lara sounded tired specially her belts. Still knows how to execute them tho, because she has the technique to it. Her only problem is the use of vowels

I'm a huge fan of Lara since the 90's, I have all of her albums in all the languages on my phone, but I completely disagree with you, this song is one of her worst performances, she was just tastelessly loud, she can't really compete with 90's Mariah at all to be perfectly honest here.

i've seen her almost a dozen times live in concert and i adore her, but she should stay away from r&B or at least those Mariah songs... she's way better off with those italian ballads and french songs.Of course she can technically compete with Mariah, she might be even superior technically and yet there is something missing on those songs that Mariah can deliver. But in reverse i can not see Mariah singing Je suis malade or Perdere l'amore at all.
Lara is a great Singer but she's nowhere near close to a Mariah Carey Level at her best. This is Flat at some parts, that run at end was messy etc. Mariah's Vision of Love performances at her best were VOCAL OLYMPUS, VOCAL WONDER no one could touch. Her Cover of I Will Always Love you was more than amazing though.
@@ethana2582 no, it doesnt explained nothing. Mariah had nodules therefore her voice was always changing. Her technique was perfect tho and thats why she kept on performing. And for the recording Mariah is doing amazing (mid range belting) in 2018 while Lara sounded tired specially her belts. Still knows how to execute them tho, because she has the technique to it. Her only problem is the use of vowels

I actually like her tone more then Mariah's. But that's just a matter of prefference. I like a tone that is a little heavier. However, for Mariah's songs you need Mariah's tone. Light and soft like a breeze. Otherwise, no matter how perfectly you hit the notes or execute those runs and transitions, it just doesn't sound that free and perfect

Dude totally disagree with you. Are you just being nice to please your viewers? this is a horrible rendition of this song and you know it!!!. She has no power on the lower register, she does not have the smokiness of Mariah's voice, her agility is basically below average, and her runs are disconnected, etc. Either clean your ears or just be honest, ok. There are much better covers by amatuers than this. Lara can't touch any of Mariahs song, period, but then again, no one can. Mariah is the greatest vocalist that has ever walked this earth. Everyone will just fail in comparison!

I actually can't stand Mariah Carey because she has become a horrible person and unfortunately her tone has changed so much and has surprisingly become irritating, she sounds like a drunk woman every time she opens her mouth. That being said, during her prime, no one can touch her. She was hands down the greatest vocalist (male or female) that has ever walked this earth, there's no question about that. Her vocal abilities is second to none. She can take any of lara's song and make it her own and take it to a whole new level. No one can own Mariah but Mariah can own anyone during her prime. I stopped listening to Mariah since after Charmbracelet after she became all about her stupid boobs, I find her really disgusting but I give credit where credit is due - she was, is, and always will be the Greatest Vocalist in the world!!!
