My biggest complain about the game is the summons being simulation like you make all these beautiful world and you could make something so cool with the summon being in them but instead they are just in a simulation

Another person I'm currently watching play the game was also incredibly taken aback with his more chill demeanor even openly saying "DID CID GO TO REHAB?!" But one of his viewers pointed out the fact that essentially in the og game the party arrives at a moment that is quite stressful for Cid, he's trying to once again get space exploration approved from Shinra which it's not an easy task due to the current president's complete disinterest in the program and the one appointed to oversee the program is the ever so useless Palmer, it's his chance to get back into accomplishing his dream of seeing the stars and it's not a good day so of course he's gonna be a lot more easily angered, while in the remake he's running a business as a pilot so he is not going to show his worst traits to his customers and will be in his best behavior nor do the party meet him in Rocket Town. Aside from that we do get to see a lot of what made late game Cid from the of game so great, which reminds me of how ride or die the airship crew was for him and were even happy to work for him as a captain, he's still a bit of a jerk considering he will openly mock and laugh at the party though. We just need to wait for next game and finally get to Rocket Town and more of the late game stuff, which honestly has a lot more of him than the middle of the game.

If Cloud is in denial that Aerith in this reality did die, he didn't save her and is being messed with, as long as we get more in the lifestream scene, where he has to accept what happened and not repress what happened like Zack by showing Cloud send Aerith off, then I'll be pretty happy with that. The fact they cut that entire part out where Cloud carries Aerith into the pool, they have to revisit that. The fact everyone is so heartbroken but Cloud isn't even quiet and keeping things bottled up but is actually happy, with Aerith encouraging him to go fight Sephiroth, they can't possibly just be saying Aerith is alive for Cloud but no one else because every character has had to deal with loss and moving on from this, but Cloud hasn't yet accepted it yet so surely they are going to revisit this scene. Everyone else at the Temple had to confront this, except for Cloud. Surely this will all come together for Cloud in the next game as the protag, to truly confront his trauma and come out the other end stronger. Doesn't change the fact that ending the game in this way to keep people guessing rather than honouring the gravity of the emotional end to such an iconic character can't be changed, but if the next game was already here and they revisit this scene and not just explain but have a big pay off for what they are setting up, then this could be amazing mostly for how Cloud has been developed. We will have to see but considering most of this game really fleshed out the characters well and gave Aerith so many moments of acceptance, they have grander plans for sure and won't leave this ambiguous. I hope the party doesn't move on from this and talk about what they are feeling about Aerith, even if Cloud distances himself from everyone until his moment.

This was an amazing video! I totally agree that they delivered on all of my memories of the original experience! Also the characters are top tier in thus game. It's truly unbelievable that they did these characters better than the OG! Cait Sith is so amazing. We live in the best timeline.

It is funny when people get so touchy about the minigames. There were a few that were unforgiving or not too fun, but the vast majority just aligned with the original game to add nice variety to intreacting with the world in fun and goofy ways. They definitely didn't want this grand world adventure to boil down to fight, town, dungeon. If I would have cut anything, it would have been some of the VR fights or open world points of interest. In terms of completion, the difficult or frustrating parts were mostly down to the combat trials. I never got stuck on the minigames and they even added a difficulty option for Hard mode versions of some if some of them didn't feel lenient enough. FF7 wouldn't be the same without minigames. If they were RNG hell I could understand but considering the variety, I think they nailed most of them.

I really like FF7 Rebirth but story wise i still like the org FF7 better. Cause it was darker and gloomier which made the story feels more interested. I dont mind changes but its should be equal good or better but in this game, those changes important moment vs org moment is weak (too friendly feeling i guess, cant put the right word for it).. But in overall, great game for me xD The minor complains is almost the same as Remake. They said that they made Remake big but no they just dragging it. Rebirth is what you call BIG :P i think Remake was 9.5/10 but giving same score to Rebirth kinda feels like an insult to the game itself cause its way better game xD

I couldnt even finish the game, i got burnt out with all the open world nonsense, I preferred remake with it just having chapters and fleshed out areas in each chapter instead of a whole world, my opinion, open world games are just not fun in 2024

Agreed across the board. I know not everyone is in love with lifestream ghosts and alternate realities and stuff, but as a fellow FF7 OG, idk how anyone is not loving the expanded characterization, relationships, voice acting, humor etc etc. I think it’s all pitch perfect. Game was a blast to play too!

