    THE CHANNEL:
    This channel is about Kerbal Space Program and can consist of SSTO building tutorials and rocket building tutorials. Some times the videos contain bad language and adult humor but on a low level. In these videos no planet is safe as we can explore space together by landing on places like Duna and Jool and build large Duna colonies or orbital space stations. Also, Interplanetary SSTO builds seem to be a hot topic in the KSP community so I will be touching on those as well. I also build SSRT space craft. These are fun to build and easy to fly! Warships or space warships are one of my favorite things to make. Stock weapons can be very challenging and so when building them over time , you get to see the evolution of the designs. Same thing with the Warships. They get better and better with each new design.
    Now , I know it's considered cheating but Kraken drives are a fun way to put things like warp drive ( like in Star Trek ) and or hyper drives ( like in Star Wars ) in your Kerbal space program game. These game mechanic loopholes are fun to figure out as you find out how they work and how to incorporate them into your star ship design.
    Everything from Outposts on far away moons and Mining Stations around asteroids and comets, you name it I've ether built it or it's on my to do list! I still haven't really explored things like building SpaceX starship or any of the NASA spacecraft, and I think that's because it been done to many times. Recreations of spacecraft can be found almost everywhere on CZcams now and so making yet another one seem redundant. Only if the spacecraft recreation is of one that I loved as a kid will I even attempt to build it. Like the Apollo Moon Lander, or the whole Apollo rocket! Now that rocket was cool!
    Many people have ask me if I'm ever going to wear my Mandalorian helmet ever again for my videos. And , yes. when the time is right, and I get a new wabcam, I will be dawning the helmet once more!
    Thank you everyone! ... This is the way.

    You might want to consider going through some nomenclature and world building stuff made by The Templin Institute; they might be helpful.
    From what I saw so far, mainly on how Space Navies would be conceptualised, there should be ship classesand sizes that are specialised for their own domains thus they would significantly differ in characteristics and roles.
    For example, a small ships (corvettes & cruisers) are pretty much only used inside the Planet's system; meanwhile, there are large ships (carriers & battleships) are used for interplanetary travel. Also, the things going into the atmospheres and landing are different classes too.

    Hi...science geek here... you absolutely do know the formula, if not the values. It's simple. Energy required is equal to the mass of the object multiplied by the constant known as the speed of light squared. E=mc². Now, to get mass, you'd need to account for the gravitational constant and such, but yeah.

      @@agravemisunderstanding9668 The gravitational constant is very deep physics; it's not anything to do with mass vs weight. I don't exactly know what it is, but I'm told that if it were different in something like the 23rd significant digit, the Sun wouldn't have formed in the way it did.

    Stuff like this is what originally attracted me to your channel. You have already proven your art and design will be inevitably successful. But, I gather you don't like writing scripts, even though you're really good at that too. (For example, that attractive series of yours which you didn't like to mention. That scene in the doctor's office!) Producing those super high-quality episodes was so labor intensive, I think you burned out. While I hope against hope that you create legendary stuff again, I also hope you take your sweet time at it. If each episode takes a year, that's fine with me.

    are you planning to use any of the FTL mods for this? i would be so down to see how you managed to incorporate those systems into your designs XD. I care rather less about the militaristic aspect of stories written in KSP type scenarios but having some fighting might be neat? dont stretch yourself too much though!
    Edit: sorry i posted this before i finished the video, i just got excited XD. There are mods that add warp tech which could be used to do in-game-engine warping so you don't have to edit it so much. Also, I know a couple of mods that add a few extra solar systems. It'd be kind of cool if the Kerbin system was actually an early earth colony settled by a fission/fusion drive early colony ship, explaining why its so different (and still relatively unexplored).

  • @Vesteria_
    @Vesteria_ Před 5 měsíci +1

    to ancer your qution:
    Warping space and time is a concept that comes from Einstein’s theory of general relativity. According to this theory, massive objects can bend the fabric of spacetime around them, creating gravitational fields. To warp spacetime, one would need to create a region of negative energy density, which would expand the space behind a spacecraft and contract the space in front of it. This would create a bubble of spacetime that moves faster than light, while the spacecraft inside remains at rest1.
    One possible way to create such a warp bubble is to use an Alcubierre drive, a hypothetical device that was proposed by Mexican physicist Miguel Alcubierre in 19942. The Alcubierre drive would require a ring of exotic matter with negative energy density to generate the warp field. However, the amount of energy needed to create such a warp bubble is enormous. According to some estimates, it would be equivalent to the mass-energy of the planet Jupiter3.
    Therefore, a possible equation that would tell you how much power you would need to warp spacetime is:
    E=mc2
    where E is the power, m is the mass of the exotic matter, and c is the speed of light. However, this equation is very simplistic and does not account for the complexities of the warp field, the shape and size of the warp bubble, and the effects of quantum physics. A more realistic equation would require a detailed understanding of the Alcubierre metric, which defines the warp-drive spacetime3.

