Please tell me Jordan is going to be the permanent host. The way he let Michael Shannon breathe as he responded to his questions (versus jumping in and hurrying him along) was refreshing. Well done!
It's about demographics. They got 3 capable hosts on staff. None are world class for the position, but any of them could grow into it.
Jordan is probably so happy interviewing people that have more than 1 brain cell from all his time out in the field. He's doing a great job here
Love Michael Shannon. The best weirdly conflicted bad guy in American film. Seriously. Compelling.
seriously the best weirdly conflicted guy or seriously compelling?
@@jp-sn6si - Both. They aren't mutually exclusive.
Totally nailed it. Well said. Love his stuff big time. It's like he's in this constant state of tension.
@@eme.261 not according to that sentence.
Yeah I don't think I've ever seen him in anything I didn't like and if he's IN it I want to check it out. And tell other people to watch!
Jordan is the best listener of any host; he knows when to let his guest talk and when to interject. There are various strengths of different hosts, but I really appreciate that about him.
Mr. Shannon is one of the best low key actors in Hollywood and it has been a joy watching him morph from Boardwalk Empire to today.
I see Michael Shannon I click watch him in anything. Great job Jordan thanks.
Michael Shannon’s performance in 99 Homes is both underrated and extremely important
Jordan Klepper should be permanent host, he is SUCH a great interviewer, just a total natural,
I think Jordan and Roy should be co-hosts on TDS.
Nah. He belongs in the field,. No one does on the road interviews better than he does
We need Jordan in the field. Let Hasan Minhaj be host. He’s great at everything. Then the current Correspondents could stay in their roles.
Nah, he deserves it because his talk walks and how much more coverage of trumpers do we need? You listen to one and you've heard them all.

Jordan is doing a fantastic job this week and his interviews are not just entertaining, but insightful and interesting.
He would be an excellent choice to host the Daily Show.
I love how Jordan allowed his guest to speak.
He's known for playing such intense and at times scary roles, but then you watch his interviews and he says things like "aw, gee" which remind you he's just a normal, sweet adorable guy that also happens to be a phenomenal actor
Haha. I thought scary was the only mood he does. 😅
People are complex
I still can never see him as not angry and scary. Even while he's sitting there with his "uhms" and "well, gee"'s lol
Yeah, I do appreciate living where I have running tap water, postal service (even though DeJoy is *still trashing it* ), electric service, Police protection (if you call them), trash pick up and even paved roads. People who gripe about "too much government" apparently haven't lived without these services long term. Life is better WITH services, especially in a town. *Appreciate what you do have people!*
Yes! They should go to Mogadishu Somalia if they don't like the government!❄️🌎❄️
@@johnstallings4049The right consistently advocate policies that no other wealthy country would consider. Policies only seen in the poorest countries with the least real freedom.
Love how Jordan let him have the time to speak and got him to warm up and laugh a little.
Please make Jordan Klepper the permanent host.
His humour is the best!
Man I love Jordan Klepper!
Michael's Boardwalk Empire performance is something I'll always remember.
I will never forget Michael's performance in Boardwalk Empire
That's where I feel in love with him.
Best performance on the show by far
@@graham974 I can’t pick favorites there
@@shards0fwords Everyone was pretty great on that show. Stephen Graham, Kelly Macdonald, Michael Kenneth Williams…
@@graham974 there was a little known actor on that show named Steven Buscemi, too. He's gonna go places
The daily show has such a depth of talent. They should keep revolving them as lead based on what is going on.
Yep I keep saying, rotate guests inside and outside daily show weekly or fortnightly. The writers and producers are still the same people writing the jokes, the host just adds a flair and can be positive when they go off script
Michael is an unbelievable talent, He's great in everything
Is it just me or is he confused as to why they are redirecting to events that have currently happened?
He could have just said look I’m the actor and producer I need a paycheck, too.
I would be fine with Jordan Klepper being the new host of the Daily Show. He’s super smart
Michael Shannon is a legend! He has always stood out in a crowd of many, and has my utmost respect.
Its so interesting to see this being covered as an adult. I grew up in the 90s and it was a short couple year spand that just kept going.
First Ruby Ridge, next year Waco, and just a couple years later Oklahoma city.
And they all were connected in a weird way.
