“That’s because we’re not religious…” I remember over a decade ago when the go to phrase among Atheists was “I don’t need a God to tell me right from wrong”
Exactly. We appeal to God for objective morality. It's an argument for Christian morality not against it. Destiny pointed that out when he debated Trent the first time.
@@longboy5639 One could probably argue God is the source of morality and He also dictates morality too. The latter in the sense that without divine revelation humanity would not know what is moral. The former in the sense that morality wouldn't exist without God being.

C.S Lewis is basically the greatest Christian philosopher of the 1900s. So good that even the many denominations of Christianity come together to agree he was good.
Trent said it himself. Truth is found in the metaphysical foundation of reality. He thinks he is so virtuous because he thinks his values are the same as Gods law. Most people claiming that ghosts exists are usually insane, Trent cant prove a thing but to appeal to peoples emotion or make syllogisms with false premises or a the least unverifiable ones
It’s disappointing that Trent misrepresented Destiny here. This is a common issue between moral realists and moral anti realists. When destiny made the world war 2 comment, he made it clear that he didn’t believe there was an objective standard by which the sides of world war 2 could be judged. Remember, in the moral realism vs anti realism debate, “objective” means “stance independent”. In other words, these facts obtain independent of whether or not human minds are there to be aware of them or to even exist. Trend Horn should know this since, as far as I’m aware, he has a degree in philosophy and bio ethics. So he **ought** know the main disagreements in meta ethical discourse and it’s clear that destiny is an anti-realist since he holds moral values to inherently be partial and subjective projections. Thus there is no inconsistency with destiny discussing his views on Israel and morally condemning the opposing while thinking morality isn’t objective side since he still considers moral condemnation to be meaningful in discourse, he just doesn’t hold that such moral language expresses propositions about stance independent facts of the world and that moral values boil down to value-holders and those values can fluctuate from person to person. An example of this might be someone who discusses Mathematics but doesn’t believe numbers exist beyond the conceptual apparatus of rational man. While some mathematicians are platonists, some aren’t. Yet both can discuss mathematics and what is mathematically correct and what isn’t. (Of course, math is a very limited analogy to morality since there seems to be more clear rules on math that dictate correct and incorrect equations whereas morality is still something that can be disputed and challenged at every turn of assertion, but the main point is the stance-independent commitment need not be required to have meaningful discourse on the matter and to promote a given position or view). In fact, Trent’s own justification for “calling a space a spade” almost reflects a sentiment destiny in this very video is shown to hold. That morality being stance independent or not, at some point, you just have to realize there are irreconcilable differences and a competition of force is required to ensure a winning side. The morality being objective does very little for the realist and anyone familiar with Moore’s open question argument will realize that morality is still one of the most contestable domains of inquiry since any asserted principle or postulate can simply yield the same question in response: “is that really good?”. And while it is true that such a question can be assignee to any claim of X’s (descriptive or prescriptive) status, moral assertions seem to often harbor a unique ability to be questioned.

@TongueGooseSka I agree it's not a great argument. I think it greatly lacks in agreeable rhetoric that is likely to convince the other side. I doubt trent used it as a serious argument. I think it's true that Destiny is insane if by insane we simply mean greatly deviates in first principles and intuitions from natural moral law, so to me the logic is clear, by definition Destiny is insane, so trent is right in saying, "[the reason we differ on this is] because youre not sane...". Funny enough, Alex and Destiny just had a good conversation where Destiny argued people aren't really principled as they will quickly go back on one of those principles when it comes in conflict with another. And that's exactly what's happening here. On the one hand, Destiny wants to say Trump is evil mustache man and thus anything bad that happens to him or his supports should be celebrated. On the other hand he wants to lambast people on the opposite aisle politically for their behavior in with regards to other incidents of political violence, making jokes about the victims. But to be principled and consistent with one of those things, he must contradict himself on the other. It's not a matter of striving for consistency in the face of obvious moral depravity. There is no action he can take to be consistent with these two beliefs he holds.

