    Toyota just gave the GR86 a performance refresh. What are the changes and what can we expect from a next-generation?
    TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) announced today that it has upgraded the GR86 for improved turning performance and easier upper-limit handling, deepening the unique driving feel of a GR vehicle. Orders are now being accepted by Toyota vehicle dealers across Japan, with sales set to launch on August 1. TGR also announced today the start of a purchasing lottery that runs to July 28 for the RZ "Ridge Green Limited", a limited special-edition model that augments the GR86's exterior color lineup with the newly added color Ridge Green and sports exclusive bronze wheels and exclusive interior embroidery. Limited sales of 200 units are to start from around October.

 I agree unless Toyota do something very different with the 86 like these 4 doors version I don’t see a place in the future lineup with the Celica. They’ll have there different characteristics one being AWD and the other RWD so works there and if Toyota keep the 86 as a more affordable version but with all the body styles
 if they can have both, I won’t be complaining though. Wondering if the Celica would have both the 1.5 and 2.0 turbos, similarly the MR2

Sub 3000 lbs over 200hp 3 pedals & RWD are the stats I cherish. You can put foot to the floor and not be flung off the road and have a moment to enjoy getting to 60. If under 4 seconds you can’t really enjoy accelerating before you get to speed limit.

    Very cool to see, glad we're getting another "hakone". I do hope they at least don't make the 86 throttle curve worse, because it's already hilariously bad. From the research I've done and friends I've spoken to, you're getting 100% acceleration at under 50% throttle input, making any input past halfway effectively worthless. The BRZ does not have this issue and is much more natural and linear, so it's clearly just something tuned in to make the 86 seem faster.

      @omarawilson2853 Pƙed 25 dny

      @@tinhinnh I get what you mean but a turbo just doesn’t meld with the whole ethos of the car. Also I could be wrong but isn’t their new 1.5T not really performance car oriented? Wouldn’t they have to do a pretty big design overhaul to make that engine a viable candidate for the 86?
      I guess the same could be said if they decided to use the 2.0 engine in NA form, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they already have an NA GE variant of that engine ready to go, as Toyota has done similar in the past. They have been developing this 2.0L for several years so a variant without a turbo could be very likely.

    None of those "upgrades" mean much, and if you are a track guy, shocks are going in the trash anyway. I bet in a blind "taste test" between the new and "old" you wouldn't be able to tell a difference. Time to retire this car and replace it with at turbo 4 "Celica" based on the IS chassis.

    I want the 2025 gr86 to have a hybrid engine with extra focus on paddle shifters with about 250 hp. More storage space in the trunk. And simple steel wheels like the ones in old porsches and simple cloth seats, and decent sound system. If it’s 4 doors, even better. It has the potential to be the most affordable fun car to drive daily, even during rush hours with slow moving traffic. 35-45 mpg. $25000 base model msrp. Loving the 4dr design in that magazine picture.

If anything it's a very good thing Toyota has a proper sports sedan to rival something like a m3. Don't worry for single people like you will have other two door options From Toyota 😂.most silly comment ever 😜
