Rescheduling itself wont' really change anything. Under federal law a lower schedule controlled substance is still illegal to manufacture, sell or possess except in very narrow medical circumstances.

When it is rescheduled to schedule 3, any doc with a DEA # should be able to prescribe. Rescheduling would change it at the fed level and it could be prescribed like any other drug. The problem with it being legal at the state level was docs could not prescribe it, because it was not legal federally, only recommend. So unless the VA wants to pass a policy that cannabis will not be prescribed, their docs should be able to.

I used to work at a hemp shop, and we would always warn people about consuming Delta 8, since it is still THC and it will show up in a test as such. Unfortunately, technology for tests isn't really accurate, unless it's a super advance test that is only looking for the Delta-9 cannabinoid in your system, but this can still be misread as Delta-9. Just be careful, and make sure you keep your receipts for any Delta-8 products you consume, since it will be proof that is is legal.
