Martin, please convey to Alice we all hope she feels better soon, and that we miss her,
I used to turn wrenches on my old Macks.....mostly R-Models....and all mechanical. No computers. Seemed alot simpler back then. You two are doing things right and we all wish you continued success!
So you re an ol timer ! LoL you don t see R models Mack econodyne 350 much on the roads ! LoL that was my first truck 1985 R !camel-back suspension ! bought it in 1986 ! air windows, air wipers but no air seat, no cruise ! sometimes i was using the trottle on the left side of the seat, on the floor ! LoL I was pulling for Big Wheels transport out of PEI. ( prince edward island ) running canada only, hauling potatoes from the Island to Ontario mostly ! it was the good old times ! now i m retired and 66 years young ! LoL 🤠actually it s my Mack on my logo here ! you can click on it, you ll see it bigger on my banner ! 35 years of coast to coast trucking was enough for me !
Hope Alice feels better soon another great video Martin
Great video Martin 👍 old school all the way. And to Alice.. Get well.. get well soon.. we want you to get well! 🌻
Thanks y’all. Martin you are really old school. Nice. Hope Alice is better soon. Be Safe - God Bless Y’all
TonyJoe
Great video. Thank you. Keep them coming.
I was taught back in the day to jack front end up when greasing kingpins, takes pressure off and enables grease to penetrate better
Alice I hope you feel better soon miss all your videos.
Martin- if you don’t want to learn don’t be an owner operator. Very true statement! Now if only you had a big shop to work in, especially with 3 trucks!!
working on that all in due time
Good information for everyone. Praying Alice recovers soon. Take care of yourself also. God bless you all. 🙏🙏🙏
Alice, I hope you get to feeling better🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Alice is a real trooper for filming while she is sick. Thanks Alice.
I would wipe the zerk fittings before greasing them to limit contamination from dirt. Great video on servicing. If you cut the bottom of a 55 gallon drum, it makes a great oil pan for waste oil. I like the shut off fitting.
One of the secret’s to success being an O/O is. To know your truck. Doing in-depth inspections on your truck every week can ward off problems before they get out of hand. Everything starts off small and if you can catch it in that phase you save yourself a lot of heart aches and financial problems. Trucking is a business, run your business properly and you make money. Love watching your videos Martin when your talking about maintenance and doing it. Your the real deal. Well I hope Alice gets better soon and you find a team for Tiny and you and Alice get to run in your own trucks. Anywho Martin great video, have a great and a safe day, happy trails and happy motoring.
Thanks Martin. Great advice. Hope Alice is better soon. Blessings
Always service my own equipment saves a lot of money a year
Thank you sir this will help owner operators
Gracias,Very Good Video, Thanks Again Buddy, Have a good day.
Good morning Alice and Martin. Martin I have to say a couple of things. I always enjoy your videos. I really enjoy watching you do your Pre trips your always very through. And I've watched a lot of driver's don't even check their trailer lights. And I always enjoy watching you work on your truck or do maintenance you always explain everything so well. You have so much knowledge. Your just a pleasure to watch. Thank you. Alice I hope your feeling much better. We're missing you in the videos. Y'all take care and get healthy.
I'm not a trucker but I like how Martin explains how the engine works and how to preform maintenance on it.
This is helping very much
Speedy recovery from covid
As always love the content guys Video is very informative for those who do not know I love how you take the time and explain what you are doing And for the most part why it needs to be done They safe out there guys
I'm just trying to take in the plethora of knowledge..... Yesterday oil change today fuel filter and grease application. In all seriousness I'm going to be driving over the road next year and although it'll be a different kind of vehicle, this information is helpful.... Thanks
Glad to see you guys again.

Ware is the star of the show hope.she feels better
Great advise on truck maintenance, the same thing happen to me on my boat ,the boat has n electric fuel pump i change the filter n didn't prim the filter the boat ran out of gas n would not had to fill the filter n prim it ran great just didn't pay attention now turn the key n let it prim itself
I actually enjoy doing the service on my truck ,but have learned there is a different in cat and Cummings
Thanks Martin great video as always . Hope you are feeling better Alice ✌️
martin … good morning , fantastic work of demonstrating the mechanical work on modern tractor like your 579…. it would be nice if we could find s way to replace the main fuel filter(the one attached to frame below the cab) and learn how to replace it even its abit different fuel system… you guys have s good week and stay safe and do well
I have to replace that separator next week. Mines east to do, the Paccar frame mount upside down one is not bad but it can be a pain to prime.
