"Will Power" Goro Akechi ~ Persona 5 Dancing [Cosplay Dance In Public]

- This dance was particularly really hard to learn and perform because it's not about the steps but the fact that Akechi tells you his whole life story with facial expressions throughout the routine. It's a lot more on the acting side than the dancing side so I hope that came across in my performance!

It's genuinely intriguing how much this dance represents Akechi's character arc
I agree. And his solo fever part hurts just seeing him trample around like crazy, reaching out for help but cutting himself off. This dance interpreted his character so well.
YESS, he starts with joyful moves smiles and winks, to show the image he builds for himself, but always showing a little bit of his inner rage behind his hands. Then the rage builds up and he goes rampage, agressive moves, crazy faces, and even painful reactions. After that he is trying to reach for help as you said, and the last, his moves are stuck, like a puppet, when he realizes he's been a tool for Shido all along, moving as he has strings attached to him. That's beautiful

Even if he only has like one dance in the game, I'm glad they made it so incredibly expressive. It's probably one of my favourite P5 dances because of how well it's choreographed. It's also REALLY fucking sad. He goes from being so smooth and graceful to these jerky, spasmodic movements and it says so much about what he's been through.
i find it ridiculously funny that i sat here thinking “man, how does she remember all of this? the facial expressions, the hand movements...” when i’m literally a dancer & musical theatre actor. i do this for a living

This is absolutely incredible CrystAAHHL. Not only did you perfectly match Akechi movements but also his energy and expressions at the exact same time.
I would absolutely reward you with Pancakes if I could for pulling this off.
I remember when P5D was first shown, and there were some people who complained that the dancers didn't look as neat or professional as the P4 gang's, but what they seemed to miss was the interpretive-ness of it and its reflection on the characters. This reminded me of that.
I like how how Aketchi in this song subtly goes between well put together and coordinated to seemingly like he’s on the verge to losing composure when dancing. Well suited for his character.
The way she smiles all the time while imitating her husbando is-

Crystal: genuine smile that has me feeling so giddy for no apparent reason.
At 0:33 I still can’t believe how well she nailed that kick.
Also fun fact! Akechi’s mocap dancer for this song is a woman! I believe she also did the mocapping for Naoto and Mitsuru as well.

I'm a dancer myself, but I haven't practiced in quite a while for multiple reasons. One of them being that I usually learn choreos I find online which I like (if I upload them as a dance cover is a different story), and lately I just ran out of stuff that I was motivated enough to learn while at the same time wouldn't take me 3 months to complete because I'd have to adapt to a whole new genre. And I think I'm gonna learn the Persona dances now. Right after my race this weekend but then I'll continue dance practice. Thanks for bringing my motivation back! 😄

1:07 I just realized how great this move is. This is the pose Akechi makes when summoning Robin Hood. In this dance he switches faces from his "Detective Prince" persona to his "Black Mask" persona. So that pose, in battle, was him essentially "putting on the mask" rather than everyone else ripping it off. In this dance, however, it can be seen as him "taking off the mask", as the "Black Mask" persona is closer to his true feelings.