the fact that they recognize the "value" of logical consistency also is a proof for God that they just take for granted as "just the way things are" Why is the logos better than chaos? Because it is good. There is no atheist justification for logical consistency
'...they take for granted as "just the way things are."' Maybe some atheists do, but I wouldn't evaluate a worldview's veracity based on arguments from its least thoughtful proponents. One possible atheist justification for logical consistency is the notion of fairness. If someone's moral system were inconsistent, then they could treat me differently to someone else for no reason. I wouldn't like that because it's unfair, so I advocate for logical consistency. For The sake of argument I'll assume atheism and Christianity are the only two worldviews, and at least one of them is correct. If I understand your comment correctly, the proof goes something like this: P1.1. Atheists recognize the value of logical consistency P1.2. There is no atheist justification for logical consistency P1.3. Christians recognize the value of logical consistency P1.4. The value of logical consistency comes from God C1. Therefore God exists Once you replace P1.2 with what atheists actually believe, the argument becomes: P2.1. Atheists recognize the value of logical consistency P2.2. Atheist justification for logical consistency comes from personal preferences P2.3. Christians recognize the value of logical consistency P2.4. The Christian value of logical consistency comes from God C2. Therefore personal preferences exist or God exists Not a very good proof for God if you ask me.
@@wintersprung No, if anyone assigns any "value" to anything they have already conceded that some kind of ultimate value exists, ie God. The atheist worldview is completely subjective, there is no room for any objective standards AT ALL. People mostly just talk about this with respect to morality, but it applies to everything. Preferences are unrelated to value, if I say my favorite food is pizza that does not imply at all that pizza is the best food.
@@topper009 Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure what your definition of "value" is, but based on your last sentence you consider value to be objective. I agree that the atheist worldview is subjective. However, in this subjective worldview, the notion of value still exists, and it follows from preferences. For example, pizza is more valuable than hot dogs to people whose favourite food is pizza and hot dogs are more valuable than pizza for people whose favourite food is hot dogs. In the same way, atheists can value logical consistency over contradiction following from their preferences (see my previous comment). My point is that your proof will be unconvincing to an atheist because they recognize a subjective value, not an objective value. You say they have no justification for logical consistency, but they have a subjective justification. For your proof to work you will need to demonstrate objective value first, but at that point you will have already proven God.
A lot of people have been shocked by the vile things issuing from Destiny in the wake of the assassination attempt on Trump. Destiny used to annoy me, then anger me, but now he just saddens me. The reason why Destiny is so triggered (no pun intended) that an innocent man died protecting his family is that he realizes he has no one in his life he would do that for, and no one would do that for him. Despite his fame (I guess you could call it) and money, he doesn’t have this. No wonder he has no respect for human life, including his own.
I disagree. Destiny is pissed because the failed assassination attempt strengthens Trump when the election comes around. He has to run the more dishonest damage control imaginable because his team might lose. And in this sense, it is okay and laughable for innocent men to die so Destiny can be on the winning team. He fails to realize that he is only appealing to never Trumpers which made up their minds long before intelligence services started trying to frame Trump. The never Trumpers were never going to leave the camp and his approach convinces no others. His whole life revolves around poopy pants and other political stooges.
The tragedy of this world is a good man who protected his community died protecting his family while this Destiny has contributed far less to our society and is safe at home living his best life . We lost a hero and making light of that is lowest thing an American can do .
For a long time, I was under the delusion that Destiny was the "reasonable lefty" because he was always willing to reach out and have a lot of conversations with people on the other side of the political aisle, exposing people in a left-leaning audience to perspectives they wouldn't otherwise hear. But after Trent's debate with Destiny on the Whatever podcast (the one-on-one debate on the topic of abortion), my view of him changed forever, and his recent meltdown has only further solidified that view of him. Destiny's career should not have continued after that debate; he revealed himself to be a completely and utterly depraved freak. I'm glad people are seeing this more clearly now
Trents debate about abortion, plus watching him with Jordan Peterson, speaking about climate change, now his recent thoughts on this assassination attempt, have shown who he is. I was shocked when Jordan asked him basically if it was ok to kill thousands right now, to protect people in the future in a situation that we don't even know will actually exist. Destiny had the response that it was a sacrifice we should be willing to make. It was so shocking to me, and to Jordan Peterson, to hear someone say that. Not to mention that by the deaths of many right now in the present, you insure that many will not exist in a future, which makes it all so illogical to begin with. But Destiny would be ok with that, because he believes we need less people anyway.