Great part 2. Crazy how easy it could for a mechanic to mess up a truck.
You have to prime the filter wheb the key is in the on position through a release valve just above the primary fuel filter. When the fuel is squirting out, the valve there's no more air
Nice video Martin!
When I change my fuel filter on my cummins in my motorhome I always fill it with Power Service. Then I let it hogh idle for about a half hour.
Great video! I don't mind greasing, but I have switched out my grease guns to ends sold by Lock'N'Load so I get a great lock on the zerk and don't have to fight it. Plus they have a great selection of ends and adaptors to fit the zerks. Take a look - who knows, they could be a sponsor for you.
Find or make a plastic plug to put in the fuel outlet of that filter. Quicker and easier than trying to pour into the edge where inlets are! And take those grubby ass gloves off when wiping that seal! LOL!
In every vehicle I have owned, I believe I have gotten much better life out of factory sealed u-joints and slip joints. Not pushing dirt into them from the zirk and I think they are better sealed to keep out water. Finally bought a battery powered grease gun....sure beats dragging that air line around!
Why?? The seal only mating against the surface of the attachment on the engine block.
From your experience what are the pros and cons of disk break's compared to the drum brakes. Your ability to diagnose every system reflects a lot of extra knowledge study time not only saving you money but keeping you from being taken advantage of by repair shops while out on the road. The company my niece drives for one of her biggest complaints is poor maintenance standards . She always does a very serious pre trip inspection reports current and future maintenance needs . What is so shocking to her is seeing a truck/trailer on the public road's with a mostly newer driver with the reported defective not repaired yet . She told me when she first started her driving career she was lucky enough to be mentored by good people like you and your family.
That is one sharp 579 I hope Peterbilt is backing you..🍕
Lol. I wish!!! We should pitch them though.
Power steering pump and reservoir looked loose and shaken 🤔🤔🤔….also chassis needs powerwasher to clean up
GREAT VIDEO MARTIN.
Hope that ALICE is feeling better. ALICE when did you live in Washington? What year?
1980-lived there until uh around 2000 i think
I reckon as time goes by, you will change your mind about the greaseless uni joints. My truck has done over a million miles and never touched them.
I’ve had both the problem with greaseless u joints is most folks don’t keep an eye on the seals. And then the grease slings out and they fail. But grease style every time it gets greased most guys look at the seals and inspect them. I’ve only driven one truck in my 38 years of driving that had greaseless driveline it lost a u joint at 200,000 miles, destroyed both brake chambers, s cam assemblies leveling valve, and most of the hoses back there. Was rear drive shaft so I don’t care for them. Glad you’re having good luck with them to each their own.
Yeah we do run a lot heavier drive lines down here in Australia, most new trucks are either rated to 90 or 130 tons, 4.33/4.56 diff ratios with 18 speed road ranger gear box. Mine is a 600 Cummins with 4.33/18 speed/46k diffs/100km/h at 1620 rpm and 90 ton rated.a fairly run of the mill spec down here👍🏻👍🏻
Hey Martin, I have a question, would it be a good idea to get an under carriage wash with hot water and decreased to get all the old contaminated grease off the components before greasing?
👍👍👍👍
I was told that if you don't take the pressure off the king pins when greasing, they don't take the grease properly 🤷🏻♂️🤔.....ever since then, I jack up the front end.... curious as to what you think.....thx👍🏻👍🏻
Apologize - meant to say Lock'N'Lube - thinking too much military for some reason.😁
Power steering pump reservoir looks to be a little loose Martin... that thin bolt on plate work loose?
Good morning guy, I hope Alice is feeling much better!! I have a question about the new Cali law of the engine having to 2010 or newer. How is this law affecting your company? Missed you guys.
I just viewed a video at Mutha Trucker: "CARB Is Sending Out Letters Scaring Truckers That They Will Be Fined $10,000 A Day"

You didn't check the hubs Martin
I say BS on the need to fill fuel filter down the side like you did.
Wow drive shaft with life time grease. They must make Super Duper grease for it ! What will they think of next &$@£|’_^%
