      I can confirm the "GDSTIME 25mm X 25mm X 10mm 2.5cm Small 12v Brushless Dc Mini Cooling Fan" linked above worked perfectly. If you search for "wire butt connectors heat shrink" that's what I used to attached the existing connector to the new fan. I used a light duty heat gun, a good hair dryer might do the job. Oh and the old fan is held on by some plastic rods that are just melted at the ends to keep the old fan on. I just cut the ends off and put blobs of hot glue over the new fan to keep it in place.

    Just fixed my dishwasher with the linked parts. Took less than 20 minutes from start to finish. One thing to note. At 0:40 you can see the existing fan is held in with some glue/plastic. To remove the old fan simply break the plastic nubs on top and slide the fan off the posts. To reinstall I slid back on the posts and capped them with a dab of hot glue on each one. I soldered the new fan to the existing plug. One other note, to access the area you have to remove all screws on the inside of the door and twist off the plastic fan shroud. It is threaded on and the metal door will not come off if you don't take this off first.

    Just fixed my dishwasher tonight. Ordered the replacement fan pack from Amazon. To remove the old fan, I used a pair of dykes to trim the plastic off of the top of the fan. I Used crazy glue to secure the replacement fan. I've been using this washer for years with this terrible sound. Thanks for making the video. Saved me a ton of money... I was ready to replace the washer.

    @briansniffwebdesign5702 Před 2 lety +8

    Confirmed. This works. For those interested, the video does not show all the dismantling of the cover. Once the screws are removed, the large circular vent cap screws off by turning counter-clockwise. The replacement fan fit perfectly over the 4 pegs that were holding the original fan in place. There was no easy way to remove that original fan and it broke into pieces as we pried it loose. We knew, however, that there was no going back anyway. This replacement was going to work or we're getting a new dishwasher. Once it was removed we clipped the wires from the old one as close to the fan as possible to leave a long pigtail with the connector on the end. Then carefully sliced away the wire covering to expose about 3/4" of wire so we had plenty to splice with. Then did the same with the new fan and spliced the wires and wrapped them thoroughly with electrical tape. We placed 4 tiny gobs of contact cement on the backside of the replacement fan and placed it into position sliding it over the 4 pegs and pressed it tightly to the back. Then plugged in the connector, turned on the breaker, started the dishwasher.... and there was this beautiful silence! No more high-pitched wailing of that old vent fan!

      @@anthonytaylor866 Glad it worked out for you! An appliance repairman we had come over and look at it said he refused to work on Samsungs because he couldn't get parts. That $2 fan saved us $1,000 for a new dishwasher. Or, at least bought us some more time before we need to replace it. The buzzing sound was extremely loud from that tiny fan. So loud you couldn't hear the TV in the adjoining room.

    I have two of these units, both with the same problem. Glad to know someone has figured out what the problem is. Of course when I had the time to do something about the units were out of warranty. I have a Samsung dryer with a similar problem, a roller with bearing issues. I had to dismantle that one as well to correct the design flaw. Samsung should be proactive and send a replacement with the fix. I am not a happy customer, no more Samsung appliances for me.

    Worked perfectly; I used electrical tape and heat shrink to splice the old wire adapter to the new fan. I then used electrical tape to secure the fan in place, and taped the excess wiring to the door so it doesn't swing around. The dishwasher hits 157F internal temp maximum so it should be fine for the electric tape adhesive to last.

    Anyone wondering how to connect the power up to the new fan. Cut the wires on the old fan close to the fan itself. Strip them and then shove them into the connector on the new fan. Black to black, red to red. So it's old connector, two wires, come out and then go into their two connection sockets on the new fan. And then just wrap it in electrical tape.

    I swapped the connectors instead of soldering. I loaded the washer and kicked it off.
    Is it right that the fan is not always running, or if it is, its running at a very low speed?
    I hear a whizzing sound but i cant tell if its from something else. Im placing my hand over the vent but i can barely feel anything.

      I thought I had installed it backwards or there's a loose connection. Every 15 minutes though it seems to exhaust the air inside and I can feel the fan push the air out.
      I'd appreciate if I can confirm with you if that's how it's supposed to be.
      I suppose I can also wait until the drying cycle!

    Fantastic video; thanks for making this. Utter DIYer here: I see the quick disconnect, but how do you pull the fan itself off the vent dry assembly? It looks like two of the four holes on the fan have been pushed onto grey posts, and the ends of the posts look a bit mangled (perhaps done on purpose to keep the fan in place). I've tried using my fingers to wiggle it off, and I've tried making gentle use of a flathead screwdriver to lift it off. Thanks again.

      @@MikeBiddle Thanks for your reply. Now that you mention it, it looked like it might have been glued on. Without magnification, all I could see was some blobby grey material in two of the four fan holes. I tried to wiggle/rock the fan out by hand and tried to gently lift it off with a butter knife, but I didn't want to force it since I don't yet have any replacement fans. My goal was just to inspect the fan. Anyhow, I'll place an order for the best fans I can find and take it from there. Thanks again for this great video.
