I used to drive that one on eBay, my mate Neil used to own it. It’s a 3.0L S underneath and used to be a stunning car. At least it’s still around, it must be nearly 30 years ago when I last drove it.

The only thing I thought let it down was that there was no attempt to do anything with the interior. It was just Capri inside (leather seats).

They used to have a DMS Bullitt Capri at Brooklands. Not sure if it's still there, but they used to take people up the hillclimb in it.

I bought my beloved fire-engine red 2.) litre Capri Ghia for just 250 quid! A mechanic friend of mine took it from a customer as payment and despite the car being only ten years old ('T'-reg) less than 30k on the clock and utterly immaculate...nobody wanted it! I loved Capri's and snatched his hand off! Best car I ever owned... well, ok not the best but certainly the most enjoyable!
Alas, 7 years later and still immaculate, some old pratt in a new Volvo rammed into it while parked outside my house, on a steep hill. Bastard Insurance company refused to repair.
To this day, I am Still Gutted!
Best car Ford ever made - the ONLY car that Could get you laid!
Ridiculous the prices they are going for today, utterly unbelievable!

Its the circle of life - lot of kit car donors are now worth considerably more than the kit car now is!

I bought my Capri because it was iconic.DYY 957V iirc. It replaced my mkv cortina.
It was the easiest car to work on I ever had.
I was around 19years old and all my mates had rusty 104's, polo's and minis.
I was king of the street until I traded it for a SD1 2600............😂😂

Nice little story, hadn't heard of these before. That red magazine featured hard top didn't look the best.

The bullet you mentioned on ebay. I thinks it's on Hudson auto films channel. Whether its the same one I am not 100% but both are the same colour. Its rotten and he has taken the body off (I have seen one that is equally rotten), its even rusted through on the firewall

You are absolutely correct, it's the same car - and we have been in conversation with them about maybe doing a video together.

A few years ago a friend bought a hard top conversion 2'8 turbo and he had it totally restored it turned out to be a money pit after taking off the body kit it was found to be rusted badly it did get finished and the guy ran it for a bit. later on I was able to buy a rust free 1986 2ltr Laser with the pinto engine I had some work done on the engine putting on a carb from a 3 ltr we also put a 4 speed racing style gearbox and wise 3 lre wheels it was very fast sold it in the end as I have problems with my joints and needed a 4x4 that was better for me to get in and out off Ironically I sold it to the guy who had the 3.8 not seen ether of them for a few years now .

I love these stories. I have so many regrets over the cars I sold and scrapped!

My personal ‘dog in this fight’ is that I was the proud owner of five consecutive 2.8 Injection Specials throughout the late 80s / early 90s.
I absolutely hated everything about the faux Astons then and even more so now.
Ha ha ha . . . . nothing makes me happier about those monstrosities than hearing about their demise as far as their worth goes. £150 ? you couldn’t get a new MK 3 windscreen for that 😂

With a name like Bullett you'd expect a Mustang homage not an Aston!

Love Capri's, had a 1.6L, a 2.0S, a couple of 3.0S's, a 3.0 Ghia auto, all Mk3's, always wanted a factory spec Series X (X Pack), with the subtle blown out wings and fat 13" RS four spokes. On the subject of aftermarket body kits Fibresports did a XXX version which as well as the wings added a nose cone, side skirts and often a Cosworth whale tale, it was hideous, while the factory X pack looked great (like a Capri on steroids) the XXX just took it too far and looked tacky.

I gave 50 pounds for my last Carpi.

  • @briansaiditsoitmustbetrue4206

Factory standard is ALWAYS the best ... I really hate it when I see cars that have been "Bastardized" It should be against the law to modify a Ford Escort RS Cosworth... Factory standard these cars are gorgeous... People modify them and make them look 💩
Why would you spend money making your car worth LESS?????

      @oscarsgarage447  Před 9 měsíci +1

As someone who restores bike to standard, you have my vote!!!

Quality mods on an escort cosworth make them more valuable in my eyes as standard they weren’t the fastest or the best .Standard isn’t always the best as standard factory cars are a compromise for warranty and longevity reasons

Sometimes less can be more ... The Ford Escort RS Cosworth is a great example of this.. Myself I would rather pay more for a car that has NOT had naff bits of plastic from Halfords stuck on it. @@bmwman1981