I dont think you can really cover one without covering them all. It was a series of tragic dominos.
The most interesting part is that to someone that grew up in the 90s it might seem like it was only those incidents that exist in conjunction with each other, but in reality it goes back to the inception of the FBI, CIA, and ATF. From the assassination of John F Kennedy to the shootout with the Black Panther Party, it is obvious that there are factions inside of government that are willing to annihilate any discerning entities that are a threat to their hold on power. Just look at what is going on today with the fiasco against Donald. I'm not a fan of that con man, but they are trying really hard to keep him from running, instead of trying to beat him with votes. Why do you think that is?
Michael Shannon will forever be Zod to me. "I will find your son. I will FIND HIM!!!" 😂😂😂
Dude thats slim Shadys step dad and zod guys got amazing range
I didn't think it was possible to love Michael Shannon any more than I already do. I stand corrected. 🥰
Michael Shannon is SO underrated, and yet so talented ..
Even as Zod I love him. He is an anti-hero for me rather than a villain.
I have loved him since "take shelter" - I had no idea who he was but the *blew me away* in that role.
Take Shelter is such an amazing movie. It’s a shame not enough people know about it.
So glad you mentioned Take Shelter. It is a great movie and I've had the highest admiration for Michael Shannon since then.
@@leonaschaffer9198 Agree 100%. So glad it was mentioned.
should check out Midnight Special...same director (also wrote/directed Mud). That blew me away as well.
Yeas. Take shelter is one of my favorites of his. So beautiful and moving.
Michael Shannon is a talented and versatile gem of an actor with a riveting intensity and I have enjoyed him in everything I’ve seen him in since Boardwalk Empire, like nocturnal Animals,Midnight Special, The Shape of Water and the unhinged ‘Bug’ (he and costar Ashley Judd should have both been nominated for Oscars)
Take Shelter👌

I think of government as more about infrastructure, a functional society is a peaceful one.
Corporations USED to be temporary, perhaps that should still be true but if not, we MOST DEFINITELY need something strong between us and a corporation. The victims in Ecuador of an oil company that almost has Texas in its name? Those native Ecuadorans would agree.
Michael is a lot more chill than I thought.
His characters led me to believe he's batshit crazy, lol
Met Michael Shannon years ago in Chicago. He was friends with other actors I knew. Cool dude
Shannon is one of my favourite actors. He is truly a remarkable dude that is able to sink into a role and become that person. He was for the longest time very underrated and was not cast in many roles, but those that he landed he aced. And to such a degree it made people believe the character he played was real: They hated the man AND the actor. Some people can't make the difference sometimes, which amazes me.
To me he's number one. There' no one else that has this presence, even when he's doing very little.
Between Klepper and Wood....this show could be a beast again.
Waco was trying to put out a fire with a fire. But the right wing militia movement was already well on its way even without that as a catalyst.
Agreed.
So the FBI, ATF, NSA etc... Left wing? ???
@@dcore64 In the 90s under Clinton
HEY....klepper should be the regular host dontcha think?
Very, very talented actor. I hope he wins the accolades he so deserves one day.
No one else could have, and ever has, interviewed Shannon so well 😊 PLEASE keep Klepper!!!!
Haha and heeeey. Great interview. Perfect chemistry and flow also, almost.
I'm old enough to remember Waco and Oklahoma City. Back then conspiracy theorists were outside the norm. Militia's were hiding in the woods. Not anymore because the other day I watched my local soldier cosplayers get lunch at a grocery store. They were all dressed in fatigues that didn't match but the funny part was none of them spoke to or acknowledged each other. Unless I missed the dress in your battle fatigue day memo they stuck out like a sore thumb and if their mission was to be incognito they failed miserably.
Great interview!
I love this actor Michael
Shannon!
Great Interview, thanks!
Love him ❤
“I WILL FIND HIM!!!!!”
Timothy McVey blew up the Murrah Federal Building, in my hometown, Oklahoma City. Timothy SAID, he did it in retaliation for WACO. 😢
I was surprised to see MS on Amy Sedaris's show. Talk about versatile.
of late night shows - i watch monologue, headlines, etc. Hate 'celebrities'; do not care to hear a 'celebrity' talk. Michael Shannon is an artist Always love to see him speak. What a mind..