Chesterton on the mad man: “He is the more logical for losing certain sane affections. Indeed, the common phrase for insanity is in this respect a misleading one. The madman is not the man who has lost his reason. The madman is the man who has lost everything except his reason.”
Yes! There is no whimsy in the madman that Chesterton described! He is an idealogue, in Chesteron's eyes -- and as such, is someone that Pope Francis has warned us against frequently!
That’s a clear cut confession that humans are not rational (which we aren’t). The problem is: using an argument against being “more logical” is self refuting, for argument entails logic
10:50 this is why I will never care about the "moral" judgments of materialists of any flavor. They can't invalidate someone else's moral claims because they have no ground to justify their own as superior. It's not even "might makes right." It's "there is no right, only....Destiny."
The fatal error in this type of consistency is that it is targetted at an inconsistent target. On TV Tropes, it is called the "Hitler Ate Sugar" fallacy. A moral principle is consistent. A human being is not. Human beings, here on earth, are mixes of good and bad.
Hitler ate sugar and he was evil, and you eat sugar so you must be evil as well? There's big problems with that parallel. First it's implying that Hitler was evil because he ate sugar, which makes eating sugar the evil act. Then it tries to connect the dots with the other person being evil because they also eat sugar. Well, if eating sugar is evil, then yes, the other person is also evil for doing that. But everyone knows that's not why Hitler was evil, it was for his other actions and examples which people use to compare others to Hitler's character.
Piers Morgan had him on. Destiny is on something. He was twitching uncontrollably. He was slamming energy drinks, and that's usually a sign of stimulant abuse.
It isn't his consistency that stands out to me, it's his hypocritical judgmental attitude. Voluntary firefighters will always be worth more than Destiny.
One thing that really tends to get under my skin about moral relativists like Destiny is that they're happy to tell you in one setting that when people say things like "X is evil" they're just saying something semantically equivalent to "I have a strong subjective preference against X" but they never actually use that language themselves when discussing a topic they're passionate about because it's significantly rhetorically weaker. Either Destiny is a hypocrite when he says the IDF is evil, or he's intellectually dishonest. There's definitely a reason why Destiny called the IDF evil and didn't just say "my subjective value preference is against the IDF" and I'm not sure which of those options I find more repulsive.
If Destiny genuinely believes that there was no “right or wrong” sides to WWII, then I never want to hear him condemn Nazis or call someone a Nazi as a pejorative ever again Because if his mind is so rotted to the point of not condemning the actual Nazis of the Second World War, then he has no ground to call anyone in the 21st century evil for being neo-Nazis. Plain and simple.
He shouldn't also be wanting Trump dead because according to his worldview, the real Hitler may or may not be morally justified in his actions therefore the fake Hitler(Trump) shouldn't be hated too.
Both sides had evil in WWII. The Soviets killed many more people than the Germans and had far more targets for destruction. The fact that the US teamed up with the USSR to defeat the Nazis is another shadow across America's history.

And Destiny and others like him learned that Socrates showed the faults in people’s thinking by asking questions and testing the limits of definitions and conclusion. In the Plato’s Dialogues, Socrates that some granted definitions led to absurd conclusions or applications; the reductio ad absurdum. And in the dialogues, the honest, common-sensed ‘opponents’ would admit that, yea, their given definition led to absurd situations. Their definitions, in other words, couldn’t be consistent (in a sane, common-sense way), and thus understood that their conclusions were false or fallacious. Destiny and the like are in denial that they can be proved wrong or fallacious. What’s their solution? Don’t admit the absurdity of conclusions, nah, they run with it. Take their idea consistently to-bestiality, rooting for assassination, etc. They don’t want to give ‘Socrates’ the chance to prove them wrong. Pray that humility enter their heart some day… TL;DR: Destiny is in denial he’s wrong and his ideas are absurd.

9:08 you know it’s going down when even Trent loses his cool and calls his opponent “an insane person” I’ve always heard of Trent as the “calm debater” so this is really something to behold.
G.K. Chesterton once remarked that he could debate almost everyone, but he could not debate Allister Crowley. It was because the man was too depraved. I think the same could be said for "Destiny". There is not much to be gained from debating someone with depraved views, there is no common ground.
The Bible even tells us not to deal with evil. If a person become too far gone, too evil in their ways, then we are to flee in order not to be snared by it. Watching Destiny grandstand his venom only causes anger, frustration and bitterness, I choose to not surround myself with all that negativity. You can plant a seed, but it is only Destiny who can save himself. Yes, we were taught to love and spread it to others, but we're also commanded to not get caught up in the ways of the wicked. Destiny's heart is hateful, vile and putrid towards more than half of the country and he's not proving himself to be any different than the party who instigated all of this hateful rhetoric and violence. They started it, we memed them and through their hate of the majority in this country, they killed us. They have a body count and celebrate it, we don't. You can bring up Rittenhouse all you want but a court of law ruled that was self-defense (because duh). Destiny is the poster boy for how weak men destroy everything they touch
"As long as it doesn't bother me, it's all okay!!"