They got the ending wrong, sorry. They could’ve at least handled it the way they ended the Yuffie DLC. That to me was the most emotional thing about the FF7 remake project so far.

I lost interest in Rebirth after seeing that it was a "Ubisoft" style open world game where you have to go around climbing and collecting stuff at hundreds of "points of interest" (that are actually not very interesting). This style of game is ridiculously tedious & repetitive. It just feels like lazy game development, where the playtime of the game is artificially extended by putting in tedious exploration & repetitive chores. I greatly prefer more linear games that keep your interest the whole time, instead of there being hours of just walking around and doing menial tasks. I love Yakuza side quests, because they're usually fun & interesting, whereas most games have you doing a boring fetch or kill quest for a forgettable NPC. The original FF7 was perfectly paced where it kept you focused on the characters and story without a lot of unrelated distractions. And it feels like with the remakes they have crammed in too much "fluff" or "filler", which lessens the experience. Sometimes less is more. Also, it really freaking sucks that we can't play as Cid or Vincent, even though we reach points in the story where they were playable in the original. So lame!

Rebirth would've been perfect if they hadn't added all the whispers, multiple timeline and especially what they did with Aerith's death scene at the end of Rebirth, i don't like how they treat my favorite character (Sephiroth) on these games, it's not bad but there is way too much Sephiroth to the point where he barely feels like that much of a threat and more of an annoyance, him being fought in the second part again was completely unecessary and unlike Remake, Sephiroth was clearly not holding back this time so it really makes him feel weaker, and ever since Remake they really botched the way he was originally introduced to the player. Another thing that a lot of people didn't mentioned is how they keep reducing the weight of more emotional scenes, you see this on Remake where they reduce the guilt of AVALANCHE for the destruction of Midgar(and they even show Cait Sith on the middle of the cutscene for no reason), they completely botched the Dyne part of Rebirth for the sake of action, Aerith's death became a Marvel movie action sequence and there goes.

You know, I didn't really think about that with Cid, but now that you mention it, I agree completely! The clearest thing about the timelines is Stamp being a different breed of dog in each, which I thought was a nice subtle touch. Any chance we can get an edited down play through?

Rebirth is probably the best remake I've ever played to be honest, it's everything I wanted and more, characters, gameplay, soundtrack, open world acitivites... everything works so well, they nailed it. My only issue with the game is the ending, I didn't like how Aerith's fate was handled, but it didn't made me hate the game or anything.

The part that gave me chills was in Zacks section, Marlene warns him about the fact that if aerith wakes up, a scary man will kill her.....that caught me so off guard lmao

I’m kinda 50/50 on the ending. I liked the ending of Remake in it being about changing destiny. I’m not sure how the different worlds or timelines will play into the changes in destiny going forward will be interesting. There are so many different narrative choices with how to proceed going forward. I’m looking forward to seeing how severed the group’s relationship with Cloud is, particularly Tifa. But I struggle with Aerith’s fate being ambiguous. Did she die, live, is she a part of the life stream, is it Jenova messing with Cloud. It’s very “Who did Negan kill…find out when we return”. For such a beloved and vital character, it’s disappointing if they just go “lol she dead duh” after 3/4 years of waiting. Personally I’m of the group of the Aerith we see at the end is part of the new world Cloud created when he deflected Sephiroth. I don’t really know how it works with the group living in the og timeline and Cloud linked between the 2 timelines at the same time . but I’m not sure how Zack is alive in 4 different timelines based on Stamp. Or how Biggs knows the Cloud of the remake time when Zack(in his timeline) was brining him to Midgard after the events of Remake. Yea, I’m just going to stop thinking about it till part 3.

