    Always amazed at what you can run through those rings. I guess the days of blocks are all but gone soon. Tnx Reg and really enjoyed the music selection as I had my morning coffee.

    If X man was gonna make a commercial, it'd look something like this... He'd prob score it differently though, something a little more,uhh...aggresive haha. Well done,Reg... again.

    Bringing down some decent stuff on just 1 ring, goes to show just how impressive they are!

      That was a really nice video and the ONE ring at terminal rigging point is an interesting subject. "Rules" are created for the masses of people that do not know when to apply the "rule". If a person does not know when to apply the rule..... they are likely stupid and should just apply the rule always..... or maybe stop doing the activity. The two or three ring "rule" for terminal rigging point was a CYA rule. IF a person was going to take such a massive weight where the rope WAS going to break somewhere, no matter what hardware was used.... Read again, IF the rope was going to break somewhere NO MATTER WHAT...… I wanted a rule in place so that the rope did NOT break at the rings. Therefore I set a double ring rule for the beast rings and a triple ring rule for the large sized rings. A heck of a lot of weight can be done on single rings, as shown here and I know from my testing. If you are going to break a rope on a single ring, the shock load violence has to be really big, like scary big, make you want to not watch it big. But, a smart person covers their ass on a product and states rules for the dumb masses of people out there. Reg is not dumb, so he can do what he sees fit to do.

      Yeah, good idea, it's such violence to break a 3/4" rope on a single ring. I will dig into the video vault.

    Hi Reg, Nice vid! I noticed you're neg blocking with only one ring. I was under the impression that a single ring didn't offer enough bend radius. That's fairly big wood you're sending down on a single ring. Can you please comment on rope diameter/ring size and what's acceptable? I have the largest x rigging ring and it would really simplify things to be able to use it single for bigger wood. Up to now I've used it only for lighter stuff and for a redirect with a block. Thx Reg. Always Love your videos!

    • @Recoates
      @Recoates  Před 5 lety +3

      When I started rigging all we used was thimbles, not blocks. Inferior to X rings, but they worked just fine. The bend ratio that is generally acceptable I believe is 4.5 - 1, or something similar. So the higher part of the line isnt doing all the work as it travels around the bend. Having said that, a line often rotates as it goes through an x ring, bollard or other static surface, and where it is flattened out on a wide curve can even gain strength. I can't tell you or anyone else what to do, but I generally follow my own line of experience and logic when it comes to tools and techniques. Ive worn out too many bushes on branded heavy duty blocks within an unacceptable time frame and cycles to failure....so I dont have a lot of confidence in such purchases or applications of such these days. I do what makes the most sense to me as a result.

    • @thexmanjdd
      @thexmanjdd Před 5 lety

      Great experience testimony. One typo maybe, or maybe not if it's the UK way. Bushes = Bushings, maybe? We call them bushings in the pulley blocks; of which, mine got very sloppy over the years too.

    Hi Reg,
    How often do you change the ropes? How long do they last? Is there a law in place telling you to change it after so and so time?
    I am new to your channel and I am going backwards in time but so far I didnt see any negative rigging videos that include the roping and rigging, is there any, or if not, could you upload one for us. As much as I enjoy seeing the logs just falling like dominoes one after another, Id like to see how you rig, and the time and preparation it takes you to do it.
    Thanks mate, keep up the good work.
