They will drive all the little businesses out and if you have home grow rights in your state that might go away also. Correction to your story. We do not have medical marijuana in texas. We have a compassionate use program that allows marijuana with less than 5% thc. Please understand the difference and please start saying that in your news report. There is a distinction, as Texas has extremely Draconian laws on cannabis
and 5 percent sucks. Texas is still in a horse and buggy mind set.

Descheduling cannabis goes a step further than rescheduling. When a substance is descheduled, it essentially means that the government no longer classifies it as a dangerous or illegal drug. Instead, it’s regulated more like everyday items such as alcohol or tobacco, which are subject to rules but not listed as controlled substances.

It shouldn't be classed as ANY kind of "narcotic". The FDA has NEVER understood what the term narcotic means. Not to mention opioid. Cannabis products should simply be off the shelf, like Nyquil or Unisom, any of the sleep aids. That's where cannabis needs to be. Except for the live plants, they would be out in the garden center with all the other live plants, duh.

It’s actually a much different intoxicant. It doesn’t have a strong dose response curve like alcohol, and has no depression of your ability to continue breathing which alcohol does.

biggest thing is that now it's open to being researched without the need to apply directly to the DEA for a special permit and procurement doesn't have to be from the federal government schwag factory.

If they fully decriminalize it, then I don’t think people will really care bout it very much. Like in California, it’s not really a big deal.
A schedule 1 drug cannot be decriminalized as long as its schedule 1. This is a necessary step to full decriminalization.
It must be decriminalized and legalized for personal and recreational use. It's not fair only rich privilege few can get legal protection. When users don't need silly papers to consume it. Socially conditioned is disgusting in those types of servants in positions of power.

People keep saying the words "Texas legalized cannabis for medical use". Which they most certainly didn't. They allow CBD which is a step forward but that is not legalization for medical use.
It's unheard of. But I bet the rich and privileged are the only ones able to get a licence to actually buy in the few dispensaries in Texas.

Thc is medically prescribed in texas, however there is no protections for the individual prescribed medical marijuana from being fired from their job for failing a drug test

I've lived in Texas all my life of 50 years except when I was in the Navy 96-2000. I'm a patriot and I love my country but I cant stand its leadership and its lack of transparency and just being truthful without always having a hidden agenda. I'll tell ya, Cowards don't tell me how to live my life, nor what brand of cigarettes to smoke. For the sake of not having a felony on my record I keep it under two ounces at any given time anyways. By adopting that attitude and stance, do you really think for one moment that Mrs. or Mr. Republican or Democrat cares at all what I'm smoking. I bet the truth is they never think about it once. Until it becomes a political issue. I'm not the only one of my brother or sister Americans, that feels that way.

I was recently arrested for a tiny bit of shrooms (psilocybin) and it was a $16k bond and class 2 felony possession of a controlled substance. The guy next to me in holding was arrested for the exact same amount of FENTANYL and got the exact same charge as me. Its insane.

Long time smoker here but have quit due to drug testing and really valuing my job I hope this changes things for Texas. When I was younger it was just about chasing a high but now it's one of the few things that helps with my arthritis pains, it doesn't go away but taking the edge off of a pain level 7+ everyday is enough for me. Never knew medical marijuana could help with autism as well. My daughter is probably far to young but I will be researching that as I am curious what studies are saying behind that.
In texas a felony possession is 5oz to TWO POUNDS, thats got to be fixed.

Like prohibition, the people who outlawed alcohol were they themselves drinking it. This isn't any different.
I am old autistic with PDA and dyspraxia. With my nervous system, I go from 0 to 100 internal rage over anything. (I keep it internalized, but that comes with CPTSD and masking, etc.) I spill things, break things, and get injured daily; and that is infuriating. This stuff helps keep me from raging/calms me back down quickly. Trust me, you want me high. It helps dull some of the joint and other pain, and I've had some level of pain for as long as I can remember. I don't want the other damage to my body that comes with otc pain medications and I don't want to get addicted to other medications, so I just suffer through it. This stuff helps with the anxiety and stress I get from having to interact with other people. It puts me on an even keel. Having dyspraxia, I am already uncoordinated; so I really should not drink alchohol. It helps with my insomnia, so I can sleep. Best stuff for me.