Personally, I think it's too early to judge Rebirth's ending. There are too many questions left unresolved that won't get answered until the next game comes out. I'm sure people are disappointed because it's a downer, or they were hoping for a certain outcome, but by the end of the third game, we may get some added context that makes the finale of the second game less bleak in retrospect. Even if that doesn't happen though? I think we all knew that this was going to be the the "Empire Strikes Back" of the FF7 Remake Trilogy. We're at the point of the classic story arc where the heroes are at their lowest point. Cloud lost his hand, he found out Sephiroth is his father, and Barrett is frozen in carbonite-- no, wait. I got them mixed up. Never mind.

I'm surprised you never mentioned that "overabundance" of Sephiroth in this game and in Remake. Many people complain that Sephiroth appears too much and looses the presence that he had in the OG.

I'm undecided on whether or not Aerith is actually dead...well...one of the Aeriths I should say. You see that same rainbow color each time Zack created another world with his decisions when Cloud manages to successfully deflect the masamune, then Sephiroth does something and the masamune's position changes and all of a sudden there's blood. I think Sephiroth moved Cloud to a world where he failed to save Aerith to further exacerbate Cloud's mental degradation. Then Aerith throws him in for a loop when she reappears, thanks Cloud "for earlier" and shocks Sephiroth enough to get him to admit that he underestimated her. One thing I don't really see people talking alot about though is the Holy Materia. In the original when Aerith dies and it falls from her ribbon, it is green, which we learn later means that it was successfully activated. Yet, when it fell this time, it was white, not green, meaning it hasn't been activated yet. This is why I think the Aerith Cloud sees is a real Aerith in another world someone partially transposed onto the one he's in because she specifically states she has to continue praying. The only reason she would need to do that is if Holy didn't activate which we can see it hadn't yet. Of course they could have changed the tidbit about Holy turning green when it is activated but who knows at this point.

The only thing that Rebirth did wrong was that they didn’t give us enough time with Vincent.

I do believe schools have become a part of its identity, and I honeslty believe I have grown out of the setting a bit to be honest, doesn't mean I won't enjoy another one, but I really would like a uni setting, not sure on adult but wouldn't be opposed to it. I liked FES format as although highschool the form life idea and talking to the characters each day to me felt really good and let you learn a lot more about them. University could let them deal with different themese, so could adult life, but really its not like they can't do an highschool persona and make it good, I'm just scared that they might fall on the same tropes again. I think persona needs a bit of a shakeup as whilst I love it I want them to reinvent the aspects which have been present since 3. Persona 2 has a really good story and totally works, though I do feel that it feels kind of like a hybrid between what persona is now and what SMT is, it did used to be SMT persona. Anyway I dont have too many thought, I would love to see persona in different settings as I hope it refresh it but more importantly its the the writing and characters which are independent that matter more.

(Big spoilers ahead) The ending of the game is left ambiguous on purpose, so I'm not gonna speak on the timeline/Zack things that are still up in the air. But the thing I love most about the ending is what it does with Clouds character. Cloud having Aerith die in his arms and his messed up brain deciding to actively not engage with reality and belive shes still alive is absolutely incredible character work, its exactly what this version of Cloud would do (and has done in the past) and is a change that gives me so much excitement for where they'll take in in Part 3. I feel like in the OG Aeriths death was mostly impactful to us the player rather than the party, since technical limitation made it hard to truly get into their responses in dealing with it. Whereas with the Remake trilogy its the other way around now, we knew she was going to die so its not as big of a a shock to us. But now we get to see the party's reactions to it in much greater detail. And the party dynamics we're going to see with the whole party grief-stricken and dealing with it except Cloud is gonna be incredible

Rebirth expands on so much. I'm glad it found a way to tastefully add compilation elements too. Edit: Also, I don't think the "worlds" are literal. I think they're just manifestations of consciousness, hopes and dreams within the lifestream. Which would make it an expansion of what was already in the original.

So Ichiban didn't directly say that he loved her but that he liked her suki desu can be translated to like or love depending on the translator but It isn't as strong as Aishteru which is literally to love someone. Suki desu can just be used to say your attracted to them.
