I know this is an older video. But, I just changed the left rear wheel bearing assembly on my 16 a6 quattro. It was humming.
This video helped a ton to complete the swap.
I could not get enough leverage on the on two bottom bolts holding the assembly in.
I ended up removing the lower control arm bolt to gain access to the bottom bolts.
It was a little difficult getting the knuckle lined up with the lower control arm to replace the bolt but worth it.

Dude that torch trick is solid ,I'll never waste time cutting them ever again ✌️

People that never done this don't know how much work it is, especially with corrosion and limited tools. There's a bit of invincibility when I watch Nap work and also makes me worried for myself...

You got a thumbs up from me.
The torch trick for making the last, inner part of the bearing fall off the flange by rotating with the power tool and heating it in parallel with the torch is SUPERB! No more cutting, as in other videos.
You get in return from me another helpful trick how to remove more easily the metal bearing holder from the main hub, instead of chiseling it manually. Just use an air hummer with a (big) chisel attached to it, BUT work sideways DIRECTLY on the metal bearing holder on the parts where the screws go in. So NOT like you, trying to get the chisel between the bearing holder and the main hub in order to separate them, BUT directly and ONLY on the metal bearing holder (on its "ears") as you would try to rotate it in the main hub by chiseling it with the air hummer; seen it in another video - much, much easier and quicker and also not (potentially) harming the aluminum main hub.
    Found something like this:

That is a cool technique to drive in the hub into the bearing with the axel bolt.. I’ve done probably 20 bearings on the B8 and I used to try to take out the ABS sensor and they were always seized and I always broke them.. then I stoped messing around with the sensor.. I now soak the entire flange with PBBlaster for days prior to starting.. the top two triple squares are easy to get to, I use a bit and a snap on 10mm torque adapter 3/8 drive that 2” allows you to get some leverage while getting clear of that control arm.. I’ve never had to chisel or beat out the bearing flange they always separate from the knuckle and never had to use heat but it’s a good idea.. I always press hub to bearings with press.. it needs to go in slow and straight.. I think your technique would work it someone as skilled as you were doing it.. easy to melt a lot of things.. great video here and agree always break loosen and torque that 19mm axel bolt with car and wheel on the ground.. always replace the bolt it’s TTY

lmfaoo bro you made that stuff look so easy.i did a couple of those and its and absolute work out. when youuse the torch to take the inner. bearingoff that was amazing. i usually use a angle grinder and cut a slit right into it and then chise lit right off. thums up from me.

Tech tip, Instead of lug bolts you can screw an old drain plugs and zap them on to 20nm and it holds the rotor in place. I put two , across each other . Never damages the setscrew

You predamage the bearing if you press the Flansch with the Center Bolt behause it is obligat to press it over the inner Ring of the bearing.

for the bearing that are seized in the spindle i have another trick for you: after you back out the 4 screws put 2 back in(top left bottom right for example) and do 3 4 full turns and then you can hammer them or use an air hammer and it will push the corroded bearing out! you're welcome 😁

  • @unprofessionalmechanic8466

Mr. Naptown Tuner, I bought a modified-ish 2012 VW GTI with dead engine and to fix that I bought a 2012 GTI with 46K miles from Copart and plan on carrying over Engine+DSG+Subframes along few other things, since original GTI has 130k - makes sense I guess. Now, 46k donor turned ouy to have CCTA head while other one has BPY one. I have really nice BPY head so thats not an issue, I will just throw that in with APR studs because why not.
Now, I will have a beautiful CCTA head left over with 46k miles on it, there was no mechanical issues with donor, no jumped timing, nothing like that. Is that something you might be interested in? Anything else off that 46k miles GTI that I am not planing on carrying over? Set of nice studded wheels if you'te up North? Just wanted to give you heads up before I throw out any "parting out" ads.
I am in Jersey Shore area, lets say 25 min away from exit 10 of NJ Turnpike and 5 min away from exit 117 of Garden State Parkway.
    Please LMK.
    Roman.

Hey man, Im thinking about purchasing a 2012 Q5 S Line premium plus w/ 118k miles. Ive seen the carfax it's pretty clean. it has a 3.2 V6 engine. Its rides like new but i'm a little apprehensive because of all the comments i'm seeing about issues with it having over 100k. miles. but I'm wondering if those people making comments even service their car regularly and used the proper fuel. I'm the kind of driver who follow the schedule maintenance and used premium fuel and change oil 4 times per year so i'm guessing i'll be okay? do you have any thoughts? and where are you located so i'll bring the car to you for servicing lol

Naptown Turner, PLEASE HELP ME! My Audi q5 is creating pressure in the cooling system. I did a combustion test and it came out negative even though there was a lot of gasses coming into cooling system? Non of these were exhaust gasses btw but bizarre thing is when I turn the heater on it stops? Could it be aux pump as I’m getting code for that? Worth changing?

I bought and returned a three lb slide hammer cuz it didn't do squat for getting it out. I was just sore as heck afterwards. I had to use a bearing remover tool by planting it on the front of the spindle and one of the pucks on back and screw/pull the bearing housing out. I wasn't using it the way it was intended but it was the only way it was so corroded. I also had to remove the CV axle flange from the transmission. I was pure beat-up afterwards for two days.

I see a huge problem. If you were on the Giligans Island Show, It would have lasted only one season. After you built your smelting kiln, the SS Minnow would run long enough to get the men back to safety. And you stayed behind to help the girls without Mrs. Howle. Now renamed "Naked and Not Afraid." Well played, I like how your brain works; once the snow melts off and the cold, wet ground dries up a bit, I'll take a shot at fixing my wife's t-boned right read on her Q5. So, what are the touch specs for the axil bog bolt?

How much oil does it use? Someone sent me a video of their turbo leaking past the shaft once but so far I have not seen a bad turbo on one of these specific engines yet, it has always been oil consumption with pistons so far. On my 1.8t b5 audi on the other hand I even had that one break the turbo shaft on the highway while I was driving (my own car). The wastegate linkage always go les loose on these 2nd gen 2.0t’s though causing a p0299. If you want to talk about it further you can email me at Naptowntuner@yahoo.com for my phone#
