    Sooner or later there will be a United Ireland. There is no doubt. It may as well be now. If it did happen now it would solve the whole Brexit problem by the end of the week. The problem is there is still so much fear mongering in the protestant community. This fear is all being passed down to the young by the old. There are 20 year olds in northern Ireland who have never really seen the troubles but they behave like they are ready for them. This fear in the unionist community is totally unnecessary. They must see there is nothing to fear from a United Ireland . Any smart unionist will know they can still practice their traditions. Marches parades what ever in the reunification of our country.

    Why is mass immigration so important to the EU they are literally willing to alienate one of it's key member to point of jeopardising peace in it's member states?
    Also there's being three big changes in Ireland, and we were only asked about two of them, gay marriage and abortion. The Irish people were never asked about mass immigration and multiculturalism, they were never asked did they want to make Ireland less Irish? Bonny, the NEO CON in the woodpile. Most of the Irish fled to America from the south due to harsh realities. A lack of industry able to support over population and high birth rates, overcrowded agricultural small holdings and brutal landlords in the south who would evict them, even hard working tenants cast out once their industry could attract a higher premium. Since before the times of O’Connell and his powerful 1840’s campaign to repeal the 1801 act of union in favour of home rule, the disparities between north and south have been ever present. For example in the north, common law of tenant-right provided those in Ulster with protection from such brutal exploitation from landowners. For Bonny to say Brexit has become a cause for Union is simply blowing smoke across the history of all. The pocket book of harsh southern landowners lays open to this day and the EU take full advantage! She would see the entirety of Ireland enslaved to corruptions! How dare she!

    • @taintabird23
      @taintabird23 Před 4 lety +5

      Actually, most Irish went to the United States because after the Act of Union, UK policies destroyed Irish industry.
      Ireland had a potato famine in the 1840s and the UK withdrew government aid in 1847 as it interfered with their Laissez Faire economic policy. Food was exported out of Ireland while a million died and a million emigrated. London put the starvation down to Providence.
      Because of the famine, Ireland tried to get Home Rule, but this was shafted in the 19th century because a handful of big absentee landlords with estates in Ireland blocked it in the unelected House of Lords.
      Ireland was partitioned in a deal between London and Ulster Unionists - nationalist Ireland was not consulted. This is why there is a border problem for the UK today.
      The disparity between north and south in the past is reversed: Dublin, not Belfast, is the economic powerhouse on the island of Ireland and the Irish economy is stronger and more dynamic than its northern counter part.
      Remember, the Irish-Americans voting on your trade deal with the US know that they are American because Britain shafted their ancestors. It is visceral and emotional for them, and it crosses partisan lines.
      Irish-America will not facilitate the UK shafting Ireland again, of that you can be sure. It would be like spitting on their heritage.
      Ireland is a free, independent and sovereign country that voted for membership of the EEC by referendum in 1972 and on every single treaty change since. We Irish 'own' our membership of the EU.
