It was really cool back in the day when football wasn't so globalized, and teams could bring out unseen tactics to World Cup. Wasn't Netherlands team basically Ajax? So people outside Netherlands hadn't seen their tactics much.
@@axeljager9399 True, won the European Cup thrice. But I would imagine more people watched World Cups Vs European Cups for example, so it still probably would've been unseen tactics for many people.
Yes. It was Ajax, the Ajax system, the Ajax philosophy that even now is the basis of the game. World famous coaches are even 50 years later using the Ajax system and basis for modern football.
Even Cruijff, Bergkamp, van Basten, and the van Persie generations are the disciples of a system that changed the philosophy of football. The biggest attacking talents are supposed to relieve the defending ones and work really hard on every single position. There is no room for egotistical players only playing for their own wellbeing and fame, it is the collective, being a comrade, understanding the game and relying on the manager. In other words, being the best with the team.
it's so wild to see how they just, formed flying Vs and rushed a bloke the moment he mis-controlled the ball... but 'total football' included players being able to fill any role on the pitch, i'd have liked some more of these cuts to show, say, defenders turning into strikers and vice versa, etc.
@@akwilson1676 Why do people keep using the offside rule as an excuse?? the only reason it's not used is that teams' defense know how to control the ball better and this would be easily counter-attacked. This strategy was only good because back then football wasn't nearly as strategical as of now and opponents didn't expect that kind of play
@@akwilson1676you would lose 10 -0 on the fist half alone. imagine running after the ball the whole 90 min. Against a team that moves the ball and plays smart.

People had seen Ajax back in those days though. Best team in the world back then

Fantastic strategy
how the style of playing football has changed

It's offside if u are running early from the center circle....niwadays its not offside
I feel tiki taka was kind of modern version of total football
Thanks to one man. Johan Cruyff
@@mmartijn78 Tiki -taka is evolution of total football in modern
There’s different kind of tiki taka, I think the closest should be prime Barca with Guardiola coaching
Why this tactics not use in modern football today😔😔😔
Offside rules have changed significantly. Try this tactic now and you will lose 10 0.
1 good air ball and the defence is down
