    hello! I'm currently taking the IB program, I'm not facing muchh difficulties understanding the materials , however, i still end up getting 'bad' grades. I'm also really bad at managing my time. would you be willing to do a video on time management/motivation or a separate video for every subject you're taking with tips/ia/etc (I'm taking similar classes ) as well TOK please. Would highly appreciate it, thanks! Good luck in uni! X

    I did the Ib for 1 year (10th grade) and then I did a National school system in Brazil. It is so different from one another! While you can choose the subjects you want to take in the Ib and change them each year, in Brazil's system you have to take a set of subjects for all 3 years (biology, chemistry, physics, math, philosophy, geography, history, portuguese, english, spanish and PE (physical education). And there isnt levels. I think Brazil's system is better for people who are unsure of what they want to study in college and for people who want to broaden their knowledge. The Ib is good for specializing.
    Love your vids!!

  • @yaemikosrealgf

    I finished the MYP program (middle school program which is later leading to IB) but i'm actually attending a normal (haha "normal") high school now (it was more beneficial in my case cause I probably won't study abroad - it's too expensive) but! all of my friends are in IB and I love the spirit that IB students have! Also sometimes I wonder if not doing IB was really a good idea😭😭 in my country school system mainly focus on dumbly putting facts in students' heads without even trying to make them understand how everything works. Another thing that I've noticed is that IB approaches students individually, allows them to grow and expand themselves in individuallistic ways. So yeah. Do the IB, kids, it'll benefit you a lot.
    After writing this down I think I actually regret not doing IB 😢

    I did IB for middle school and it led to a bad mental experience. I received very bad anxiety. In addition, if I would have done IB I also would have had to repeat some high school credit classes that I took in middle school. Also as a person of color I experienced some prejudice. It isn’t as diverse as it portrays itself to be. But I also know people who have had a good experience with IB. Just know if you see that IB isn’t right for you, you’re not missing out. There are plenty of other programs (like duel enrollment).

      I disagree. IB really isn’t built for 11 year olds in 6th grade who are fresh off elementary. I recommend taking it in 11th and 12th when you are an adult

      @studycollab  Před 5 lety +1

      Personally, I did that combination and found it was super good because it involved less memorisation 🤣 and also for most uni’s it is more likely that chem HL Would be a pre requisite over bio HL 👍
      But also keep in mind which one you are better at because chem HL can get pretty challenging!

    so i heard that the ib is similar to AP in the US
    i was wondering how they were different from each other if at all

    • @LikelyFei
      @LikelyFei Před 5 lety +4

      Riley Haveman I took both AP and IB in highschool (in the US). I wasn’t full IB so I didn’t do the EE/CAS.
      She is totally right in saying to do your research about what’s a good fit for you. Personally I wish I had only done AP. I found that a lot of colleges in California didn’t even recognize SL level courses for transfer credits.
      In terms of coursework the AP and IB students were often in the same class learning the same material. For example APUSH and IB HISTORY HL 1 were in the same class.
      TL;DR most of the time the coursework is the same so find out what your prospective colleges accept in terms of transfer credits

    M19 IB Diploma candidate here. If you live in the US and planning to stay in the US, look at your schools IB requirements (Google "your school name, IB"). Then compare it to AP credits. My school screwed me over and I would've been WAY better off doing AP instead of IB and that is the case for many US schools. If this is your case, DO NOT DO IB