On the other hand he wants to lambast people on the opposite aisle politically for their behavior in with regards to other incidents of political violence, making jokes about the victims. Why is no one hyping the shit out of this comment. So good 🙌🙌🙌
'...they take for granted as "just the way things are."' Maybe some atheists do, but I wouldn't evaluate a worldview's veracity based on arguments from its least thoughtful proponents.
If I understand your comment correctly, the proof goes something like this:
P1.1. Atheists recognize the value of logical consistency
P1.2. There is no atheist justification for logical consistency
P1.3. Christians recognize the value of logical consistency
P1.4. The value of logical consistency comes from God
C1. Therefore God exists
Once you replace P1.2 with what atheists actually believe, the argument becomes:
P2.1. Atheists recognize the value of logical consistency
P2.2. Atheist justification for logical consistency comes from personal preferences
P2.3. Christians recognize the value of logical consistency
P2.4. The Christian value of logical consistency comes from God
C2. Therefore personal preferences exist or God exists
Not a very good proof for God if you ask me.

I've been pointing them back to your debate (and a much earlier debate with Ask Yourself where he again bites the bullet on the most monstrous propositions in the sake of consistency) so that they can see that this is not just a particularly severe case of 'Trump-Derangement Syndrome', but merely a florid eruption of Destiny's longstanding moral vacuity.
Yes. That's worst part of this entire "controversy." Everyone think's he's being cruel/having a meltdown and not that this is what he believes/has always been like this.

“You are not sane. You are an insane person!” at 9:29 was such a good line. I love that you were willing to call a spade a spade with that one.
9:19
The only sane man in a room full of insane people!
"best life" is a strange way to put it.
I'm glad people are seeing this more clearly now
His good attribute is that he’s intelligent. But he is quite immoral.
Ifdk how you could possibly get the idea he's reasonable he's always been insane
@@rightinthedome9973 I hadn't watched him all that regularly. My first real exposure to him was during the Kyle Rittenhouse situation where he actually took the reasonable stance on the issue

The problem is Destiny really isn’t consistent. He’s consistent with hating Republicans outside of that. He is not consistent.
Thank you, I wanted that quote in here.
That’s a clear cut confession that humans are not rational (which we aren’t). The problem is: using an argument against being “more logical” is self refuting, for argument entails logic
@stquodvultdeus4613 Chesterton warns against using reason and logic in a vacuum, not against reason or logic itself.
@@rasmusmller625 Affections don’t dictate what truth is
10:50 this is why I will never care about the "moral" judgments of materialists of any flavor. They can't invalidate someone else's moral claims because they have no ground to justify their own as superior. It's not even "might makes right." It's "there is no right, only....Destiny."
Thankfully young men didn't think like Destiny 85 years ago. They stormed beaches and lived in dirt holes. We have lost our way.
Yep. Meth heads use it as cover.
He's on amphetamines for his ADD/ADHD.
@@tripplejazDoesn’t mean he isn’t abusing.
If Destiny genuinely believes that there was no “right or wrong” sides to WWII, then I never want to hear him condemn Nazis or call someone a Nazi as a pejorative ever again
Because if his mind is so rotted to the point of not condemning the actual Nazis of the Second World War, then he has no ground to call anyone in the 21st century evil for being neo-Nazis.

Yup, most Western atheists are cultural Christians
No, most people just go with their feelings, which is why most Christians today think slavery is bad in defiance of their scriptures and Church Fathers. According to Augustine, God approved of the flogging of disobedient slaves: "You must use the whip, use it! God allows it. Rather, he is angered if you do not lash the slave. I have a bit of a theory as to why Destiny and some others take “consistency” to an extreme. I want to say that once in the past Destiny and others like him learned about Socrates, the first true philosopher.
Pray that humility enter their heart some day…
TL;DR: Destiny is in denial he’s wrong and his ideas are absurd.