    Ok, not to bust any balloons, but in order to warp space time, you would need massive amounts of energy, a supernova's worth. let's say that you wanted to warp spacetime to the effect of the earth's warping. plugging in earth's mass into E=MC^2, we get 5.3E+41 Joules, or about a 0.1% of a supernova's energy. capacitor banks and fusion reactors would not cut it, the energy is simply to large.

  • @eekee6034
    @eekee6034 Před 4 měsíci +1

    My kind of Star Trek. 👍 Great concept to limit the power of warp drive too. If I remember right, it would also restrict photon torpedoes as they have an antimatter charge. Whether you can make a good story without warp drive... well, it's a challenge but also another source of dramatic tension. I'd rather see tension from something I can understand than from made-up phenomena. :)
    Star Trek's dilithium crystals needed to be refined before use, so they're not entirely natural. I'm pretty sure they were scientifically theorized to be possible, but it's been 30+ years since I read about it. Star Trek's use for them is in directing the annihilation energy into plasma conduits, but I don't think that's quite scientific. How to capture and use more than a tiny fraction of the annihilation energy from antimatter meeting matter was still a big unknown when TNG was on the air.
    Fusion power is a type of nuclear power. The word you want for the old engines is "fission".
    Drawing the people would be good for the story. Kerbals are great in their way, but they can't act to save their lives!

    I always felt like that was Star Treks original premise; there are a few ships like the Enterprise capable of faster than light travel and able to explore at great distances. The rest are fusion powered and only able to make short distances.

    So interstellar extended does add all of the technologies you are talking about including systems where power is the primary means to use an engine but you'd have to learn all the calculations behind that and if you want tech trees then you'll learn that certain parts receive improvements with research. If you want to walk back the whole fusion 'drives' part there are many fusion engines. Antimatter can be collected using polar orbits where Jool is the best candidate for antimatter acquisition and would make the planet strategically important incase you don't want to use kraken drives for warp.

    Looking forward to this. Your story telling is always excellent.
    Ive been thinking about powering StarTrek warp cores without antimatter for quite some time now. The followingnis not meant to make you change anything. You should definitely do what works for your stories and your ideas. Im just sharing my thoughts. Incorporate or ignore at your leisure.
    First thing: definitions. You make a warp field by pouring energy into the fabric of space-time. Once the energy stops, the field collapses.
    Where the energy comes from is not relevant, except from an engineering point of view. IE, antimatter has a higher energy density than any fusion fuel, the trade-off being that you have to make antimatter and you can collect fusion fuel. Thus, any energy source can run a warp drive, some are more practical than others.
    Dilithium seems to always referred to as a way of harnessing or focusing the enegy produced, not as a way to produce the energy or create the warp field from that energy. Even in the TNG warp core, it seems to be used to focus the two incoming plasma streams onto eachother.
    My speculation is that a dilithium crystal has nanometer or picometer scale pours that when "energized" turn into electromagnetic tunnels plasma (ie, individual atomic nuclei, stripped of electrons) cna flow though but only in very tight beam. Playing with the "energization" of the crystal changes the properties of these nano-streams, allowing for plasma to be massaged into exactly the energy signal required.
    However, just because dilithium is extra-special good at this task does not mean other methods are not perfectly viable. A man made metamaterial crystal could probably do the job at 10% the efficacy of dilithium. Usable, but not excellent. With a confinement not good enough for controling plasma for M/AM reaction but fine for low energy warp plasma.
    In the TNG technical manual, there is a chart for energy concumption of the Galaxy class depending on warp factor. It takes some math to extract the values but it says that each warp factor has a large threshold energy requirement to get into that regime of warp flight; but the energy requirements to cruise in that regime greatly reduce one you get there. So, for example, while getting into the warp 1 regime from a stands-still requires a maximum power draw of 14 gigawatts of power, with a steep ramp up before that maximum. But once your at warp, 1wf cruise only needs 220 megawatts. Now, thats 220 megawatts absorbed by spacetime to make the warp field. The warp core would have to overcome all the inefficiencies of the system. Not all the enegy in the warp plasma would be translated by the warp nacelles into a warp field, for example.
    The point, tho, is that a an engine with a maximum output at the warp interface of 220 MW could keep a vessel at 1wf but it couldnt get the vessel to the warp 1 flight regime, as that requires a max output of 14 GW. However, ive wondered if one could either store warp plasma to get you over the hump or store the electrical power to make the warp plasma to get over the hump. So, ekther a plasma battery, as it were, or a plasma maker powered by massive capacitor bank.
    The idea holds true for transferring between warp regimes, too. The 2wf hump has a max requirement of 200 GW, but crusing at 2wf is only 2.2 GW.
    If your powerplant is scaled to easily get over the warp 1 hump with 20 GW to the warp field, you could cruise at 1wf for an hour or so collecting enough energy to get over the warp 2 hump; and then cruise at 2wf for a few days to get over the warp 3 hump, maxing out at 1.2 terrawatts to the warp field, when you can cruise at 3wf and 19 GW to the warp field.
    My speculation as to how the warp could work is that they are very dense objects set to vibrating by plasma bombardment. Spacetime vibrates sympathetically. Because the energy of a vibrating is a complex electro-mechanic process, electrically charged plasma hot-spots could be used to manipulate the specifics of the vibrations at every point along the warp coils, thus manupulating the interference patterns of the vibrations in space time. In this way, one could manipulate the exact local shape of spacetime, and your warp field.
    The construction of the crystals of the warp coils would be absolutely vital. And the computing power required would be astounding.
    I could write more but I think I'll leave it at that.
    Really looking forward to your stories.
    PS. Sorry for all the spelling errors and type-Os that must be there. Im not good at typing in a cell phone.

