  • On July 7, 1963 the Rolling Stones travelled to Alpha Television Studios in Aston, Birmingham in order to record their first ever TV performance for ABC TV's "Lucky Stars Summer Spin" to be broadcast on Saturday, July 13.
They mimed to their first single "Come On" all decked out in their brand new Houndstooth Check suits that manager Andrew Loog Oldham had kitted them out in.
Sadly, footage no longer exists of this performance but fortunately, photographer Philip Townsend was on hand to document this historic day in Stones history.

I'd love to hear more about this, would you mind sharing your story of that day? How did you manage to get yourself a ticket, what was the atmosphere like in the studio?
