But now the question is; Why has to EU willing to risk peace in Northern Ireland by alienating britain over mass immigration? Why is mass immigration so important to the EU they are literally willing to alienate one of it's key member to point of jeopardising peace in it's member states? Also there's being three big changes in Ireland, and we were only asked about two of them, gay marriage and abortion. Irish Americans put Trump in the White House. His advisers and Vice President are Irish Americans. Bonnie some might say is reminding the ancestral Turk in number 10, and the Franco-German Farage about the realities of a No-Deal Brexit. However, Brexit should-must happen.
There have always been embarrassing lace-curtain Irish like Bannon and Bill O'Reilly. Thankfully from John Devoy (1848-1928) to George Harrison (1915-2004) Ireland has been able to depend on Irish Americans for support.
@CankerousBooch Arís Irish nationalists have always been left wing. From its beginning. Wolfe Tone was a military officer with the Jacobins in France (literally the first left wingers). Right nationalists in Ireland have always been west-Brits and sell outs. Still are.
@CankerousBooch Arís I'm afraid none of your psycho right wing talking points appear in the Proclamation. The republican movement is rooted in enlightenment values. The Proclamation explicitly references the Citizens' Army and protecting minorities. It does not refer to religion or race. They intentionally set up a secular republic. "The Republic guarantees RELIGIOUS AND CIVIL LIBERTY, EQUAL RIGHTS and equal opportunities to ALL its citizens, and declares its resolve to pursue the happiness and prosperity of the whole nation and of all its parts, cherishing all the children of the nation EQUALLY, and OBLIVIOUS OF THE DIFFERENCES carefully fostered by an alien Government, which have divided a MINORITY from the majority in the past. She has lived in Britain for the last 30 years now and she has duel British/American citizenship. If she genuinely feels her connection to Ireland is as strong as she is displaying here, she might want to consider moving to Ireland, or back to her beloved Chicago. After all, she still talks about Chicagoans with the ‘we’ pronoun.
@@TonyMaronie Her comments were directed towards the Tory right wing pro Brexit element in Britain not at the British per se . And shes right ,they and Trump assumed they could have an agreement with the US after Brexit ,all she was doing was pointing out that it's wrong to assume such ,and not to mess or look down on Ireland ,this is the attitude the Tory party has had prior to and since the foundation of the Irish Free State and Republic .
Bonny, the NEO CON in the woodpile. Most of the Irish fled to America from the south due to harsh realities. A lack of industry able to support over population and high birth rates, overcrowded agricultural small holdings and brutal landlords in the south who would evict them, even hard working tenants cast out once their industry could attract a higher premium. Since before the times of O’Connell and his powerful 1840’s campaign to repeal the 1801 act of union in favour of home rule, the disparities between north and south have been ever present. For example in the north, common law of tenant-right provided those in Ulster with protection from such brutal exploitation from landowners. For Bonny to say Brexit has become a cause for Union is simply blowing smoke across the history of all. The pocket book of harsh southern landowners lays open to this day and the EU take full advantage! She would see the entirety of Ireland enslaved to corruptions! How dare she!
Actually, most Irish went to the United States because after the Act of Union, UK policies destroyed Irish industry. Ireland had a potato famine in the 1840s and the UK withdrew government aid in 1847 as it interfered with their Laissez Faire economic policy. Food was exported out of Ireland while a million died and a million emigrated. London put the starvation down to Providence. Because of the famine, Ireland tried to get Home Rule, but this was shafted in the 19th century because a handful of big absentee landlords with estates in Ireland blocked it in the unelected House of Lords. Ireland was partitioned in a deal between London and Ulster Unionists - nationalist Ireland was not consulted. This is why there is a border problem for the UK today. The disparity between north and south in the past is reversed: Dublin, not Belfast, is the economic powerhouse on the island of Ireland and the Irish economy is stronger and more dynamic than its northern counter part. Remember, the Irish-Americans voting on your trade deal with the US know that they are American because Britain shafted their ancestors. It is visceral and emotional for them, and it crosses partisan lines. Irish-America will not facilitate the UK shafting Ireland again, of that you can be sure. It would be like spitting on their heritage. Ireland is a free, independent and sovereign country that voted for membership of the EEC by referendum in 1972 and on every single treaty change since. We Irish 'own' our membership of the EU. The Irish are the slaves of nobody.