      @vaos3712
      Thank you... I've had a hard time thinking of a good way to do it, tho. Like, think up a plausible engineering item.
      Magnetic tracks, like partical accelerators, are bulky and power hungry. Magnetic bottles, like TOKOMAKs or magnetic mirrors, are leaky. And all of them cool down your plasma.
      I made a spreadsheet to try to figure out what phase of matter the anti-deuterium must be in for there to be enough of it I'm the storage tanks of the Galaxy class to react with all the deuterium in the deuterium slush tank and it would have to be liquid metal. And I thought to myself, "Oh. That makes sense. You could add a positive charge the liquid metal deuterium condensate by adding a few anti-electrons to make it easy to manipulate it with electromagnetic fields. Maybe even cool it down enough to make it a Bose-Einstien condensate and have it act as a single quantum system. Yeah. That's controllable." And this wasn't a weird enough construct for me to just accept as being something that we could do in 100 to 300 years. Sure.
      But how do you store a plasma for hours to days and not have it lose all the properties that make it useful? Is there a metamaterial that would allow nuclei to flow through it like electrons do down copper? If so, how? Is It like superconductivity? Like, do the nuclei pair bond like Cooper paired electons in a superconductor? I mean... What?!
      I just don't know. I don't even have a speculation.
      So, yeah. Just make shit up. Don't worry about it too much and somebody 30 years from now will obsess over it and figure it out for you. 😄

    I also recommend watching Picard season 3 (skip the first two seasons they are AWFUL and ya dont need the context from them to enjoy season 3), if I have to sum it up its like if they made anither good next gen era movie, but as a TV show season. Also for FTL tech, id also look into the KF drive from battletech/mechwarrior.

    Mr Vaos, hello. I'm not fluent in your language, so I'll be brief. I could help you to improve the sound quality of your voice in the video and advise you some things that will help you. It's all completely voluntary, I just enjoy watching your content.

    746th viewer! YEAH! (when the heck do you 700+ people have time in the morning?!)
    I like the sound of closet-dwelling Possessed Vaos.
    2:35 Holy schnapps, it actually flies?! I thought it was just a space prop.
    Is it weird that I have an irrational fascination with your little crystal illustrations?
    Gotta be honest: I'm not a fan of YT Shorts **AT ALL**. I hate their formatting. They give the viewer very little control. You get run-ons to shorts you never wanted to watch. And on and on. They're a terrible medium. I will always favor video uploads, no matter how short or long.

    I hate "new" trek...i hate it because instead of trying to do their own spinoff thing they obviously and visibly try to ruin the classic startrek lore and canon everbody knew and enjoyed...
    I really hoped the orville would have filled the hole left behind but it became its own thing and i still like it but its not trek...😢😢😢