I love Michael Shannon.
KLEPPER FOR HOST! 😂
As a background actor on set for a scene of these part 2, I am so excited for it. Serious acting and such a privilege to witness it firsthand then see this interview.
Love the Waco series he was in with Andrea Risenborough(sp?)
Great interview there, Poncho.
This guy has a really great singing voice.
Very thoughtful.
Every time I see Michael Shannon I have to rewatch his lethal " I am relaxed" scene in Boardwalk Empire.
HUGE kudos to Shannon for pursuing this. And to Klepper for bringing him on to talk about it.
I haven't seen the shows but I remember the event at Waco when it happened. Regardless of the awful ideology and the gun amassing of the Branch Davidians, the government's action was appalling. There is no other story to this than what the government did was a horrific crime, and that is what should be remembered.
This guy is a treasure.
My favorite modern character actor.
Pompadour for the win!
Michael Shannon is awesome when he is playing a villain on screen.
Klepper for Permanent host!!!
Waco - where the whackos went to die.
One of his first roles was in Groundhogs Day as the newly wed couple whos into wrestling. I found this out while watching Boardwalk Empire.
I also think Bill Murray lit the cigarette of Jennifer Coolidge….no speaking role.
Love Michael Shannon in Pottersville! heavy fun!!
Michael Shannon rocks.
It’s a great show. As an Oklahoman, I had forgotten some of the aftermath portion. Waco got the pockets of hate to get organized. Today’s groups are the result of that.
Keep Klepper for a full time host!
I just saw the thumbnail for this sequel when I went to turn off the TV, as I switched screens to my phone this was the first thing on my feed. The original Waco was outstanding. Looking forward to this…
Klepper's experience interviewing strangers in the field has given him some great listening skills. Most of the guest hosts have nailed the monologue parts, but interviewing is a different skillset. This was a great interview!
Just ordered showtime so I can check out the first episode!
Hes great! Why do I think Michael Shannan could play a great Christopher Walken? The hair? Haha
Michael! Nice 👍
Michael Shannon is the real deal.
Had this playing on the background. I first looked at it him I thought it was Bill hader
I love his energy
TBF Gary Sinise's band is amazing! The Lt Dan Band
Jordan, you have a great touch as an interviewer.
I love watching Michael Shannon. For some reason he reminds me of Peter Deuel. And if Peter had lived passed 31 and into an older age this might be him.
Cognitive linguist George Lakoff taught about government being about freedom from (disease, violence, hunger, etc.) and freedom to (assemble, speak, marry, etc.)
Thanks for sharing... a really great viewpoint.
I LOVE George Lakoff. Was privileged to take his Metaphors class at UC Berkeley back in the 80s, and it's one of the two or three college courses that changed my whole way of thinking. and approaching life. And yes, "government = freedom" is SUCH a healthier mindset than "government = enemy."
Oh nice! Could you suggest some essential reading of George Lakoff?
Boardwalk Empire, the best series that no one watched. When Michael made his first and everlasting impression on me. That intensity of that character omfg
Jordan's hair is 5 inches higher than it was on day 1. Hosting has caused a growth spurt!
I love him so much
General Zod in civilian clothing…. 😮
Great actor! I loved him in boardwalk empire
Granted, I've enjoyed many of the various roles Michael Shannon has starred in that people have already mentioned. In my opinion, his greatest performance was his reading of a sorority girl email
I have never heard a more articulated (though it took some time) argument for the existence of a government vs. anarchy.
amazing his acting
is so different
to who he is
Mr shannon is an incredible man
Man, would love to see him do some stuff on Philly and MOVE.
Got that Chicago thing for the Joker that Ledger was doing down pat
I returned to Michigan, just in time.
As a Kid I remembered this as the wacko from waco.
My opinion has not changed.
We here
Jordan’s hosting the daily show now? Guess I need to tune in more.
He was the main reason I watched Boardwalk Empire...
My idol
Michael Shannon is great. This guy does some pretty far out characters. Check out the movie he did with Ashley Judd called "Bug". What a trip that was. He was wild in that.
That movie really got under my skin! (Hehehe) but really, gives me the heebie jeebies
💖💖💖
Shannon was great in Bug