Sooner or later there will be a United Ireland. There is no doubt. It may as well be now. If it did happen now it would solve the whole Brexit problem by the end of the week. The problem is there is still so much fear mongering in the protestant community. This fear is all being passed down to the young by the old. There are 20 year olds in northern Ireland who have never really seen the troubles but they behave like they are ready for them. This fear in the unionist community is totally unnecessary. They must see there is nothing to fear from a United Ireland . Any smart unionist will know they can still practice their traditions. Marches parades what ever in the reunification of our country.
@CankerousBooch Arís what do you mean
dosn`t need to be actually if the paranoid DUP would just agree to a customs union and single market down the irish sea im sure it could be done fast enough over time nobody would notice ..
but pride will not let them do it the southern irish have no interest in a united ireland via brexit which is why many unionists dont have an issue with the backstop

@CankerousBooch Arís and brexit is going to change that for the uk i suppose
@CankerousBooch Arís i agree it does not make them racist and i will bet there are many irish who feel the same way...
however i dont believe brexit or leaving the eu will change anything as i have never bought into this rubbish about the eu being the reason for migrants..

the eu for example is not responsible for whats happening on the mexico/usa border so alot of people are in for a big let down

My great uncle used to launder money to the IRA.
Wow 🇮🇪
Wow weeeee
But now the question is; Why has to EU willing to risk peace in Northern Ireland by alienating britain over mass immigration?
Why is mass immigration so important to the EU they are literally willing to alienate one of it's key member to point of jeopardising peace in it's member states?
Also there's being three big changes in Ireland, and we were only asked about two of them, gay marriage and abortion. The Irish people were never asked about mass immigration and multiculturalism, they were never asked did they want to make Ireland less Irish? And to my knowledge no European people in the EU were asked that question about their countries and their cultures?
The EU is non-democratic, F' em.

Even if I agreed with you on immigration
It has absolutely nothing to do with the eu anyway
Are you so deluded you think if the eu disappeared up it's own ass tomorrow that immigration would come to an end 😝😝😝

No Ireland as a choice to stay in the eu or to join the uk ,we decided to leave we cannot and don't want make Ireland do anything it doesn't want to do that would be wrong. I cannot remember did Ireland vote to stay in the eu what is the problem then.
Ireland has no choice. Joining the UK would make zero strategic, economic, social or political sense for Ireland. Ireland has never held a referendum on leaving the EU.
Joining the UK lol , what planet are you living on? :)
In the EU and its special relationship with the US it is the new bridge across the Atlantic. Why would it give that up to be London's bitch.

Whereas our good friends in Norway and Sweden accepted early repayment of their loans and took a hit on any interest payments. Even the loan sharks from the IMF accepted early repayment and also accepted the hit on any interest repayments.

Cool.
Not it doesn't. Joining the EU and US companies especially tech companies setting up EU HQ in Ireland created the Celtic tiger. Britain had nothing to do with that.
If you are a white nationalist you should join the BNP, there is no room for you in Irish republicanism.
If you are interested in criticizing gay people and abortion, join the Catholic priesthood. Your views don't relate to those of James Connolly or Wolfe Tone.
Irish Americans voted in favour of Hillary Clinton. Check the statistics. Just because white people voted for trump and Irish people are white doesn’t mean Irish people voted for trump. Good try at the math there though. It’s not easy...

What exactly did you find irritating, was it the fact that Ireland has as much influence in the USA as Britain .
Brexit has brought a few home truths that you Brits need to hear ,ie. you simply dont have the influence you once had and that includes assuming you can still bully a country like Ireland .
Sean Lynch So I need to be talked down to and told home truths by the holier than thou Bonnie Greer just because i am British? Would you like it if someone who moved to, and lived in your country, started publicly slagging it off? Do you enjoy being lectured to? THIS is what is irritating 😠 Of course I know Britain isn’t the powerful country it once was long ago! I don’t need telling that! In fact I voted to remain in the EU, in the 2016 Euro referendum. I could envisage the chaos that leaving Europe would entail, and that Britain would have been better and stronger off in the EU. I just don’t need to be patronised by the obsequious Bonnie, who is obviously trying to ingratiate herself with the Irish here, in the most nauseating insincere manner! 🤮 Yes, she may feel a strong connection to Ireland because she was raised in Chicago, where they dye the river green on St Patrick’s Day, BUT she talks about this as if she still lives over there!
